The CW's official site only has a picture of Ross, Brooks and White up and only mentions their names. I haven't heard anything about her leaving, but it appears she's no longer a part of the show.

I was just at the website last night. I saw the samething. I wonder what happened? I would think Maya (Golden Brooks) should have been the one to leave since Darnell wanted her to move to Florida.

Well, it seems like she left on her own.

When the WB and UPN decided to merge into the CW, it must have occured to all of the actors and actresses of Girlfriends that they may not be back. Jill Marie Jones, who played Toni Childs, decided to leave regardless of which way the axe fell.

Of course the season finale of the show last week was probably a telling sign — in a moment of craziness, Joan (played by Ross) drank herself to death at a party and ended up missing a custody battle between Toni and her estranged husband Todd (Jason Pace). Although Toni won custody of her child Morgan, Joan felt that she had let down Toni and lost a friend forever. It was mentioned by one of the characters that all of their friendships had been growning apart — having seen the show over the years, this did come with a bit of truth.

For further confirmation, one needed to do no more than to look at the network's web pressence for the show.

Three out of the four girls (Persia White, Golden Brooks and Tracee-Ellis Ross) have their pictures up on the CW website and are mentioned as a threesome in the related show info.

Hopefully there will be further developments as to whether she will return to the series for guest appearances. But judging by the episode and the lack of Marie Jones' picture on the site, it seemed highly doubtful that would happen anytime soon.

The show has been doing well for UPN but we all know how networks come up with their own formulas for renewals. I think she was probably ready to move on to do other projects. Playing the same character can be quite boring to some performers.

If it is true she is not returning, I WILL NOT watch this show anymore....she is the most talented actress on it and they will lose a TON of viewers if this rumor is true....Does anyone else have any more info????? I'm devastated right now.....

I read a little snippit of next season and her name wasn't in the credits. I liked the Toni character, she was so funny and it was fun to watch the other characters feed off of that. So to me she will be missed

I hope the show can continue. I like the show. Too bad if she is leaving. I will miss the Todd character. I wish Toni and Todd had remained married.

Her married to anybody is a joke! She's too self absorbed. The short jokes about Todd were funny!

I think she really grew up as a person last season, she had to think of someone other then her self and that helped her out a lot. I never liked the Todd character all that much, He wasn't needed at all.

Can't confirm, but I heard that the CW wanted to cut the show budget (including salaries) back when it transfered, so maybe that is why she's not returning.

Then I don't blame her, but she could've stuck it out for their last season.

What's the website for CW? I've been looking for info on the future of Girlfriends.

I always thought that it would be Golden Brooks departing from the show (not that I would prefer her over Jill) - Golden has been doing some big screen projects. She will probably be the break out star of the series.

I'd love to see another season of all the girlfriends, and the growth of Toni Childs.

Toni is the darkskinned one that's always self centered & have the attitude. She's the one who was married to Todd & she was fighting for custody of her baby.

Actually Toni Childs "JMJ" is my absolute favorite! William (RH) is my second fav. JMJ is avery convincing actress. I would like to see her as well as RH explore other opportunities in acting but the show won't be the same without Toni Childs - you know she specializes in results!

I don't believe she will be on the new show The Game. However she is on 2 new Balieys TV commerical - http://www.baileys.com/gateway/GatewayPage.htm?BrandId=69&RefUrl=http://www.us.baileys.com/ads/

I'm kind of hurt that she has decided to leave Girlfriends but I'm not going to get too worked up about it because I think this upcoming 7th season will be the final of Girlfriends :(

If she is off the show, that's truly bad.I like all of them, but she somewhat stood out for me.It's bad enough that this entity known as the CW exists, but now this.

I know there was a 2006 Summer Television Critics Association Press Tour the other day and Mara Brock Akil who is the creator of Girlfriends had this to say about the character Toni:

"Akil said “Girlfriends” will deal with the absence of Toni next season due to the exit of actress Jill Marie Jones. Rumor has it that she was stabbed in the back by her cast members Tracee Ellis Ross (Joan), Golden Brooks (Maya) and Persia White (Lynn), who reportedly reneged on a vow to stick together in demanding more money. According to Media Take Out, Ross, Brooks and White ended up buckling under pressure from the network to take whatever they were offered unbeknownst to Jones - who was asked to leave when she stood her ground. Here's something I read....

Jill Marie Jones may not have left the cast of The CW's Girlfriends after all.

The sitcom, which focuses on the lives of four African-American women (Jill Marie Jones, Tracee Ellis Ross, Golden Brooks, and Persia White) had been one of the most popular shows on UPN's Monday night lineup. Now on the CW fall lineup, it had appeared that Jones (who played Toni Childs on the show) had vanished from the cast list on the CW's website for the series.

Now apparently, that may be a mistake.

According to TMZ.com, Jill Marie Jones is still with the series but has been "working on a few big screen projects." As popular as the site has gotten for its coverage of the Mel Gibson DUI arrest recently, the site failed to mention why her picture hasn't been included back in the cast list on the CW site.

Mara Brock Akil, who is the creator and one of the executive producers of the series, stated in the CW's press tour last month that Jill had left the show and that she and the cast "wish her well" according to TV Guide. Since TMZ.com's report follows shortly after the TV Guide's report on the CW press tour, it's pretty hard to figure the truth between these two.

The only confirmation perhaps for fans of the show is for them to tune into the new season, which starts October 1 on the Sunday night lineup.

I saw Jill in those 2 Bailey's alcohol commercials recently. I didn't know she left Girlfriends.

It seemed like someone got a big head. I got the below information from blackvoices.com:

Tracee Ellis Ross Graces the Cover of the latest issue of Vibe Vixen Mag. in her cover story, she revealed her feelings regarding Jill Marie Jones exit form 'Girlfriends.' Here's an excerpt from the interview:

"In order for the show to come back, the cast was not going to get the huge raises we dreamed of." Tracee takes a long breath. "So when the calls went out about the new contracts, Jill gave a qucik 'no'. It was her decision. Clearly, we all wanted to come back to 'Girlfriends' as we know it. However, like anything the show is bigger than one person. The show is called 'Girlfriends' , not 'Jill and Friends.' "
"I think I was mostly sad that after six years the call didn't come to me that said 'Hey, I've decided to leave and this is what it's about.' But the show will go on. "

I don't think so. The shows that are lined up for Sunday nights on the CW will have low ratings and utimately will be canceled. From what I've read, this is supposed to be the last season of Girlfriends, but I'm not sure for the other shows. Now if they move these shows from Sunday to another day, then yeah the ratings will be okay. Maybe not as high as expected but okay to where some might get another season.

It should probably end now...it's just not as good to me, the earlier seasons were the best/funniest. It's like watching Sex and the City with Samantha gone or something.

I don't think this show will last another season. It's boring without Toni there anymore. It's like a table, if one leg is missing.. don't expect the whole table to stand up by itself.

I do like the show just fine without her. If she comes back, then great. If she does not, I won't lose sleep over it.
