Do you think one particular season was funnier than any of the others? I just bought Season 3 and have watched it. I chose it on a hunch, figuring that the first season of a show that ran this long could not have been the best. If it was on for a number of years, I figure something like the third season would be a good selection.

What do you think?

Being an avid fan of the Bob Newhart Show I would have to say it is a cross between season four or five. Over the hills and through the woods episode is hilarious in season four. Emily goes to Seattle for Thanksgiving and Bob and his buddies get drunk and order Chinese food. The "Peeper" episodes with Tom Posten are funny too. I think they start in season four. The episode in season five when Bob gets hung in an empty elevator shaft is hilarious too. I would just pick up seasons four and five if I was not a collector and just a casual fan.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to them. Tom Post was hilarious. I know I remember I thought it was REALLY funny when I used to watch reruns, but I just don't remember much else. Bob is really the funniest one. I used to think Mr. Carlin and Bob's neighbor were funny too, but from watching season three it seems like it's mostly Bob.

I own Seasons 2-4 and I think Season 4 is the funniest (I've also seen Season 1 but I don't own it). Not only do you have "Over the River & Through the Woods", "Who is Mr. X?" and the Peeper episodes, you also have the very unique "It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time", which spoofs The Sting!!
