As someone who has little to no interest in sports, I have not been watching the Olympics. Though I did get a chance to see Peter Gabriel's heartfelt rendition of John Lennon's "Imagine".

I saw a part of the skiing yesterday and the Russia-Canada hockey game today.

I watch it every year. I have my VCR set for when I will not be here so I can watch it later.

I don't really have much interest in the Winter Olympics. I think the majority of Winter Olympic watchers probably come from places like Colorado and Utah, where people actually give a damn about those kinds of sports. The only thing that would get me interested, is if Tanya Harding ran in during the ice skating competition, and started hitting people with a club.

I'd probably watch that.

How about a trivia question now about the Winter Olympics? This can very well serve as the 1 million dollar question on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" as I think it will stump most contestants. The "50:50" lifeline will unlikely be of much use as that usually leaves the biggest distraction to the right answer.

Which of these countries has never won an Olympic gold medal in men's ice hockey?

A. Sweden
B. Finland
C. Czech Republic
D. Great Britain

Finland. Final answer - where's my money!? That said, I'm not much of fan of sport except for some of the NHL playoffs, the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.

Incorrect.

Zebra3 is correct. The answer is Finland. Few people could believe that Great Britain actually won a gold medal in men's ice hockey. That was way back in 1936.

They won gold with Canadian players by defeating Team Canada in the finals.

Did anyone else catch the pairs figure skating a couple nights ago, with the Russian couple getting first, and the Chinese couple taking silver? I thought that was pretty cool to watch.

Yeah, another Chinese couple took the bronze too.

Those Russians. They're probably going to take gold with the men's short program, too.

Yes... I've had it on when it's been on NBC pretty much all the time unless there was a must-see show on I wanted to watch. Love the Skiing, Snowboarding, and the Luge especially.

In competitions such as the Olympics in which medals are awarded to the first three finishers, I have always wondered who feels better: the silver medal winners who won their medals by perhaps narrowly losing the gold medal, or the bronze medal winners who may be greatly consoled by taking home a medal rather than nothing.

The reason I ask this is because often it seems like the bronze medal winners seem more delighted. This is especially true in team events such as ice hockey. After the bronze medal game in ice hockey, the winners usually gather together on the ice and have their group photos taken with their bronze medals - just like the gold medalists. While after the gold medal game, the silver medalists leave the ice sad and dejected instead of celebrating as well, even though their silver medals are more prestigious than the bronze medals. But I guess silver medalists feel that they didn't "win" the silver medal but rather, "lost" the gold medal and that is what leaves them dejected. While bronze medalists are more likely to feel that they "won" the bronze medal.

It reminds me of the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. The idiots at Nike had these 'winning is everything' BS kind of billboards throughout including one which read 'you don't win silver - you lose gold' not realizing (or caring) that most Olympians who read it didn't win any medal.

Same here, especially short-track!

Robin Williams said it for all time - whoever said "You don't win silver - you lose gold," obviously never won a silver. :D

Yeah, that was heartbreaking.

Let that be a lesson. Showboating has no place in Olymic competition.

I have been tuning in occasionally to the games. I was watching men's curling yesterday. Fos some reason I really like it!
