Hey, didn't I say that near opening day? I know some of you guys probably laughed in my face! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif And they are doing it with a closer who is almost 40!

How about those Cardinals? Will McGwire play in more games this year or hit more home runs? I bet they wish they had Will Clark back this year he was so key to their run last year.

I wouldn't get too cocky there! This is what Jeff Gordon a columnist from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch said it today's article:

Since this is still April and major league baseball's underclass isn't holding fire sales yet _ the Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins are winning, so you know it's still early _ manager Tony La Russa has to review his abbreviated list of options.

Yes, my Cards are down, but there's a couple things you Cub fans need to know. We opened in Colorado where we can never play and LaRussa for some reason decided to pitch Kile on opening day who spent two miserable years in Colorado. He should stay as far away from Denver as possible. Hampton pitched for them and we can never hit against Hampton. This team has also beat Randy Johnson twice this year, once in AZ, and last night when he was on. It's still early and the Cards have a few tricks up their sleeve.

BTW I was at Clark's first game in Busch with my friend the Braves fan (they were playing the Braves) when he hit the first home run. It was so awesome. They lost, but I was there for the start of Clark's run. It is really funny that St. Louis now hails him as a hero because in 88 he took out Jose Oquendo (who is now the 3rd base coach) our 2nd baseman sliding into 2nd and a brawl happened (Ozzie Smith cannot fight at all-the clip is hilarious of him). The news channels showed that clip every chance they could, until Clark was the new Cardinal hero. He threw out the first pitch this year.

I had to bring this back up after this weekend. In first place by 1/2 game is the CARDINALS!!!!

The Cardinals swept the Cubs in St. Louis this weekend!!!!!!!!

We will see a lot of this match up this year because of the unbalanced schedule but the first one goes to the Cards!!

I wrote that in April. True to form, I am so sick of baseball by May. Stupid Cubs.

Told y'all the cubs would fade.

In an amusing side note, my HS's baseball team is 1-30 and is actually picked to advance to regionals in the postseason. (4 teams in district, top 2 advance to regionals.)

Maybe my high school should be in your district Devastation!! My one regret about high school sports is never winning that first game and advancing to regionals. My sister is a Senior this year and it doesn't look like she will get that opportunity either after the softball game I saw tonight.
