Please get in touch or email me if you will be willing to trade for blank dvd's. Even a few or couple at a time would be fine just wondered if anyone would be willing to possibly help in this way. Thanks.

You just posted this yesterday  :soapbox:
It is unlikely you are going to find someone willing to trade for blanks for any substantial trade. Occasionally I will let someone add blanks if they are a few discs short and really want to get a larger set from me. However I hate to be blunt but this is almost like panhandling or begging.
"Excuse me Sir
Can you please put together a 20 dvd set for me, spend the time to burn it and mail it For this I will return some blank media to you."
Occasionally people do have Lots for blanks up for grabs and it is a first come first serve BUT even then you do not pick and choose what you want and it is usually 2 to 3 blanks to 1 copied dvd.
I will trade for dvds that I am not even really interested in (i.e. retails) on occasion to help a trader out BUt to come here with no trade list and make multiple posts that no one replies to, begging for dvds ... COME ON!
Last week you said you have no dvd burner or recorder and were asking for tips, this is a trading forum not a damn charity at least get some retails or something to trade because frankly I find these posts insulting. You have been posting here since MARCH! Buy a damn burner or stop begging, one of the 2!
Perhaps this post could be a blessing as after my rant someone may pity you and give you your little freebie (God I hope not).
If you want to trade, then get something to trade! Come back when you can offer something to this forum.

As a fellow user has pointed out, blanks dont' require much work and or net much use since blanks now a days are so easy to obtain.
Might I suggest, perhaps- scouting some resale shops, and purchasing some sets to bargain with?
Or perhaps offering some help in recording new shows, or older shows if your cable/tv provider nets you a rare channel or 2.
Maybe offer some help in conversion if you are capable in this area
or offer to help someone add to their colelction by grabbing a want off their half.com ebay list or amazon.
It can be frustrating being the new trader on the totem pole, and while blanks certianly are worthy to some, to others they aren't very valuable I am afraid.
But everyone has to start somewhere- so try to think what you have access to - sites, channels, libraries etc- and see if maybe that can provide something rarer in need then simply blanks.
I know its frustrating with the catch 22 of you need stuff to get stuff, and if no one trades you, you can't get stuff to trade with...
so many some of the baove will help?
Good luck!

I bought my 1st few sets off Ebay and Now I'm trading for the rest.
It takes some time. I still have a huge want list, but my have list is growing too.
But then, I'll see another trader's have list and I'll add a few more things to my want list.
I'm so damn greedy

trading for blanks---- there are a few who will do so,
but the ONLY way i trade for blanks is if it is cost effective for me
FOR EXAMPLE i can buy 100 Taiyo Yuden shipped to me in bulk for $26 total
so if someone wants i will trade them 100 TY blanks, 8 or 9 discs of material---
that is cost effective for me, BUT most people are ticked off if they want a 9 disc set from me and i tell them they can ship me 100 blanks for it
BUT if i can buy them for cheap myself, that is the ONLY way i will entertain such a deal

if u buy them IN BULK at www.shop4tech.com (1000 or more) u can get them for that price usually, it fluctuates sometimes but that is the average!

As you can see, most traders won't trade for blanks, unless the ratio of blank discs to each burned disc is high enough to make it worth their time. Trading is not an inexpensive hobby to start up, when you don't have anything for trade. So my suggestion to you is do what I & many others here have done & just buy some shows initially. You'll be able to quickly start enjoying your shows & be building up your inventory as well. I'd suggest you buy only shows you are interested in. Don't try to anticipate what others may want & buy that because there's a reasonable chance you'll get stuck with shows no one wants, including you. You have a large want list, so it will take a while to get all the shows you want.

to be a jerk about it
its just that if im going to send a set out for blanks
then it needs to be for a fair value for them, and with the prices i buy, then i try to swap for blanks where it works out to be roughly $3 per disc i send out for blanks
otherwise its just not worth the hassle

To Confirm
I did not just arbitrarily decide lets pick on the rookie, I noticed several posts that were all conveying the same message. I then checked all of his posts and none of them offer anything to trade.
I have also been contacted off board and explained to him that blanks for sets is not really going to get him much action. I suggested many of the comments that have been laid out here I also suggested that one user really wanted one of my sets and offered to buy a retail set (not copied) in offer of trade. There are tons of ways to build a collection but he has not taking any suggestions.
Even if he were to trade blanks for a lot or 2 he has no burner to duplicate them and trade Not having a burner is like having a car with no gas... useless
Trading is not a cheap hobby and some or all of these items need to be in place BEFORE you start trading.
1. A Computer with dvd burner
2. Time
3. Money
4. Items to trade
5. A dvd recorder
If you do not have 2 or 3 of these then do not pick dvd trading as a hobby

No Damage control
I just keep seeing people offer suggestions to this guy who clearly does not grasp the concept of "trading"
I still think it is panhandling and annoying but just wanted people to know that I did not just pick this guy out of a hat to roast.
This guy has made no effort to even get himself something that would benifit this forum and until he buys a damn burner then he should quit begging.

Exactly!
This is why I posted what I did because people who pass by his threads do not realize that it is a pattern of begging.

It can be tough getting started i know for a fact
ALSO there are some people who will in fact trade for blanks
but that is the minority NOT the majority
the only way to really get into trading is to invest a bit of $ in equipment and/or sets

Way to go Lamont. After making 2 identical posts in less than 24 hours and getting no positive responses to indicate that your statement could possibly be true, you go ahead and give hope. I will be forwarding all future emails asking to trade for blanks to you to deal with!

No harm done dh, no one's mad (I don't think). Good to hear that you are reading this and taking it in. Next step is to adopt it, practice it, and you'll be on your way.

I was contacted off board by him, too. Three times. First two times were offers to buy a bunch of stuff off my list & I ignored them. My list clearly states I never sell & never trade for blanks. So when I got the third email asking for help in getting started, my first suggestion to him/her was to respect a trader's TOS to avoid ticking them off.

It sounds like your at least responsive to the comments being made-
It is hard as I said- but No means no is the lesson best to learn quickly :)
There are many ways to add to your collection
Libraries, Pawn shops, discount stores
the Dollar store sells dvd now sheesh
Walmart bins-
ebay/amazon/half.com
Best way to get trading, is get collecting!
Sooner than you think youll have stuff to trade.
Check out your libraries for sales- they often times have sales 4x a year and ump old stuff.
Video stores have bins of stuff often, try the smaller chain stores first-
And dont' forget friends and family-
I often time swap and borrow things from friends nad family- when they tire of a movie, I offer them some things I have tired of.
Just some tips.
Just make sure whenever you make a request, in private pr public - to do it once and allow time for people to get back to YOU
otherwise it can seem nagging .
Good Luck!
