I never thought about it before, but Edith and Rose would definitely have hit it off as friends... and they would have driven Dorothy to the mental hospital together, for sure!!! :crazy: :lol:

I definitely would have enjoyed seeing Jean Stapleton doing a guest role on GG. Rose Marie and Georgia Engel also would have fit in nicely in a guest role.

I love Edith Bunker, but if "Edith" visited, how would Bea Arthur feel, seeing that Bea played Maude, and Maude was Edith's cousin? She would have had split personality disorder! :crazy:

Georgia Engel played Georgette on Mary Tyler Moore. And I do have to agree, she would've been a great guest. She could've played one of Rose's relatives. And, of course, it would've been a chance for Betty and Georgia to work together again!

Another good choice for the show would have been Mary Kay Place (best known as Loretta Haggers from "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman"). I think she would have been wonderful playing Blanche's daughter Janet.

We really never got to know Janet, aside from a few mentions and a couple of times where Blanche was talking to her on the phone. Apparently they had a rocky relationship, and one episode had a really nice closer where Blanche was speaking to her on the phone. For a moment it seemed like Janet still wanted to keep her distance from Blanche, however it ends with Blanche being able to get together with Janet even earlier than she had hoped.

that would of worked out as well al though i never watched mary hartman it would been good seeing her play Blanches daughter but edith bunker and rose be like mother and daughter or friend of sophia.s from shady pines
