If you nocticed there were 2 girls on the show that potrayed Becky. I like the first one. She was able to take on Darlene. The second one was real pretty but presented more of the airhead type of image which made it easier for Darlene to take cheap shots at her. Darlene really couldn't do that with first one. What do you think?

I agree the 2nd Becky would be the one I would want to date, but the 1st Becky is the one you would want to take home to your parents..

I like the first Becky best. I loved the way she always yelled "MOTHER!" at Roseanne. Besides that, the new Becky came after she was married and as responsible as she could be with Mark, and Becky never shanged much in that time.

orginal Becky was the best. Faux Becky was pretty but couldnt act. Think thats why ABC brought back Lecy in what was suppose to be Roseanne's last season.

I agree about the Second Becky having a sweet nature and boy was she pretty. However the character was more defined in Lecy Goranson(Becky #1). She and Sara were better at potraying squabbling siblings. Becky #2 and Darlene were more distant.

Oh, I would definetely say the first Becky, simply because she was the better actress. The quality of the episodes were'nt affected by the second Becky, but something just was'nt right...

Becky #1 was my favorite. I liked the way she would argue with Roseanne, she would roll her eyes up and even when she cried it was believable, She was so emotional.

Two problems with Sarah Chalke (Becky #2): she couldn't act, and they changed the Becky character into a ditzy-blond-type. Lecy Goranson is highly underrated -- Sara Gilbert got all the good press, but Lecy was terrific in the scenes where she argued with her parents or Darlene. Very believable.

I would even argue that Lecy can be as attractive as Sarah Chalke. That short pageboy hairdo was a problem, but when she came back at the beginning of season 8, her hair was longer and she looked really good. Unfortunately, a few episodes later, it was back to the pageboy.

I'd be curious to find out why Lecy didn't stick around for the last season. Obviously, she had scheduling problems in season 8, when Sarah Chalke occasionally filled in for her. I loved the episode where they were talking about going to Disney World. Sarah was filling in for Lecy, and Roseanne said to Becky, "Aren't you glad you're here this week?" Very funny.

I liked the first Becky until she got that horrid pageboy haircut (and wicked attitude to match). I had always thought Darlene would be the ultimate problem child, but Becky pushed Dan's and Roseanne's buttons just a little too much. The second Becky had a slightly more soothing personality (although she was able to defend herself without throwing a tantum). Becky #1 had just too much of a personality change after she began dating Mark. Whether intentional or not by the writers (and Roseanne), she was just too annoying.

I think Becky 2 was more quiet and not so yelling becuase when she came back she had matured and Becky 1 was always yelling and stuff because she was in high school and dating. I really am a Darlene fan so I was happy they didnt replace her when she went to college

They are both so different but I enjoyed watching both Becky's.

Becky #1 did get a bit annoying after she started dating Mark. That bad haircut and color always distracted me, too, during the dating Mark years.

Also, I never totally believed that a hunk like Mark would've married the first Becky.

They were both good actresses but the show didn't focus as much on Becky when Sarah Chalke portrayed the character. It seemed like Mark and David had bigger roles than the Conner children in seasons 6-8.

When shows have same characters/different actors, I usually prefer the 1st actor, and that's how I feel about Becky, I liked Lecy Goranson better. I liked the inside jokes that they made though.

I totally agree. I find it funny that people have said that Sarah Chalke couldn't act, yet she's gone on to a very successful run on Scrubs - where's Lecy these days?

I also didn't like the first Becky because she was just too much of a whiner and had a HUGE attitude problem. I think when they changed to Sarah, they had the character mature since she was now married and living away, therefore, she didn't have the "meat" in the role that Lecy did. Lecy did fit the Connor family though in looks and class - it was like Sarah discovered she could be "more".

And I guess I'm also a little bias since Sarah is a fellow Canuck! ;)

Sarah IMO brought heart to the character. I hated when they switched back and forth, and was glad when Sarah stayed, cause when Lecy was on, I had to mute the tv cause of her whining :mad:

Me too! I don't know how often I would say under my breath that I would have bitch slapped the sh&t out of Lecy's Becky!! God I HATED her!! Darlene would talk back, but at least it was usually an intelligent, witty, sarcastic crack that made sense!

Yeah Sarah's Becky with Darlene was a great combo, Lecy's Becky with Darlene, I always wanted Darlene to bitchslap her a good one ;)

Darlene was the best Roseanne daughter and Conner kid in general, but that's another topic. :)

I always perfered Lecy's Becky over Sarah's Becky. I notice when Sarah joined the cast the producers really dumbed down the Becky character yet when Lecy rejoined they made her out to be smarter again. Lecy's Becky also didn't take a lot of crap from Mark whereas Sarah's did. It also seemed like Sarah would yell her lines and walk really weird into scenes and Lecy didn't.

I'm one of those who thinks the show was better Becky-LESS. Seasons 5 and 6 of Roseanne are the best seasons in my opinion. Becky added nothing to the makeup of the family imo. It was also apparent by then that Darlene (Sara Gilbert) had become the main daughter of the show.

I'm sorry but after hearing all of this Lecy's bashing I have to step in. Sarah Chalke wasn't the most perfect one, she whined just as much as Lecy's Becky did. And as someone said before she always yelled her lines and she just wasn't very convincing on the show like Lecy was. And I guess that's why they only had her in each season for no more than 12 or 13 episodes. And when Lecy came back as Becky she was definitely mature by then and she definitely wasn't as bitchy as she used to be. I actually liked it when Lecy's Becky was bitchy because she was able to make you think she was being for real. Lecy chooses not to go that big in acting, she only does plays now and B movies. And I think she's being smart by staying out of TV shows and movies cause she would only be typecasted anyway.

I prefer Lecy's Becky. I've noticed that Sarah raised her voice at Roseanne in almost every epsiode she was in. At least Lecy's Becky gave you a break every now and then. Also, the episode where Becky and her friend get drunk was too funny and well-acted. That episode sealed my opinion on my favorite Becky.
