The quickest way for me to change the radio station is one of those groups come on. I have 3 stations pre-set on my car radio, 2 are mix stations and the other is a rock station. I will change the station until I don't have to listen to that garbage they supposedly call music anymore.

Whatever happend to the good pop boy bands?! You know, the ones that wrote their own songs and actualy played instruments and didn't have to try so hard to be charming to the girls? Like The Beatles! Or The Rolling Stones!

Its a free country and ill post all the Hate Messages i want, and if you have a problem with that dont read it, but whether you want me too shut up or not, Im still going too think that boy bands suck. Quite frankly i have better things too do than stare at pictures of guys who dye their hair a different color every week and probably changed their names. And if they didnd change their names, i still think their names are fake.

They have a sold out concert bacause theyve nmanaged too brainwash enough people like you into loveing their sorry asses. And if their so extremely wonderfull, how come therye too dumb too write their own songs, play at least 1 instrument, and not lip sync (note the name nSYNC) to every song they ever wrote. Face it they cant sing with out computers there too alter their voices! And a choreographer too make up thier moves! Thats why they suck soooooooo much!

The only teen idols that are respected are the ones that made music for EVERYONE. And they just happened to be loved by the teenage masses. For example: The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and even Duran Duran.
Everyone one of those bands wrote their songs and were not manufactured solely for teenage appeal ( unlike The Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, O-Town, Britney, and Christina, etc...).
Okay, that was my two-cents...

ITA agree with Cokies. A couple more points:
The Rolling Stones sell out all their concert tours (My Dad hasn't missed one since about 78), and if the Beatles were still around, they would sell out too. Paul McCartney sells out just by himself. Could you imagine, if it was at all possible the four of them playing on stage again? That concert would sell out faster then any of these boy bands. Yea, these boy bands sell out now, but can they say that in another 30 years?
When U2 accepted a Grammy this year (a group that writes their own music) they singeled out everyone else in the category, except for N'Sync.
Anyone remember New Kids On the Block? Ten, twelve years ago they were the hottest thing around, equivilent to the Boy Bands of today. I had several tapes that have since been taped over, but you could probably dig some t-shirts up in the attic that were mine. Ten years later, they are only heard from in VH1's Where Are They Now Specials.
I can't stand the music, but I will diplomatically say why I don't. I do the same thing with Rap fans, another genre that gives me a headache. A place where everyone agrees is a boring world. I think a couple of the BSB from KY are good citizens, even if I can't stand their music. They've done some really nice things for their community. That's about all the praise of the Boy Bands I can say.
NancyJoJinny

Now rap i like, but chances are in 30 years when everybody forgets the Boy bands, ill call up my friend just too say Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhha!, its my trade mark. Yeah, soem members of bay bands are good citezens, which i give them credit for, but nobody cares if their a good person, exept for a few people. Im no longer makeing sense, good night.

Wait just a damn second...Nsync writes their own songs and think about it...it would be pretty hard to make up a dance for every song....thats what choreographers are for! Cheerleaders and dance team at our skool and all the other skools have choreographers on the squads.....I also love the Beatles and the Beach Boys, but I also like boy bands and rap and all kinds of music(except country and classical)! AND for your 411 NSYNC stands for the last letter in each of their names...either Justin or Lance's mom came up with that....justiN, chriS, joeY, lancetoN(his real name), and j.C.......and they are in sync you know like they sing in harmony!

Max Martin writs NSYNCS songs, their names are Just in the "Who wrote it part" because they change like 1 or 2 words in every song. And truthfully, if my friend and i can make up dances too all of their songs with less experience than them then they MUST be able too make up their iwn for at least 1!!! And yes i know its the last letter in their names and yes i know his name is Lanceton. And their voices are too high, and yes, it looks like they havent combed their hair in the last 10 years. And im not exactly attracted too any of them. And their hair is getting a little, how should i say this, old. It has been the smae for how long?

I personally think pop sucks, but everyone has their own opinion. But one thing that really drives me insane..
Quit calling them boy bands. They are NOT boy bands. They're groups. Bands play instruments. I don't see any of them playing instruments while they're singing, unless I'm missing something. Keywords being WHILE THEY'RE SINGING. I don't care if one of them can play guitar.. why don't they play it while they're singing? They're not bands.

Sorry dissing Boy GROUPS is a hobby of mine. And how exactly can you proove that they write their own songs, and if its their offical website, its not true. I respect you LOVE for them, just dont try too convince me their good... They could come too my door and serinade me infront of a live televised audience and theyd still suck. Discussion over.

I will admit to liking a few of N'Sync's songs because they have a couple of pop gems, but I know that they have no staying power.
The problem was that teen pop got TOO BIG. In 98 or so when Backstreet were first getting big, but they weren't #1 was one thing, but when MTV pretty much gave up every other genre except rap to play more boygroups, it got out of hand.
People fail to realize these acts were shoved down everyones throat before they even had a chance to decide if they like them or not. They sell Mandy Moore dolls where I work, WHO EVEN LIKES MANDY MOORE?!?!? That is commercialism to the point of overkill. You didn't see Madonna, Janet, Paula Abdul, Mariah Carey or the like having dolls for them as soon as they came out, and all of those were much more popular than Mandy.
It made me sick when O-Town actually got popular despite their series. I am sorry, but they are as big a consumer fraud as Milli Vanilli were. I find it sickening that a boyband "cast" on looks without having one lick of talent get everything handed to them with a silver platter, yet it took ARTISTS like Moby and Shelby Lynne over a decade to get to the point where they are now.
The biggest proof that the teen-pop scene got too big for it's own good is BSB's ego. First of all they said they were better than Madonna and Janet (which is a joke, those 2 divas have been one step ahead of everyone else for the last 15 or so years, and they both write their own songs), and then they compared themselves to the Beatles. BSB isn't even better than Yoko Ono (at least she wrote her songs), and to compare themselves to the Beatles???? Oh well, at least bad karma has caught up to them as this last album has barely sold 1/3 their previous releases and is already off the top 100. And all 3 singles have flopped (yes, Shape Of My Heart went top 10, but it wasn't close to the I Want It That Way/Quit Playing Games runaway leadoff smash that BSB and Jive predicted)
I know they sell out tickets everywhere, but what respect do they actually have? How many people do you see at N'Sync or 98 Degrees concerts besides pre-teens (and their parents who bought the tickets) and gay men who think they are hot? People might like some of their songs, as almost all of the teen acts are guilty of some good pop records. But none of them (with the exception of possibly Christina Aguilera) are expected to be around in 3 years time.

Well, you seem to have spun a web of discussion with many opinions. Yes everyone is entitled to their own but I think all of you who can hear music should stop and think of how grateful you should be that you can hear any music in the first place. Music is one of the greatest gifts thatthis life has to offer..I've loved it all my life and always will. As far as Nsync, BSB and 98 degrees goes i find them much more enjoyable than songs that speak of nothing positive or are there for shock value. O holy night on nsync xmas album is best version i ever heard. a cappella is dificult. i still love the beatles, and many of the bands from back then...and even some from myDaddy's generation. I hate opera, but respect those that love it...and as for me sometimes it/'s okay to talk about the things that annoy me or the things that I hate, but I think it's better to talk about the things that I like or love

They compared themselves to THE BEATLES?!!! Oh lordy lordy lordy...Puh-leease!! The BSB wouldn't know talent if it crawled up their asses! (And I bet they'd like that...)
Hell, I rather listen to that album of Yoko Ono screaming her lungs out into the microphone for 20 minutes over and over all day that listen to any fuggin' pop album.
I don't really like rap too much either but, I'd even rather listen to that stuff all day than having to actualy sit down for 30 mintutes listening to god damn BSB or NSYNC or MANDY MORE....

[/B] Kevin said in an interview on MTV that he can see in 30 years time that BSB will be as well-loved as Beatles are now, and also said a Backstreet greatest hits cd will be as big a hit in 2035 as Beatles ONE is now.[/B][/QUOTE]
You know, I agree with this. There were boy-bands in the 60's and 70's Like the Monkees and the the Osmonds that had mass commercial appeal to kids. They were ripped by the critics because they couldn't write thier own songs or play thier own instruments. But yet it's 35 years later and these guys still have a HUGE following. So, give or take 30 years, 'NSync or BSB will have the same type of of appeal.
Look I'm not a fan of N'Sync or BSB, yet I respect those who are.
