Ok, since there's no new eps of Unsolved mysteries.. If some new information or breaking news pops up on a case that's recent & say it happens now. We'll still get a new update somehow wouldn't we?

But not through Lifetime?

I don't think Lifetime has done a real update for at least four years. Of course I'm guessing

Randolph Dial was captured several months ago and the segment was never updated. I saw the episode in June and the end of the segment still claimed Dial and Bobbie Parker were missing. I don't know why Lifetime never bothered to update some of the segments.

I honestly think they don't update anything anymore there may have been a time where they tried, but alas no more.

That really sucks! :( I mean, if they air Unsolved Mysteries, I think they should have to tell us about any possible updates! :(

Didn't someone (Sheilla Kimmel, Lisa Kimmel's mom, perhaps) ask Lifetime directly about updates and their response was that they didn't have a "legal" obligation to do it?

Well I know I've seen the Lil Miss episode without an update so it's true, Lifetime doesn't care!

The beauty of reruns (from the network's standpoint) is that they get the advertising dollars without doing any of the work. I'm surprised that Lifetime EVER bothered to update cases. However, I think it's pretty clear that nobody's manning the sails anymore. There did seem to be a response a while back when a bunch of posters email-bombed Lifetime with requests for old episodes. I wouldn't expect much more than that.

Something for nothing and your kicks for free. I'm glad we don't have a new version of UM, I can only imagine what they would do with a 21st century UM show. For example, a private detective reality show.

The other night I was watching a video of last week's episodes, and I noticed the Jim Davis case had an update detailing the arrest of his wife, Astarte. She was captured after a tip was phoned in by a Lifetime viewer. The update was narrated by a female, so I can only assume this update was added after Stack's death. As another poster pointed out, there was also an update to the Lisa Marie Kimmel (Lil' Miss) case recently. So, I suppose they have not totally abandoned the idea of giving us an occasional heads up when a case has been solved.
Unfortunately, I think UM is very much on the back burner at this point. It has been quite some time since Lifetime has brought us a new episode. I'm surprised it has been on the network for so long, and I really hope they don't decide to pull the plug any time soon, especially since they have been showing some gems from the third and fourth seasons recently.

True True...but the thing is as many have pointed out "Lifetime" has sunk too much $$$ into the production of the "new" episodes to throw all that money away by never showing the program. I think as long as "UM" retains it's core audiance (including most of the people on this board) Lifetime will keep renewing the contract. In the case of Lisa Marie Kimmell, her mother I believe contacted UM and asked them to update the case or cease showing it. They responded after awhile by saying although they had no legal obligation to update it (and this obviously pertains to ALL cases) they felt they had a moral obligation to update it. If anyone is wondering "Lifetime" doesn't update the cases obviously but Cosgrove and co. do so any updates have to go through them - it's not something "Lifetime" as a network can do on their own.
I think in most cases if Cosgrove and Co. are made aware by parties participating in the original cases that there have been significant updates they will update the cases. However, I can think of several cases where there have been updates posted on this board to cases and no update has been shown on "Lifetime" broadcasts.
Later.

Those updates were made in 2003. They haven't made any recent updates.
