I recall seeing an episode of McHale's Navy where the crew was around a campfire listening to someone sing a country music song - it had as it's refrain "lay your pistols down, boy." Can anyone tell me the name of the song and also the name of the guest star who was singing it?

The name of the song was:
"Pistol Packin' Mamma" I believe the original version was made famous by Gene Autry, the singing cowboy.

In the series, the charater singing the song is Harley Hatfield [not sure who the actor is playing the part]. He's entertaining, after being captured, the Japanize Army before miraculously being rescued by McHale and the boys.

If I get the artor's name, I'll post.

Harley Hatfield was played by Jesse Pearson (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Pearson,+Jesse).
