have for guests at an informal dinner sitting at your table asking whatever you wanted and chatting for hours? and why would you choose them? Mind you, it could be anyone, famous, non-famous, infamous, rich, poor, alive, dead, it's your call, any people you want.
My guest list would be:
My late mother. She died when I was 6. I would want to know everything I never had the opportunity to ask.
Princess Diana. I loved her and admired her for
putting up with a lie of a marriage and yet being dignified in public regardless of what was going wrong in her life.
Tina Turner: Pretty obvious. Talk abt her life before and after her ex-husband.
Sophia Loren: I have always loved her and admired her beauty, talent, but most of all her life before she became famous. She is fascinating.
John Travolta: He is the man I wish I could marry. But seriously, he is just perfect. He loves his wife, his kids, his family, I have never heard a bad thing said abt him, he is just perfect to me.
Oprah Winfrey: What could I say. I like all the work she does and especially the charity work.
Mother Teresa: I would want to know everything abt her.

my dad - remember two meetings. I would get the chance to learn about the man for myself.
Marjory Stonemam Douglas - http://www.everglades.org/msd.html
Thich Nhat Hanh - One of his many books, "Peace Is Every Step" changed my life - http://www.seaox.com/thich.html
His Holiness the 14th the Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso - C'mon
Babe Ruth - obvious(greatest player of all-time) Probably had as much fun/happiness as anyone. and with that comes the times that weren't so great which creates one hell of a dynamic person
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - The greatest composer forever of: piano concerti, violin concerti, concerti for wind instruments, symphonies and opera. Not bad for a 35 year old.
Martin Luther King Jr. - wanted equality for all and wasn't afraid to try and actually get it.

Let's see..
Selena- I have always wanted to meet her. Her death was soooo unfair and wrong!
My grandfather- I would always fight with him. He died when I was five. So much fun. Last time I saw him, I brought him a crunch bar shortly before he went into a coma:(
Princess Diana- I have to agree. I admire her for putting up with that %(^*%!
John Ritter- I think he was the first celebrity I cried my eyes out over when he died. So unexpected and unfair.
Kaitlyn- A girl in my school two years ago who died on Ash Wednesday. I wish I could've gotten to know her longer than I did.
That's all I can think of for right now. Off to bed for me! :happyface

Lucille Ball: How could I forget to add her to my list. She is the ultimate. I have always loved her. I miss her.
John Lennon: He was the first famous person for whom I cried when he died. Lucille Ball was the second, Princess Diana was the third.
Yep, these added two would be at my dinner table obviously.
Selena, so sad. So special she was. pure intentional murder. no accident.

My Poppy (Dad's Dad) : I never met him for I was only 2 when he passed away...but I hear such great things about him and the love he had for me when I was an infant. He even saved my life when I was a baby. I'd love to just hug him and talk to him, let him know how I'm doing.
My Nana ( Mom's Mom ): She passed away from cancer a few years ago and I miss her so much. I'd love to talk with her one last time.
John Lennon: I bet there would be some interesting topics covered if he was invited. Plus, I'd make him sing to me ;)
John Ritter: I love love loveeee this man. I bet he'd have us all in stitches.
members of my family/friends: I'd invite everyone I know currently and am close with.

Selena: If she were alive and I had any real chance of ever meeting her at all, she would be the only one. I wouldn't care about any other person. She was such a fun, down to earth person. We need more people like this.
Shakira: Such an intelligent person. I would love to talk with her about so many things.
Bonnie Bedelia: This woman amazes me to no end. I wish I knew more about her. She's so talented and...interesting.
Susan Sarandon: Another amazing one. She seems like fun.
Tommy Leee Jones: I love him. I love his movies. He seems very cool and laid back and stuff.
Johnny Depp: For...obvious reasons.
Cathy Moriarty: She seems like fun. She seems very down to earth as well. And her voice is so funny...
I guess that's it. I probably forgot a few...

- Abraham Lincoln
- Pres. G.W. Bush (so I can tell him to close the borders and stop spending so much, but to congratulate him on getting us out of the recession he inherited)
- Laura Bush (because she was a librarian... we could discuss many subjects)
- Jimmy Stewart (to discuss his many movies)
- Marilyn vos Savant (listed in the Guinness book of world records for highest I.Q.)

- Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly (to discuss political matters)
- Janice (of Sitcoms Online fame)
- Janet Tripper (of Sitcoms Online fame and a major Joyce DeWitt fan)

my paternal grandma- she died like a year before I was born, so I never got to know her. I've heard many things about her and she was a wonderful person.
my great grandma- she died before I was born and my mom always said she was her favorite grandma. Her daughter is my grandma now and she's a wonderful person so I always wondered if her mother would be similar.
John Ritter- I never got to meet him and I really started to become a fan only like a few years or less before he died. I never cried (or at all) so much over a celebrity dying in my life.
Conan O'Brien- 'nuff said.
Hanson- obvious reasons.
That's all I can think of now. if I think of more people I'll edit those in!

hmmmmmm.....
Richard Dawson- duh. Seriously, I could sit and listen to this man talk for days about himself, other people, grass growing...he could make politics interesting! His life facinates me and he seems like such an intelligent man.
Bill Bixby- another intelligent man with a very interesting life story.
Martin Milner- ditto. I'd love to hear about his time on Route 66.
My paternal grandfather- he died before I was born, so I'd like to meet him, see what made him tick. Maybe I could learn more about things my dad won't discuss.
Melissa Joan Hart and Jennifer Love Hewitt- I don't know, they just seem like cool women.
Nate Richert- eye candy for dessert. :D
All my online friends
William Shatner, Marcia Cross, and anyone else my friends would want to come
hmmm....I can't think of anymore off hand.
That is an odd blend of people though, isn't it?

Hey this is a cool thread made by Irene. :D
Yeah, and as usual, this is my 1st time seeing it!! :D
For me -
Princess Diana & John F. Kennedy, Jr. - I've always admired both of them, and just the fact that both of them died at such a young age....
George Clooney - I've always liked him and actually got to meet him. What you see is what you get, and I think he would ALOT of humor & life to my dinner. Plus I think he's the kind of guy who would help you in the kitchen!!
Barry Manilow - I've been a fan of his since I was a kid, and I just want him there!!
The guys from my favorite band, Dream Theater, especially James LaBrie(singer) & Mike Portnoy(drummer). MOST espec. Mike because I've met him quite a few times and he's just a great guy to talk to. I think he'd be a great dinner guest. A long time ago, I won a contest to have dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe with another band. These days, I would love to win that same contest, only with Dream Theater!!
My friend, David, who died in 1990. I think about him often.

John Ritter- Basically my favorite person that has ever lived. He died way too soon, and brought so much joy to the world. I wish I could've met him. :(
Tina Fey- She's my idol. I admire her wit so much and just feel that our personalities are very similar, and we'd get along really well.
Lucille Ball- Another idol of mine. She was an amazing person.
Celebrities aside, I'd also choose my deceased grandfathers, both my mom's and my dad's dad, who died when I was too small to remember much about them.
My SO friends- they know who they are
My father, who died when i was 19 y/o.

Robert Palmer - One of the most brilliant and unappreciated classic rock acts of the late 20th century and my personal idol. If you look up "versatile" in the dictionary, his photo should be there. He was a very interesting man and I could have talked with him for hours.
Joel Hodgson - Creator of MST3K and great comedian, I'd have a ball talking to him about his craft of constantly reinventing prop comedy.
John Larroquette - Duh. I would be weird if I didn't include him in this list. In real life he's well read, highly intelligent, sweet and incredibly funny. I'd have a great time talking to him and I'm sure in turn he could recommend me a lot of interesting material to read.
Ashley Tisdale - The coolest star of the High School Musical cast, I'd love to goof off with her. I could also identify with her because the both of us were born in 1985.
Mike Nelson - Ah yes, my other favorite MST3K host! I'd ask a lot of questions about how he's able to make fun of and tolerate all those terrible movies!
I have a ton of other people to add to this list, but to keep it short, this is just off the top of my head.

I would have an awesome dinner party! Let's see...whom would I invite??
Frank Zappa - champion of free speech and freedom of expression and the most creative musician who ever lived
Steve Allen - because he was quite an intelligent man and could practically talk about any subject on the level of a college professor
My brother-in-law Rich Berton - same reason as Steve Allen, except he's alive
tv star collector (Karl) - boy oh boy the stories I'd love to hear about being a kid in the '50s living the Howdy Doody experience (and everything else the 1950s had to offer) first hand!
Buffalo Bob Smith - for obvious reasons AND the fact that, to me, he was one of the most progressive and open-minded people that ever lived. I respect and admire him deeply for that.
My husband, Roger
At least 4 of my closest friends from the XBTRS chat site on yuku.com
My BFF, lunatic61
My mother-in-law, Anna Berton and my father-in-law, Phil Berton - because they are simply awesome!
Pierre Berton - because he did so many things and talked with so many people throughout the world
Geddy Lee - lead singer of Rush
Roger Waters - one of the founding members of Pink Floyd
Michael Moore - for humor and because I agree with a lot of his stuff.

William Merritt, the man who initiated the Welland Canal project in 1824 for (initially) selfish reasons* then practically bankrupted himself to make it happen, after he saw how it could be a great boon to the entire country!
