the ups and downs (syndrome) of dating

a girl I know is currently dating a guy who has downs syndrome and it leads me to wonder, who else here would date someone who was mentally disabled if given the chance? In a way, it seems like she treats him like a conquest the way she talks about him (she calls him "mongoboy" and "mongolover", both plays on "Mongoloid") as opposed to really acting like she cares about him. Has anyone else been in situations where either they would go out with somebody who has downs syndrome or knows anybody who has?

I haven't been in that situation nor any one I know, but.....:eek: no offence, but that's a lil bit messed up of her.

That would be relal really REALLY hard. I wonder if she is treating him more like a SON that she loves, rather than a boyfriend.

But i dunno... I mean, look at Forest Gump (cause you know, movies are based on real life, right?)
