Have you ever read Give Yourself Goosebumps by R.L. Stine?:) These are "choice" books as YOU the reader make your own choices in the book. Warning. A reader said this about the books. "These books (beep) me up.";) They kind of do, as they give you many twists and turns. On the back of each GYG, is advertised, "Over 20 different endings. Reader beware. You choose the scare." It can take you over 5 hours just to read the whole book, and it's not a "advanced" book, like "Gone With The Wind."
The first page of the book(well paper) before the pages with the title, author name,, publishing company, etc, warns you NOT to read the whole book through as there are many different parts. The story then starts, and after about the first 2 pages, the directions on the bottom will tell you to go to some FAR page like page 62, and then on page 62, they will give you two choices. Go to choice 1 on page 88, or go to choice 2 on page 32. After you make your choice, you will have to read the parts and listen to the directions to go to other until you find the page that says, THE END. Then you can go back to the choice you didn't pick, and do the directions thing again, until you get to THE END.
Sometimes the two different choices have a common page to go to.;) Sometimes the author "talks" to the reader, and he says, "What is the matter with you?" Why would you pick this choice? Go back to page 1 and start all over again, and this time, DO NOT PICK THIS CHOICE AGAIN, THE END" But the author has corny puns in his directions. For example, if the choice you pick has you running away from a bad guy/girl, he will put, "Quick! Run to page 85!"
Sometimes, the author will make the book a little interactive. Sometimes he asks the reader to do something that is outside of the book such as, "Look at time. If the hour is odd, go to page 134. If the hour is even, go to page 22." And sometimes, he askes the reader to remember something from the original Goosebumps book series. GYG is a companion to the Goosebumps series. He will ask questions like, "What was the werewolf's name in Goosebumps book, The Werewolf of Fever Swamp? If you know it, go to page 15. (Not to brag, but I've read 61 out of 62 Goosebumps books, so I'm pretty skilled in answering these questions correctly, ;) :p )If you do not know it, go to page 65."
Sometimes he asks the reader to go to remember something that's already happened or may not have happened to the reader, such as, "Did you get a silver whistle from the bearded lady?" If you did, go to page 8. If you didn't, go to page 55." And sometimes, he gives you map and mazes to study, and then gives you the "choice" pages to go to.
GYG is a really cool book series! :) :D
