Even though it happened over a year ago, I still can't believe Peanuts isn't around anymore. This was the best comic ever in American history, no kidding. But I grew up with the specials, those wonderful CBS specials everybody can't help but love. Charlie Brown. Dear old Charlie Brown. The overachiever who never managed to kick the football before Lucy pulled it away. It would have been great if Schultz could have had him finally kick it in his last strip. But he died before he could do it. Anybody, like me, feel weird in a world without Charlie Brown, Snoopy and their friends?

I agree. I grew up on Peanuts... my grandparents have like every Peanuts paperback ever published in the 50s', and I used to read them all. (Still have them, but sorry, I'm not trading! lol) Charlie Brown cheered me up every day... but i did get the 365 day peanut calendar!! But basically, it isn't the same without good ol' Charlie Brown!

They are now releasing "The Complete Peanuts" in book form. The first volume released last year covered the years 1950-1952 and each subsequent volume covers two years. It looks like the volumes are being released every 6 months. Next month, the years 1955-1956 will be released.

I was always rooting for Charlie Brown to kick that football :( I love the Peanuts, they're awesome. Every Halloween and Christmas I bring out the videos and watch them. It's like a weird tradition  Oh and the Easter episode is the best.

whoreWell, in the case of why some people ask why they aren't liked by everyone, there's our problem right there. Maybe we should just ignore that.

Who's everyone's favorite Peanuts character? I like Charlie Brown because he was the Everyman who kept losing all the time, Linus because he was the intellectual, and Snoopy because he was the aloof dog who imagined he was fighting the Red Baron all the time. I could relate to being that kind of character when I was a kid.

I think I loved Linus the most. He was practically my Hero. I also love snoopy 'coz he makes me laugh. I used collect the videos, and my grandparents used to buy me the tapes for christmas and my birthday. Watching the tapes gives my fond memories of my grandpa(RIP) because we always used to watch either "snoopy come home" or the christmas ones when he came over :) . I also really love the comics, and even read them now even tho I'm a bit older because they're still really funny.

Even though it happened over a year ago, I still can't believe Peanuts isn't around anymore. This was the best comic ever in American history, no kidding.

The strip still very much around and will always be. Charles Schulz, the late creator of the Peanuts strip said years ago that no one will draw new strips upon his retirement and death. Here's a quote from the snoopy.com website:

By the wishes of Mr. Schulz, no new strips are - nor ever will be - drawn & published. There are new animated specials in development, but the story lines will be based entirely on themes & dialogue from the strip's history.

The strips still published in your daily newspaper and on our Snoopy.com web site are actually reprints from the 50 year/18,000 strip history of PEANUTS. The strips' relevance, charm, and timeliness today are perhaps the most powerful proof of their quality.

His marvelous works will be maintained, beloved and cherished forever! :)

I read "Peanuts" every day online. My favorite would have to be Linus, b/c he looks like a normal little kid, and yet he's so smart. LOL. And of course, Charlie Brown. I think we can pretty much all relate to his struggles w/ the football.

As for the TV shows, I know for me, I just have to see A Charlie Brown Christmas every yiear. That little tree always gets me! :(

I liked all the characters because

Charlie Brown-was a failure but still he never gave up and kept trying,he
also reminded us not to be afraid by talking out his problems before bedtime.

Snoopy- coolest dog ever,I loved his many personalities!

Linus- The kid that taught that everything we love somehow becomes
attached to us and it's hard to let go.

Sally- For all us girls who fanatized about our school crushes and never
getting a chance to go out with them.

Lucy- crabby, reminds everyone of your younger or older sister.

and the others taught us all lessons as well!

I am obsessed with "Peanuts." I have a bulletin board full of the comics. I grew up watching "Peanuts" on television. Does anyone remember the one where Charlie Brown went to the spelling bee, but wasn't able to take Snoopy with him? It's sad that they don't show them anymore, especially since the current generation of young kids is missing out on such an amazing creation. But the comics are still run in the Los Angeles Times, the specials still always air, and comic strip books are coming out. My favorite character would of course be Snoopy. I loved that he was always pretending to be the Red Baron. I wanted a dog like him who could fly his red doghouse around... :)

Linus is my favorite cahracter, because he's the gang's philospoher. I aleways liked Shermy, a minor character, for some reason as well.

Fun fact: Linus is also the name of the first successor to Saint Peter - that is, the first pope. St. Linus might have been whom Schulz amed Linus Van Pelt for.

I remember that one. Everytime one of the kids would spell their word wrong their faces would pop off the screen. It was pretty funny. My all time favorite Peanuts special is the Thankgiving one.
