Thank God we have this man to inform us that our President is a racist who doesn't care about black people. In addition to that, he's let us in on the fact that AIDS was created by the U.S. government to exterminate Africans in Africa.

What would we do without this man?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanye_West (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanye_West)

On 2 July 2005 West appeared on the Philadelphia bill of Live 8, using the global platform to refer to "man-made diseases placed in African communities", expressing his belief that AIDS was created by the U.S. government to exterminate Africans in Africa (see also OPV AIDS hypothesis). He made the parallel between the government using AIDS to exterminate Africans and using crack to destroy African-American communities and halt the civil rights movement. He also criticised politicians for "riding home in their Benzs and Bentleys while poor Africans starve".

Now this genius of social injustice tells us, through his music, that Ronald Reagan put crack cocaine in the blacks communites to keep them down.

http://www.gwhatchet.com/media/paper332/news/2005/09/08/Opinions/Column.More.Than.Just.A.Rapper-978469.shtml (http://www.gwhatchet.com/media/paper332/news/2005/09/08/Opinions/Column.More.Than.Just.A.Rapper-978469.shtml)

On "Crack Music," West raps, "How you stop the Black Panthers? / Ronald Reagan cooked up an answer." For readers who don't understand what that means, West is suggesting that President Reagan put crack-cocaine in the ghettos of the African American community to pacify the Black Power movement.

WEST REVEALS RACIAL LINES IN SLANG USE

Hip-hop star KANYE WEST is advising his white counterparts that they can only use certain slang terms when they're out of style for black people.

The JESUS WALKS rapper - who recently charged that US President GEORGE W BUSH "doesn't care" about African Americans - believes that certain slang words should only be able to cross racial barriers when they're no longer in style for black people.

He says, "I think white people are allowed to say 'bling'. They are allowed to say old-school black slang, like 'hottie' and 'homie'.

"Actually, I do not think that (white people) are allowed to use slang until it is at least a year old. If you say a slang word too early, it's like you're trying to be black. So as long as the slang is a little played out, you're all good."

Mr. West is apparently a foreign-relation's expert too. He croons that President Bush gave Saddam anthrax. Another mystery solved! Forget Bolton, sign Kanye West up for the UN post.

"I know the government administers AIDS," West claims in "Heard 'em Say," repeating a dangerous conspiracy theory that detracts from his much more valid questioning of the hypocrisies of the war on drugs and the war in Iraq. "Crack raised the murder rate in D.C. and Maryland/We invested in that/It's like we got Merrill-Lynched," he raps in "Crack Music," before going on to ask, "Who gave Saddam anthrax?/ George Bush [has] got the answers." :music:

In all seriousness, does that make it right? Imagine if a white celebrity cracked a joke about the black community. There would be a furious uprising. Just because he is black, doesn't excuse him from responsibility. As a matter of fact, a white golfer by the name of Fuzzy Zoeller cracked a joke about Tiger Woods and was practically run out of the sport because of it.

"That little boy is driving well and he's putting well. He's doing everything it takes to win. So, you know what you guys do when he gets in here? You pat him on the back and say congratulations and enjoy it and tell him not serve fried chicken next year. Got it?"

Then Zoeller smiled, snapped his fingers, and walked away. Then he turned and added, "or collard greens or whatever the hell they serve."

Now if that ain't the pot calling the kettle black!!!!!!
From another thread I know he has a duplicate painting on his living room ceiling of the LAST JUDGMENT, same one that's on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. But the difference is, HIS FACE adorns all the persons in that painting!!!! ARROGANT S.O.B.!!!! You can't tell me he doesn't have a HUMONGOUS GARAGE with at LEAST 20 cars. That's all those stupid arrogant, egotistical jerks do once they hit the bankroll, they get their bling, they get more cars than they can drive, they get mansions, they have all day and night parties' in those mansions.
When is he gonna get off his ass and go wade in waist deep water like Harry Connick Jr, Sean Penn and Matthew McCaughnahey (sp?)????? Those three guys were out there assisting with victims who remain behind, helping get dogs and cats to shelters. They didn't complain abt being in that dirty water. You think Kanye would do that crap??? Oh hell no.
Chris Rock went to the dome in Texas and assisted with bringing clothes, food, $$$$ etc. Julia Roberts donated $$$$, visited with the victims, brought baby food and formula and help to distribute those items. Steven Spielberg donated $$$$$$. George Clooney donated $$$$$ and supplies. John Travolta took his own plane filled with tons of food, water, medicine, pillows, blankets, clothes that he and his wife bought themselves and distributed themselves with help from others. Oprah is showing the devastation on her show and of course assisted with $$$ and other supplies. Celine Dion sent $1 million. There are so many people with $$$$ and/or position who are doing what they can. WHERE'S KANYE???? Using any forum to bash bash bash!!

Soooo it's just okay to live his VERY expensive lifestyle with his "bling bling"? What has he been doing for the poor lately? Responding to disasters only isn't really caring about poor people, now is it? I know a lot of people who donate all the time/money they possibly can to help out the poor of America (of all races), but a lot of these "celebrities" think THEY are the high and mighty ones just because they "speak out" against Bush, because I guess that's the cool thing to do. It's really easy to spout out a bunch of crap and blame when your life consists of living in a multi-million dollar home, and your job is being a Hollywood "Star". Because I'm sure that must take up 24/7 of his time, to where he's not able to actually do anything himself for people in need. He is an insult to people who are working their tails off to do anything and everything they can to help the people of New Orleans, and I would say Bush is one of those people who is actually DOING something, not just sitting back and doing nothing.

We don't want to hear it from you anymore, Kanye.

Screenwriter there are rules against using derogatory and racist remarks against minorities or groups of people. I suggest you read the sticky thread that Seth posted a few months ago. You will find yourself on the receiving end of an indefinite ban if you keep it up.

Second, and this goes to everyone else, do not respond to posts like that. I suggest you all read the other sticky thread, the one I posted. This is the newest rule I added.

5. If you see any posts in violation of the above rules, please don't call them on it. Report them. We encourage users to use the Report This Post to a Moderator button if they see a post that is violative of these rules. Most, if not all, moderators don't read every single thread. Using the RTPTOM button is very helpful. Each reported post will be looked at on a case by case basis and if we feel there should be something done about it, we'll deal with it. Quoting and responding to threads or posts that do not comply with the above rules is NOT helpful. It only makes our jobs harder. I realize some people feel compelled to respond to these kinds of posts but please refrain.

If you still feel like you need to say something to that person, PM them. Don't post it here.

Honestly, agreement or disagreement of the comment aside, I think Mr. West picked the perfect venue for his comment - and for a reason that most people alluded to as a reason why he SHOULDN'T have said it where he said it. You see, rarely does an entertainer have a LIVE, BROADCAST TV, AUDIENCE to whom he can say whatever he wants without edit. Rarely would he get the opportunity for such a captive audience. In addition, the PUBLICITY FOR THE COMMENT is such that the comment has been reproduced and retransmitted to the point that, agreement or disagreement aside, people are actually talking about the issues of racism and classism in 21st Century America, which has to be considered a primary goal.

Again, I make no comment about whether I agree with the comment or disagree - I simply think, from a publicity viewpoint, he made the best choice imaginable.

The perfect venue? You have got to be kidding me. This was a telethon for victims of Katrina. The sole purpose of it was to raise money for them. By saying what he said, he probably shoed away precious dollars. There is a time and place for everything. That was not the time for that. The media loves to eat that kind of stuff up. He could've said that anyplace or anytime. He attends awards shows doesn't he? They are live. He could have easily said that at the Grammys or AMA's. It was totally inappropriate to say. Regardless if you agree with him or not.

Calling the President a racist at a nationally televised fundraiser was not only a horrible venue, it was disgusting and untrue BS. He's a race-baiting moron.

The fact that he had such a large audience to spew his garbage doesn't make it right. The guy's a complete loon. Read the first four or five posts on this thread, and you'll see what a barking moonbat, tin-foil hat wearing, conspiracy theorist he is.

Since he had such a huge captive audience, perhaps West should have put forth his other theories that the US created AIDS to wipe out Africa...or Reagan put crack cocaine in black communities to keep them down. Hey agree or not, he had the floor.

West did nobody any good that night. Sure he got publicity, but to what end? There were some good-hearted people gathered there to raise money for the relief effort, and that creep had to vomit out inflammatory and hateful remarks.

Don't think for one second that West brought racism and classism to anyone's attention. All that clown did was ruin an otherwise great event.

THE PERFECT VENUE??? I think not. Let Kanye West PAY OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET for tv air time, just like Michael Jackson did the first time he was accused of child molestation. Michael paid for tv air time. Kanye has the $$$$, why not do that and he can be as frank as tv will allow him to be. When rap artists interrupt gigs like the grammys, or other award shows with their shout outs (btw, other music people do it to), they think they can just do that anywhere. This was abt Katrina victims. Imagine how many people changed the station and refused to give $$$$ because of that stupid idiotic move? Now, don't come down on me and say what kind of people would refuse to give $$$ because of Kanye's remarks. Believe me, there are people who would. Their money is needed, and I would hate to think that the victims are being denied anything because of stupid comments being made in the wrong venue. There is a time and place for everything. Kanye could have done the same thing in a magazine. Man, wrong wrong wrong!!!

Before anyone reads too much into my "perfect venue" comment (Edit: Tooo late....I meant to post this earlier, but I got sidetracked with a pilot review), something needs to be said about the angle at which that comment COMES FROM: I PERSONALLY THINK THAT KANYE WEST WAS WAY, WAY, OUT OF LINE WITH HIS COMMENT, AND SHOULD NOT HAVE SAID IT WHERE HE SAID IT.

HOWEVER, my previous post is a type of devil's advocate thing. When a person wants to get a message out, there is NO better venue to say it, FROM A PUBLICITY STANDPOINT, than live, on National Broadcast Television, on a broadcast without a delay in two time zones - other than a live broadcast in all four time zones. In addition, if you make sure to make your comment as outlandish as possible, you can GUARANTEE your comment will be replayed on television and the internet (and even radio and in newspapers) ad infinitum, which gets your name out there in a way that one can otherwise only DREAM of.

The "Right Place to Say It" is only from a publicity viewpoint. From a personal viewpoint, I think the venue was inappropriate.

Mr. Cranky
09-16-2005, 01:34 PM
Wrong time, wrong place. I don't think the incident did him any good. Most liberals I know think he's an idiot. He may have gotten a lot of publicity, but it's publicity for being an idiot. It's also brought to light his previous lunatic rantings.
