I had posted a similar thread regarding John Lennon, but I soon realized there are alot of younger people here...so I made this thread so they too can post.

Believe it or not, I had just been BITTEN BY A DOG!!!! and taken to the Emergency room. On the way over there, the car stereo was on and the D.J. was taking requests for songs, when a young girl said she didn't want to request a song, but she wanted to find out if it was true Princess Diana died in a car accident? The D.J. was shocked at her statement. He apologized to the listeners and said he has no verification of such a thing happening. But he also said how tragic it would be if it's true. I soon found out in the ER when one of the rooms they put me in had their t.v. on and there it was on the news. I was sooooo horrified. I forgot abt the pain in my leg and began crying for her, rather than my pain.

I heard it on the radio while I was driving. When the funeral came around, I stayed at a friends house that night, we stayed up all night to watch it:(

I was in bed asleep and my then husband woke me up with the news. I stayed up the rest of the night watching CNN; I couldn't believe it. The day of her funeral I cried my eyes out..I haven't felt so much sadness in a long time even after finding out I was pregnant that same day.

Five....

She died on August 31, 1997.

I don't remember what I did the day (night) she died...I heard it was 4 a.m. over in Paris when she died, so it would have to have been 10 p.m. my time when she died. I had just turned 12 two weeks prior. I do remember watching her funeral on TV a few days later, and I bawled my eyes out. It was so sad. :(

I remember this so well! My husband and I were at our campground in Northern Michigan where we have a trailer(RV) Well......... we were at the annual Labor Day dance that they have. We got back to the campsite at around midnight and we turned on the radio and heard that Diana had been in a car accident. But I didn't know that she had died until the next morning. So sad...........:(

I was coming back from Home Depot. It was late. I felt this eeriness inside of me that I couldn't shake. My husband was driving me and I kept thinking about a car crash. I felt this Huge car crash. (I get vibes sometimes).

When I got home and put the TV on I saw that Princess Diana's car had crashed and Dodi AlFayed was dead. I was in  Then they showed the car on TV and my husband said that he didn't think anyone survived that car crash. Sadly he was right.

I was on the telephone with my best friend Ian, and he told me to turn on the tv. I didn't really know much about Princess Diana, so it didn't really hit me too hard, but even I was shocked hearing that she had died. My most vivid memory of that week was how bad I felt for mother Theresa, who had also died right around the same time. The media didn't really seem to care much about her death, and I remember that upset me quite a bit.

I was heading back to the motel in L.A. on the first evening of my vacation that Saturday night after shopping. I had walked for blocks with groceries and was tired and turned on the t.v. to see some news of what I thought was just one of those royalty divorce soap operas that was going on around her and Prince Charles. I thought, gee, would people just leave this poor woman alone?? And then they announced the REAL reason for the broadcast--Di had been killed in a high-speed crash in Paris, along with her possible future husband Dodi Fayyed.

I was SHOCKED and saddened. :(

I was at my friends father's house during the Labor Day weekend when we heard about it. We practically stayed up all night to hear what would happen. The next day when it was confirmed she had died we both were just in shock.

I was watching SNL, and thought maybe it was a skit or something at first. Until obviously it was more serious and not funny. I think the only reason I thought it might have been, was because they did a skit in which they said that they were interrupting our program for some breaking news, and then they did this skit on the McCoy Septuplets falling down a well.

I think it was like 1am here. I was watching TV and I saw the headlines on one of the news stations. I didn't believe it at first. I seriously thought I was dreaming.

Wasn't that horrible? Two wonderful, caring women died within five days of each other. They had met with each other numerous times. There is a pic of Diana with Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa had given Di a rosary. Di was buried with this Rosary. Such a tragedy.

I actually still have a picture of her, with Mother Teresa in my closet somewhere. Iv'e kept it after all these years. I also have all the Time magazines with Princess Diana, and Mother Teresa on the cover. Even at 16 years old, I realized the signifigance of their deaths. I didn't know that Princess Diana was buried with a Rosary given to her by Mother Teresa. That just makes the whole thing even more touching to me. Anyway, you're absolutely right, we definitely lost two great women that week.
