Hi,
I love this show because I love Ann Sothern. I wouldn't say she's as funny as Lucille Ball but she's funny in a different way, not physical comedy like Lucy. I bought a set of 4 DVD's of "Private Secretary", which is the Ann Sothern show. I love them and they were reasonably priced, I either bought them on Overstock.com or Critics Choice video.

I'll answer you!
I know very little about it, but I know that she played a character named Susie McNamara, she was single, and she worked as a secretary. Oh yes, I know also, that it was on CBS on sunday nights. Also, the reruns are sometimes called "Susie" or "Private secretary". I think the show was also called "Private secretary" sometimes, because I have an episode of "The Jack Benny show" on VHS, and at the end, the announcer-Don Wilson, who also was the announcer on his radio show-says "We hope you tune in next week at this time, for Ann Sothern starring in 'Private secretary' ".

You are getting two shows confused - Ann Sothern first starred in Executive Secretary, which was renamed "susie" in syndication. Afterwards, she starred in "The Ann Sothern Show", which after a season or so had the stars from Executive Secretary join the cast.
I loved Ann Sothern - to me, her comedy was as great as Lucy's, just a different sort of comedy.

Good if not very timely catch, but her other show is Private Secretary, not exectutive.
She was an assistant manager of a hotel in this one. As far as comedy style, she was a reactive comedian versus the active styles of Lucy and Jackie.
