Sasette, I just had to comment on your avatar. I love that episode...the scene in the casino when Clark was "killed" is so sad. I always feel for Lois when I see that episode.
Thanks, that's one of my favorite episodes :D

I was just watching some first season episodes of Lois & Clark and I came to this conclusion.
Lois & Clark is a better show than Smallville, but Smallville has been more consistent throughout its run.
I'll explain: The first season of L&C was great. The adventurous and comedic tone of the series, a masterfully played Lex Luthor and the undercurrent of romantic/sexual tension between Lois & Clark made for a very entertaining show. Series creator Deborah Joy Levine said her original plan was to have Lois & Clark get together for good in the final episode, probably at the end of the fifth season.
Well, Miss Levine left or was fired after the first season and after that, it was never the same. It was still a good show, but not as good as that first year. Lex Luthor had been "killed" off, the character of Cat Grant was jettisoned, the villains got sillier and they brought Lois & Clark together for good in the third season.
Smallville had a plan that was summed up in a rhyme: "No tights, No flights." Okay, they've violated the no flights rule at least once, but Clark has yet to become Superman. Smallville is more of a teen show, but it artistically has remained more consistent. It's had some of its best shows this year - it's fifth season. Lois & Clark was cancelled after the fourth season. I know that could have been due to network tinkering or whatnot - the actors were signed for a fifth year - but anyway...
No great revelations here - just some of my thoughts, that's all.
Interesting thoughts :)
I disagree that SV has been more consistent. They've changed Lana's personality more than most people change their clothes, Clark went from being more like Superman in Season 1 to being more like Peter Parker in Season 5.
I don't think Season 5 has had that many great episodes so far. The ones that I thought were really bad were: Mortal, Hidden, Thirst, Splinter, Reckoning is up there because of how Jonathan's death was a waste and the reset.

You say tomayto, I say tomahto. I love a good debate.:D
As for Lana, when all else fails, she always has that doe-eyed expression on her face whenever she's confronted with something that's too mind-boggling or hard to deal with.
All shows have their cliches that they fall back on...that's why they're TV shows.;)

In Lois & Clark:Teri is so funny, she's the perfect Lois Lane and Dean was absolutly charming, handsome and really sweet. But,his performance of Clark Kent and superman is the same.Lois was she blinded by love... probably:)How can he hide his true indentity by acting exactly the same way?
The maine problem with Smallville is it's should be call Lanaville.Since the second season, the show revolves around her.She supposed to be Clark's love interest nothing more. They should give her the same time under the spotlight as Chloé who's another Clark's love interest. But,no they had to write all the stupidest storylines there're is so she can be interesting but,it did the opposite effect, she became the most hated character on the show.Correct me if I'm wrong but,I thought that "Smallville was the story of Clark Kent not Lana Lang.

Well said I agree :notworthy:
They've given Lana more importance than she ever had in the comics. The Chloe/Clark relationship is just like the Lana/Clark relationship from the comics, and Chloe is just like Lana from the comics(right down to Pete being in love with her, and being a reporter, and Clark's best friend)
Lana hasn't had a purpose as ANYTHING but someone's girlfriend every season. They have no idea what to do with her, they change her personality more than most people change clothing.

They've given Lana more importance than they ever should have. She's truly doesn't have that much importance in the comics. ohno:
