well if it does make you feel better, I did like The River and Born In The U.S.A., I just mostly would rather listen to Tom Petty or John Mellencamp when it comes to that style of music, something about his voice never totally clicked with me.
However, I do agree 100% that the man is very talented, motivated and earned his spot in the Hall Of Fame

I feel like the Stones are overrated too. They were phenomenal in the 60's and 70's but I think you couldn't fill up an entire cd of the good songs they've recorded from "Undercover" onward IMO.
It's a shame because I've heard that "A Bigger Bang" actually lives up to it's hype but most of us who were suckered into buying Bridges To Babylon decided never again. The Stones haven't been quite as consistant in recent years as Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Elton John and U2, all of which are veterans that hit a lull at one point in their careers and yet all of them picked themselves back up and ended up recording some of their best ever work afterwards. The Stones albums for the past 20 years have been nothing more or less than an excuse for a world tour.

well, Lindsey, Ashlee and Hilary don't sell albums on the merits of the music as much as it sells on their celebrity, and even then, Lindsey's last cd has been flopping pretty hard, it came out during the holiday season and yet has managed to sell less than 200,000. Ashlee did have one bonafide hit with "Pieces Of Me" but none of her other singles have exactly been hits IMO, and Hilary is all hype

I just don't think that there is any feeling in his playing. I know quite a few people are going to disagree with me here, which is okay, but I don't think that Hendrix plays with the same sort of feeling as other players like Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Eddie Van Halen.

I'm not arguing about the way you feel. I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I respect that. I just think there has been a big anti-Jimi sentiment among those who are younger, and because he isn't around any longer, that he didn't have the opportunity to perform before the new generation, and that is too bad because before Jimi no one was playing like that.
Again I respect you opinion, and this is not an argument.

 I did give Jimi a try. Back during the fall of my senior year of high school (the fall of 1993) I bought a Hendrix greatest hits collection, and I listened to it about a half a dozen times, but I just could not get into his music. I just felt that it was totally without heart. I do remember that most of my friends thought I was crazy for thinking this.

I have to agree. I'm not going to defend every idol, but for one, Carrie can definitely sing. Her vocals are beyond amazing. I've seen her from the front row, and I was blown away. That's probably why she's nominated tonight for Top Female Vocalist and Top New Female Vocalist at the ACM Awards.

Any country singer. They all have the same voice, all from some boring southern state, all yap about dry-humping their Ford pickup, drinking whiskey and/or beer while line dancing at some crummy bar.
If you're referring to generic male country artists like George Strait, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, etc., then yeah, that's pretty accurate. However, 90% of female country artists dont' fit that stereotype at all.

My mom LOVES Alan Jackson and Toby Keith. In my opinion, Toby seems to come off as someone with a major additude problem. I think "generic" is the perfect word to lable these two guys with.

 They definitely are generic! I do like about 2 of Alan's songs, but the rest completely bore me. I also don't understand what people see in his live shows, or how he has won Entertainer of the Year before. Unfortunately, BOTH Martina and Sara have toured with him, so I had to pay most of the money to HIM just to see the real talent. I agree about Toby's attitude. It's so annoying. Ever since he became a country "superstar" within the past 5 years, it's completely gone to his head. Now every single song is either about a bar, or about patriotism. You can only do so much of that before it gets old!

Any rapper. I hate rap. Deal with it.
Any female from the past, oh, 10 years. Including teens and adults. It's like, it would kill these women to just sing clearly without putting in all the fancy "look what I can kinda do with my voice!!" garbage. These women would never make it in a HS choir.
Madonna. She's not that great a singer and her songs are stupid.
Mariah Carey now. She used to be good.
Janet Jackson. Another woman who can't sing.
Agreed on all counts, excpet for Mariah Carey. She used to be good, then she turned bad, now she seems to be on the rebound.
Add Queen Latifah - whether she's rapping or singing - to that list. :barf:

I'm not a country fan at all, but if I had to choose men or women to listen to, I'd choose the men in a heartbeat. While I won't argue that about the vocal abilities of Martina McBride, Faith Hill, etc., all their songs sound the same to me, and they are all so sappy. At least the men sound a little different to me. But to each his own.

I really don't think that it requires much talent to win American Idol. I agree that Carrie Underwood does have some talent. But Kelly Clarkson? And we're talking about a show where one of the judges is Paula Abdul. That should say it all right there. Sorry to AI fans, but this is my opinion.
kelly clarkson has tons of talent...just cause her new album is rock doesn't mean she's always been this way. if you've heard some stuff from her AI days, you would definitley change your mind  she's had some amazing vocals. and not just her- there have been a LOT of really amazing performances/singers to come out of AI. it obviously takes talent to win AI, although some winners are more talented then others (*COUGHCARRIECOUGH*). i don't know how much of AI you've wathched or what part of it you've wathced- but if you've ever watched performances from the finals of it, you would definitley change your mind about people on AI not having talent. and as for paula- no one listens to her anyway

Even though I do believe there's some kind of rigging taking place, all indications suggested that "Soul Patrol" was a bigger group than "McPhever."

YES! Her only talent is copping an attitude. She got her start making percussive noises with her mouth in a Newark rap group at sixteen, which requires no talent at all, then became a rap star at nineteen with her first album, and everyone priased her simply because, unlike so many other rappers, she was female. Rap itself is for no-talents who couldn't carry a tune if they had a handle on it and couldn't sing the Hallelujah chorus if they had a Handel on it! No one wants to say the Queen is a fraud because she could squish you like a grape. I'm sure she's encountered people who said to her that rap sucks. . . and those were their last words!
