I've always been interested in the relationship between twins. Many twins are really close, and it's just something I've always been interested in. I know two identical twins called Lauren and Siobhan, and they're extremely close, and spend a lot of time together.
Robin and Maurice Gibb (in the Bee Gees) were non-identical twins, and were very close themselves (I think Maurice's death has really been hard on Robin.)
I'm also reading a book - I Know This Much is True, by Wally Lamb - which is about twin brothers, Thomas and Dominick. Dominick is the sane twin, but poor Thomas is a paranoid schizophrenic.

My wife was a twin, but her twin died at birth.

That's a shame. :(
Does she feel a sense of loss, even though she grew up without her twin?
Elvis also had a twin who died at birth - I believe his name was Aron.

My sister's brother and his wife have two sets of twins. All girls.
Another friend's sister-in-law has triplets.

Various times throughout my lifetime.
-In elementary school there were twin girls named Gergia and Jacinta.
-My uncle Martin's wife's brother, Mario, has twin daughters, Cristina and Monica, who are 27 years old.
-I have twin second cousins, Elijah and Josiah ('Shiah), who are 6.5 years old and are on my maternal side of the family. They are kids from my 31-year-old cousin Rudy.
-My mom told me she had twin pairs of aunts who have since passed away, so yeah, twins does run in my maternal side of the family.
-I know twin Ace of Base fans, Jenny and Tessi, and they both have a lot of similar interests, hobbies, jobs, degrees, etc.... They are soooooooo close to each other. They even live together.
Yeah, I agree. Twins and their styles of living are always fascinating.
It's funny. The guy that I have a crush on is a twin. He and his sister have similar features, but other than that, don't look tooooo alike. Thank goodness, because she's a stone cold biotch. He doesn't like her much either.

She never really talks about her sister much. Mainly, because she never knew her. I think she does have a sense of loss though. She wanted my first born daughter to bear her name. That is why my daughter's name is Brianna Nicole

That's rare with twins, although I have read about some who don't like each other much. But they seem to be in the minority.
Brian, in a book I looked at, about Elvis, it was said that someone raised the view that when a twin dies at birth, the twin's strength goes to the surviving twin. I thought that was quite...nice. I imagined Elvis having the strength of both himself and his brother.

I agree with that. My youngest daughter has had numerous illnesses this year, and really, it has been my wife who has kept it together.

Yep, I know two guys who both work with me--they are fraternal twins. John is more stocky and built, while Ray is on the lanky side. They both have black hair and greenish blue eyes. Both are insanely obsessed with sports. The only difference I see is in their height/weight and John seems a little more outgoing.

Oh, yeah, and I also remember two sets of twin sisters. The ones from middle school, Shannon and Crystal, were fraternal twins, and their physical appearances were quite different. Shannon was a bit chubbier and had darker hair and darker eyes. Crystal was thinner, had blond hair, and had blue eyes. Why does it seem like most fraternal twins tend to be total opposites in appearances? It's interesting.
And Sharon and Karen during my middle school and high school years were identical twins, but they had totally different styles. Karen was the tomboy, and she dressed like it too - wore a lot of jerseys, loved football, etc. And Sharon was more into makeup, hairstyles, clothes, etc.

You think there were ever twins that were born and married other twins and had twins?
Undoubtedly. I've usually see a show somewhere on television about that very thing every 6 months or so.

A nice birthday present for you, Jen. :)
Robin and Maurice were fraternal twins. They never really looked alike; it was easy to tell them apart. They also had different personalities; Maurice was the more friendly, outgoing one, while Robin was/is more shy. But they were similar in other ways.
Of the twins you know, do most of them seem very close, and spend a lot of time together?

Two of my good friends are twins. It used to be funny when they were in a class together...One girl didn't realize till halfway through the year that they were twins. I mean, it was kind of hard to notice because one's a girl and one's a boy, but they have the same last name!

Twins are a big part of my family. On my dad's side, my great grandmother had a twin, who died when they were about 3. My grandfather had a set of twin sisters. One of my aunts has a set of twin sons. On my mom's side, my grandfather fathered a set of twin boys, and one of my uncle's has fraternal twins. Makes me wonder if I could have twins if I have children sometime in the future.

My brothers wife had twins but one died at birth.

One of my very best friends, Brenda, has an identical twin sister. They are both married with kids but only live a block away from each other. Isn't that sweet? :)
My sister's mother-in-law also has a twin sister, and they are still very close.
I too am a Bee Gees fan and was very sad to hear about Maurice's passing. Even though the brothers had their ups and downs, it has been well-documented that Maurice was the calming influence in the group, especially after he quit drinking.

Ohhh, wow. I know/knew a TON of twins.
- This guy I work with on the school paper has a twin brother. I know them both, and have for years. One of my real good friends is dating that twin brother.
- I had, ohhhh, two sets of twins in my grade? I don't really remember anymore. But I remember one set being identical, so their yearbook pics were identical.
- The class two years ahead of me -- the class of 2001 -- had, I think, two or three sets of twins, INCLUDING [fraternal] triplets. Really crazy!
- My mom has a real good friend who has five children -- she has TWO sets of twins. :faint:
- One of my other friends HAD older twin siblings, but one of them died at birth.
- I have five-year-old twin cousins in my family.
Twins are pretty common around here. Even moreso in the town where I graduated from HS. It's crazy.

I work with some multiples. One I can't tell apart, one I definetly can, and one is actually a set of quints, but 1 died, 1 was shipped off to live in a home for disabled children, and 1 has spina bifida and learning disabilities. Fertility drugs are nasty.
I would have had twin cousins (a boy and a girl), but they were stillborn. And sadly, their parents don't even care enough to visit their grave. Last time I saw it (a few years ago), it was covered in grass and kind of sunk.

My mother has a twin brother. You can tell they're related, but they really don't look alike.
Jon Heder has a twin brother. They look and sound almost exactly alike. It's too cool.

Haha, seriously. His brother is a little bit more heavy set than Jon if you look close [and squit a little]
There's this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36ec-peWmLU) video on youtube with him talking as he sounds just like Jon. it's unreal.
I've always thought it'd be cool to have a twin. You could mess with people if you really wanted to, ha-ha.

Wow! I didn't know that Jon had a twin! That's cool! I must be dumb, but which one is Jon? I'm trying to look carefully, but I still can't distinguish them.

Our former pastor, who retired a while back, has grown twin daughters. They were born in 1969 and there really wasn't technology to tell back then, because the second baby was a surprise! The umbilical cord was wrapped around the second twin's neck! Thankfully, they got it off and she was OK. Pastor's third daughter went on to give birth to twins herself. I can't believe I forgot to add this one before!! :wallbang
My grandmother and great aunt are identical twins. They're 78. Strangely, my grandmother has a severe case of Parkinson's Disease and suffers from a lot of the awful side effects, including dementia, but my great aunt is still perfectly fine and has all her marbles.
