Before that he was off coordinator at New Orleans for a few years.
He was QB coach in GreenBay in the late 90's, so they may have done it in part to keep Favre around.

Why so he can break the record for the most interceptions in one decade?-lol

There was no reason to let Sherman go. Just because you don't have the players doesn't mean the coach is bad. If that's the case, every coach the Atlanta Hawks have had since 2000 has been bad. Coaches do not win games, players do.

Exactly!! You know what they say though, the coach gets most of the credit when you win, but also gets the most blame when you lose, whether deservedely or not. For the most part, I think Sherman has done a pretty good job, and like you, don't think he should have been fired. What I don't get is why do teams rush so quickly to get a new coach?? I mean, you got the whole offseason to search, so wouldn't you want to weigh out all your options, and get the best guy possible??

Sherman was fired because his team WENT BACKWARD after the 4th and 26 Playoff game in 2004. The next season the Packers loss in the 2005 NFC wildcard game and then the following season the Packers don't make the playoffs at all. So now you should understand why he was fired.

He shouldn't have been fired. It was his players that played like **** this year. He, unfortunately is just the fall guy, just as so many coaches are unfortunately. No reason to fire a good, experienced coach, for some guy who most people have never even heard of. When you're doing bad, you need to find better players, not a worst coach. And if you are going to get a new coach, you should atleast spend more then a week searching for them. IMO

So the coach should never be fired because the players are the ones losing the game????????????????????????

Of course coaches should be fired, I just don't think you should give up on a coach that has been pretty good for you, over one bad season. And you certainly don't trade him in a week, for some guy with very little credentials. Like I said, if you're going to get a new coach, you should atleast put a little more thought and time into it. I mean lets face it, if Favre retires, then this guy will probably be gone in two years himself, so what's the point of firing Sherman, if in two years this new guy most likely won't even be around??

Well, I guess that's a matter of opinion. Do you believe if they had this new guy that they're getting now, over the last three seasons, that they would have done better than they did with Sherman?? This new coach just seems like a waste to me.

Sherman should have been fired when he was SCARED to go for it on 4th and 1 with 2 min left in the 4th qtr up 17-14 in a Playoff Game. No that A$$hole gives Mcnabb another chance to beat them instead of putting the game away.

All I know is that 5 years ago, Seahawks fans, as well as the sports media, was saying that Mike Holmgren should quit because of his innability to get out of the first round of the playoffs. They stuck with him though, and are the second best team record wise this year, and are in the second round of the playoffs, so sometimes it's good to stick with a guy, even when he's struggling. I think, had the Packs stayed with Sherman, things eventually would have turned around.
