His last album The Definition which came out last year didn't sell well at all. I hope he realizes this is it for him. Nobody wants to hear him rap anymore. He should've quit making albums after The G.O.A.T. album which came out 5 years ago. That's a good album. I can't believe he's been on Def Jam records this long. He's one of the few rappers that have lasted with one record label for a long time. Too Short & Scarface are the only other 2 rappers who have stayed with one record label. LL was on a episode of House tv show recently. His character was a killer who was about to be given the electric chair. I didn't see the episode but i saw him on the commercial for the show. Omar Epps also plays on House. Omar & LL were in In Too Deep movie which LL played a drug lord in. LL's character was somethin else in that movie. He's also supposed to have a new movie coming called Slow Burn with Ray Liotta & Mekhi Phifer.

Queen Latifah is an exception, she has an acting career and spokesperson to add to her resume. She has things to fall back on. Besides, MS. DANA OWENS, just had an album come out that is AWESOME. Not rap at all. Very jazzy, blues, r&b, it is hot.

You do not want to say that around Steve M. Trust me. (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?p=2337099) Let's not get that started again...

Ireneparalegal have you heard of a rapper named Canibus? He had beef with LL about 7 years ago because he made a diss song about LL called 2nd Round Knockout. The song is funny. Canibus said 99% of LL's fans wear high heels LOL. Then he called LL a fa**ot talkin about he makes a living off of dissin rappers LOL.

You know, i seem to recall something abt that, didn't know the name of the rapper, until now of course, just couldn't remember his name. I recall that song. That was friggin' hilarious. For some reason, just couldn't get into LL like some other people. Give me Ice Cube, Snoop, etc. You won't believe this but I am a mother who is 40 yrs old, but I know good rap when I hear it.

I haven't listened to LL in years. I like the old LL, the devastating and clever rhymer. Not this "Mr. Sexy Man" sh--! I for one, have never thought LL was sexy. Call me crazy, but that Ladies Man schtick never did anything for me. And I'm glad to know I am not the only one who thinks his incessant lip licking is annoying.

Felicitylen LL is still making movies & music. He was on a episode of House tv show with Omar Epps last week. He also did a movie this past summer called Mindhunters with Christian Slater. The movie is coming to video this month. I haven't seen it. He had a cd out last year called The Definition. I haven't heard the cd & i don't wanna hear it. I gave up on him after The G.O.A.T. album. I miss the old LL also when he used to have hard rhymes. Now he focuses on making love songs too much & that's why he's lost me as a fan.

Ireneparalegal you like Snoop Dogg? LOL. He sucks. I liked him when his first album Doggystyle came out. Last album i bought by him was The Last Meal which came out 5 years ago. I stopped liking him after that album because he started making pop music & he uses The Neptunes too much to do his beats. I'm not a fan of The Neptunes because Pharrell Williams makes me sick always singin & rappin on the hook of somebody's song he produces. Snoop had Justin Timberlake on his last album & that did it for me LOL. I'm surprised he hasn't collaborated with Britney Spears & Christina Agulierra yet LOL.

I'm surprised LL never became a spokesperson for Chap Stick hahahahahaha. Ireneparalegal have you heard of Warren G? Him & Snoop Dogg started a group back in the day before they became famous called 213. Nate Dogg was also in the group with them. They did a group album last year. I guess it sold pretty well. Warren G has a new album coming out. I don't know why he's still making albums. He hasn't made a good album since his first album Regulate G Funk Era LOL. It's hard for music artists to out do their first couple of albums. I always thought Snoop Dogg was gonna stay hard but he became soft after he left Death Row records. Ice Cube disappointed me too. He fell off after Bootlegs & B Sides album. His War & Peace volume 1 & volume 2 albums are terrible. He's supposed to be workin on a new album but he shouldn't do anymore albums. He should just stick to movies.

Ice Cube is probably focusing too much on movies, which is why his music is faltering. I remember Warren G. I have a 21 year old daughter and when she was a teen she would listen to all kinds of music, which is why I am aware of this stuff. I like alot of diff. kinds of music. As a matter of fact, I have an autographed pic of Xzibit before he became famous. He had just finish his first CD and he was doing promotions. At that time, I was working as a paralegal but I worked part-time at a music store so I could pay for private tuition for my girls. Anyhow, he was there promoting that CD and he is VERY VERY NICE. HE IS SO FUNNY. HE IS VERY MUCH A GENTLEMAN. Let me tell you what happened:
We were playing his CD in the store while he was there of course, he was talking to me about the kind of music i like. we had this conversation going on when this man who was wearing a Navy suit walked in and began looking at the CD's. After five minutes he began complaining abt the music and why were we playing that garbage etc. I was embarrassed because that service man didn't realize that the artist was right in front of me. I told the man, that I am sorry if he didn't like the music, but as a music store, we are obligated to play diff. kinds of music per management directions. Anyhow, he went on and on and on. Xzibit went up to him, shook his hand and said he was sorry he didn't like HIS MUSIC. He told him that not everyone has the same tastes, but we live here in America and he is entitled to his opinion. Xzibit was very cordial and polite. He represents alot of the good that rap should focus on. He was very nice and I love to spread good things abt people.

Well you'll be surprised to know from me that i don't like Xzibit anymore & his music has changed. That's why i don't like him anymore. I like his first 3 albums. I heard his 4th album Man Vs. Machine & it's a terrible album. I was very disappointed because i thought he would never go mainstream. The problem that i have with rappers who start out hardcore is that once they go mainstream, i stop liking them. When i grew up on rap music, rap came from the streets. Record companies were scared to sign rappers when the artform first began because people thought the music was too street & ghetto. Now that it's popular & has become mainstream, the artform has made a lot of money but too many rappers have gone pop that used to be hardcore & i have a problem with that. MTV has even caught onto rap music. Back in the day, MTV wouldn't even play rap videos. Run DMC were the first rappers to be on MTV & i think that's because some of their music had rock & roll in it like Rock Box, King Of Rock, Walk This Way songs. If their music hadn't had rock & roll in it, MTV would've never played their songs.

My problem with rap music nowadays is that the only thing record companies care about is album sales & that's exactly why so many rappers today are making pop songs so their albums will sell. Those type of rappers i call sellouts. I like underground rappers because they make music for the streets & they don't care about album sales. Most underground rappers are on independent labels. Being on a independent record label is the best way to go.

So far, she's mostly played the same character - an Jersey Girl with a big mouthful of attitude. I've also heard cuts from The Dana Owens Album. I'm hoping to God Kid Rock doesn't record something similar - an album of Skynyrd tunes - called The Robert Ritchie Album!
And I don't care what Her Majesty says - she's gotta lose weight! Obesity is a very big problem in this country!
Oh yeah, James Todd Smith. Well, LL Cool J had his own sitcom career, I understand he was kind of Likable on "In the House," so why can't he do that?

You know Isiah, I have that feeling abt your thoughts too. I feel like that as well. Good description. You said it better than I could have.
Also, I feel exactly the same except in reverse: When pop people start going Rap or adding rap singers, etc. to their music so they can appeal to a larger audience. I feel like they think it's so easy to sell a cd to a person who likes rap by just adding rapper(s) to the mix or they do rap themselves!!!!!! OMG. I used to love Mariah Carey, but man, she just went from pop to rap/pop. I don't understand why everyone thinks all they have to do is throw in rap and sing "ooohhh lalalalalala, oooooo, lalalallalalalalalal" as front vocals and background vocals. Man, I don't hear the words to songs anymore!!!! Whooo, got that off my chest!!!!

very true, I feel the same way. I hated it when Mariah and J. Lo ditched pop to cater to the hip hop market. It's cool if they want to appeal to the audience, but they shouldn't forget their original audience. Gwen has some hip hop inspired tracks on her cd, but it's not to the extent that No Doubt fans, either the more alternative or the latter pop stuff, would lose interest in her for "selling out".

Well, I won't even talk abt J.HO, she doesn't compare to Mariah or any other top singer. Don't ask. (okay, she has no talent, it's all those recording studio tricks that make her sound "good") Anyway, Mariah and all the others really should get back to what people liked abt them to begin with. Gwen is a good example of someone who instills the rap in her music without going overboard. I like her music. Each track is different and each one can appeal to a wide audience. Even my 3 yr. old son likes her songs. I totally agree with you Buffy!

Seriously, I know LL Cool J can act. Maybe he's not in the class of Will Smith - who is? - but he can act a bit.
Look, a lot of rappers are going to be forgotten in middle age, because hip-hop is a young person's medium and the idea of rappers in their forites and beyond is lamentable as it is laughable. LL Cool J has an advantage most hip-hop performers don't. For one thing, he's likeable, even to those of us who don't like rap. Also, he's an earnest entertainer, as his perfromance at Bill Clinton's 1993 inaugural proved. So I'm sure he'll be able to do. . . something.
I don't know exactly what, of course. Another sitcom, maybe?

LL Cool J can go under a rock. His "lovey dovey" music is nowhere where he used to be. He better hope he has enough $$$$ to make it through his old age. Ice Cube and Ice Tea, those are damn good actors. Ice Tea in that Law and Order spin0ff and Ice Cube, he can play a role that makes me laugh. He also does dramatics very well.

I agree that LL has appeal to non-hip hop fans. I admittedly enjoy some of his work. However, hip hop's not that old of an artform, 25 years. You won't know if older rappers can work or not unless they get up there in age. People felt the same way about rock becuase it was a "young persons artform". Honestly, I'm sure if you went back in time to 1970 and told a cynic who predicted rock would go away that in 2005, new releases by the likes of The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney would still be big deals, I'm sure you would've been laughed at for thinking something so preposterous because "nobody would wanna listen to a 60 year old rocker, would they?". You never know, maybe the same thing will happen with rap.

Good Answer!!!! Right on Buffy. The Rolling Stones performing at their age??? Who would've thought?? Yeah, if you had told me in the 70's they'd still be performing in 2005, I would have told you "Yeah Right". I am picky abt the rap I hear/listen to, but everyone needs to back off of rap as if it's "just a fad" or something to that effect. How can anyone with no caliber even say who will be around, who won't be and how silly they are going to look. Look at Tina Turner. That lady is still rockin' on. I would pay big $$$ to see her. Even Tina once said on an interview that she never would have thought abt even performing beyond 50 years old.

I saw Tina on her farewell tour a few years ago, and at the age of 60, she still had the ability to put on the best concert performance I've ever seen. I've seen people like Janet and Cher before, and while I enjoyed them, everything was so scripted, when I left Tina's concert, I really had the "now THAT was a concert" feeling

she performed for over 2 hours straight and there was only one intermission and during then, the backup singers performed a song (the girl from ER was her lead backup during the leg of the tour I saw her on), whereas when I saw Cher, she performed for 75-80 mins max and spent most of the time offstage changing dresses and wigs, while the audience was left to watch montages about "how fabulous Cher really is" that probably amounted to more time than she actually spent onstage. I don't think Cher realized that a lot of us would've much rather seen her have maybe one costume change and wig and just give us more music, which was why we went to see her. Cyndi Lauper blew Cher off the stage when she opened up for her IMO.

that girl from ER, isn't it that lady that appeared on the Oprah show when Oprah had "Wildest Dreams" for celebrities? She had this celebrity lady come on the show and they surprised her with her dream of being one of Tina's back-up singers. She then got to sing back-up while Tina performed. I'm sorry, I don't watch ER, though I know of it, don't really know the actors.

you're thinking of Felicity Huffman from Desperate Housewives. Gloria Reuben was on ER back in the mid/late 90's and appeared in some other stuff, but she walked away from the role on ER because performing with Tina was a once in a lifetime dream come true for her, so she toured with her for the first leg of the 24/7 tour and then went back to her dayjob.

Yes, oh yeah, right. I remember that. okay. How damn lucky she was to have gotten that. I am sure without a doubt that Tina's shows are THE BEST. Cher, I had seen that concert tour on tv and I was tired of seeing the montage of Cher. I like Cher, but that was toooooo much. The endless wardrobe changes, please. I know Cher is known for her wild costumes etc. but it's her music that she was there for and that's what she should have focused on. Awwwww Tina, imagine, only one intermission, in HIGH HEELS!!!!!!! Damn!!!! You Go Tina!!!!!
