Does anyone remember what the rating was for the final episode.
Thanks.

I've never seen the last episode. Why does everyone I've ever spoken to think it sucked? What was wrong with it?

It was bad. The last show was expected to be good but it wasn't. I don't remember all of it but they were put in jail I think for doing something stupid--can't remember what it was though. I'll have to try to search for my tape if nobody else can fill you in. But it was pretty bad. Not a good way to go out for such a hit show.

I remember watching the last episode of Seinfeld, and I can't say that it was bad, buy very disappointing. I thought that we would get a great finale in this episode, but seeing them end up in jail, wasn't my idea of the perfect finale. It had good music in it, and I think that was the only good thing in it.

I think the IDEA of the ep was ok...but it just wasn't very good, the ending up in jail thing just dind't fit! I guess though they wanted something original...and that, they got. I hope they do a reunion someday...which I'm sure they will, but I hope they do a better job with that, than they did with this.

Why did they all end up in jail? What did they do?

come on, the last episode was great. People expected too much, watch it a couple more times...you learn to love it..

THey watched while a man was being robbed, and were even videotaping him being robbed. Under the state law, they had to help him, but didn't, and then were given a trial and put in jail.

Janet(talking about buying Roper's car): Chrissy, it's the answer to ourprayers.
Chrissy:That's not true. Nobody prayed.
Janet:Okay, then let's start. Please, God, make Chrissy change her mind.
Jack: Or better yet give her one!

I don't know what the exact ratings were for the finale, but I'm sure they were through the roof.
I've heard some interesting theories about the Seinfeld finale, one of the more interesting of which is that it was deliberately made to be an inferior episode.
For some explanations of that theory (and others) go to www.jumptheshark.com (http://www.jumptheshark.com) and then go to Seinfeld. Very interesting reading.
One thing my wife and I noticed about the final episode of Seinfeld...remember when Jackie Chiles (Kramer's Johnny Cochran-imitation attorney) ended up in bed with Sidra (Terry "They're real...and they're spectacular" Hatcher)? We wondered if that was the first time a black man and a white woman were shown in bed together on network TV? Anyone know any other examples of interracial sleeping like that (B/M W/F)?
Another poster pointed out that the conversation Jerry and George had in the cell and the end of the finale was the same (meaningless) conversation that the two of them had in the FIRST episode of Seinfeld. So, apparently, there was a lot of symbolism in the finale, but you'd really have to study it (and know the entire series really well) to find it all...I, too, was disappointed with the finale, but maybe I'll go back and watch it again some day.

TVLanFan - Have you ever read a book entitled 'Seinfeld & Philosophy'? If you haven't I suggest you pick up a copy, I reckon you'd find it pretty interesting. It's the best book I've read in ages.

Mossopp - No, I haven't heard of that book, but I'll definitely keep an eye out for it... Thanks!

I know that Seinfeld was in the top 10 for that season, and I belive that the percentage of viewers that evening was 70.1.
