NBA TV has bought reruns of Twentieth TV's "The White Shadow," with Ken Howard as a high-school basketball coach. It's the first scripted-series buy for the network in its six-year history.

Episodes of "White Shadow" will get a showcase this week on NBA TV to celebrate the kickoff of the National Basketball Assn.'s 2005-06 season.

Simultaneous with its sale to NBA TV, the first season's worth of 15 hourlong episodes of "White Shadow" will go out on DVD in a four-disc set for $39.98.

Pav you beat me to it. I was just checking the NBA-TV listings for this week and noticed an episode would be airing Wednesday afternoon.

Hope these airings will spur interest in the dvd set and we'll get season 2 soon.

'Shadow' Emerges From NBA TV

NBA TV is adding reruns of "The White Shadow" to its lineup, marking the first time the network has carried a scripted series. Not coincidentally, 20th Century Fox is putting out on DVD the first season of the show-which ran on CBS from 1978 to 1981 and features Ken Howard as a former Chicago Bulls player who takes a teaching job at an inner-city high school. In addition to running five episodes beginning with the pilot on Nov. 2, NBA Entertainment has created "White Shadow" DVD commercials and a two-minute vignette about the series that will appear during the episodes, in addition to opening and closing billboards promoting the DVD. NBA TV will also telecast live a "White Shadow" event being held Nov. 9 at the NBA Store in New York. While Fox is paying the NBA for the promotion, Steve Herbst, VP and general manager of NBA TV, said the network is "wading into the world of scripted programming and we think 'The White Shadow' would be a great place to start."

I meant to check for future airings before I left home but I forgot. If I'm not mistaken, the pilot will be airing today (Wednesday Nov 2) at 3 p.m. eastern time. I would imagine they'll be showing episodes during the daytime if they'll have current games airing at night.

I didn't even know there was an NBA TV Network.

Not sure about everywhere, but it's a digital channel on my cable system. It's part of a sports package you pay $4 a month for. If you've got it on your system, I believe they're having a free preview week that started yesterday.

I just recently obtained NBA TV in my new cable line-up and noticed White Shadow on this channel, however, looking at the NBA website, I can't find a current schedule for the show. Can anyone tell me what the schedule is for it?
