could use some help with some dvd's i recieved

hi. if anyone can give me a hand i would really appreciate it. up until now, all i have used is dvd decrypter and dvd shrink. i came across a couple discs in a trade that after it got about 90% through the burn, it stopped going, i assume they are just not great discs. after reading some responses on other websites, none of which were to me, i thought i would try clonedvd. the only problem is, i don't know what i'm doing wrong, but i can't get it to copy from the disc to the hard drive. every time i try it with clonedvd, it gets 4% through and tells me to insert a blank disc. again, i have no idea how to use this or what i'm doing wrong, i just want to be able to burn these discs

The problem with using clonedvd is that you will pass on the errors to another trader. It is best to get replacements for the bad discs. Please let me know if you are having problems with any of the discs I sent to you and I'll replace them immediately.

Usually if nothing else works as a last resort I use smart ripper and rip the VOB's then re-author the disk.
