since it was no canned laughter or studio audience I wasn't able to get into the show. And more Importantly, Tim Reid is too NERDY for me

I dont't know if Tim Reid the actor is a Nerd but his character on the show is on the GEEKY side. I never liked Grown Men TV characters with Geeky Qualities

Tim Reid's character was a fish out of water not a geek or nerd!
the thing i love about Franks Place is the show had an incredible atmosphere and some of the most distinguished characters ever on a sitcom.
Franks Place was like an half hour motion picture so a laugh track would've been inappropriate
but i guess this type of sitcom isn't everybody's cup of tea but people who haven't seen the show in years would give it another chance,
M*A*S*H had a rough first season in the ratings & people were slow to warm to it but CBS stuck with it and gave it a better time slot and it went on the become one of the most successful shows in the history of television.
just my opinion but i think Franks Place would've been another M*A*S*H but we'll never know:rolleyes:
for-the-record i hated the laugh track on M*A*S*H:mad:
it seem so tacky

I tried to give it a chance but I just didn't find it funny. Maybe if it had a laugh track. This is one show when I would have needed to know when to laugh.

This is funny, I have been looking in the one year wonders or whatever for this show only I couldn't remember the name of it, only that I thought it starred Tim Reid and it was set in New Orleans. I remember liking it a lot, I would watch if they reran it but what are the odds of that??

The odds are very slim since the show has under 30 eps-lol Not enough to be reran

Maybe next time I go to the Museum of Television, now the Paley Media Center, I should look and see if it's there.

A show with no laugh track or studio audience is called a drama

Very true. Their are very few sitcoms without a studio audience I can get into.
