LOL! Most of the songs have nonsensical titles too!

I love "Tequila" by the Champs! LOL

Yeah, notice alot of those 50's songs & 60's songs had crazy titles, crazy lyrics. What is the name of that song where the guy says "Back to the jungle" and you hear in the background the sound of a tribe in the jungle; then the song refers to back in the city and you hear a rock and roll beat? I know it's a crazy song from that era and I know someone hear knows the title. I can hear it in my head as I type this. I just heard it the other day on my oldies station.
Also, that crazy song where the lyrics go: "if you want to be happy for the rest of your life, got to make an UGLY woman your wife" LMAO!!!

Oh man, look at the lyrics for Short Shorts!   ;)

[Spoken:]
Ooh man, dig that crazy chick.

Who wears short shorts
We wear short shorts
They're such short shorts
We like short shorts
Who wears short shorts
We wear short shorts.

[Repeat 2x]

THIS IS THE ENTIRE SONG, NOT A LONG CHORUS!  ! Funny, I first heard this song in a Nair commercial. The commercial featured this lady with shaven legs because she used(s) NAIR and she was wearing short shorts and was at the beach on some cute guys shoulders. he was kind of spinning around with her clinging to him smiling. The song went, "Who wears short shorts? She wears short shorts." I didn't even know that was a real song. I thgought that was a made up jingle for the NAIR company!

"Alley Oop" - the Hollywood Argyles
That entered the top 40 in June, 1960, but 1960 was pretty much the same as the '50s.
And I agree... I like about 90% of '50s music but not that one. It went to #1 (unfortunately) for one week.

Nervous Norvus, 1956. I actually have that on some album buried in a closet.

That first one you mentioned sounds like "Stranded in the Jungle" by the Cadets (1956).

And the second one is "If You Wanna Be Happy," by Jimmy Soul, 1963.

Well, technically, 1960 was the last year of the 196th decade of the Christian calendar, i.e., the 50's, because there was no year zero. Plus, in 1960 Ike was still President and cars still had lots of chrome. :D

Going further, everyone knows that music does not change right on the first day of a new decade. '50s music (and style and, yes, cars) lasted until about 1963; '60s music until maybe 1971 and '70s music until 1981, give or take a year or so either way. ;)
