I didnt like the way they showed something in 1 episode, and never mentioned it again
Example
Theo's friend who had cancer.

Some of the clothes they wore in Cosby Show. They were just ugly. For instance, take a look at Pam in the Cosby Show, and then look at her in Living Single. They had all of them dressed down i thought.

There wasn't any serious episodes.
I didnt count that troubled father episode, because that didn't happen to the family.
And that MLK speech on TV episode was just a serious MOMENT.

This family just seemed a little bit too happy for me.It seems like everyone always have a smile or make a joke about something... even at a serious moment & I could never buy Cliff & Claire when they were mad at their children! For instance, the episode Vanessa got drunk... who would think, oh when Vanessa wakes up in the morning, we're going to trick her into drinking but it's actually tea inside. Then they all laugh & smile, & hug at the end like what Vanessa did was no big deal..

The male bashing that was done. They portrayed the men on the show as if they were idiots and/or chauvanstic.

I hated the way Vanessa always got in trouble when Rudy was younger and would start the fight with Vanessa and they never really told Rudy anything.
The way Clair was portrayed to be this perfect hard working lawyer, always in control of everything without making a mistake.
It really irked my nerves that they ruined a show with new characters and refrained from showing the original cast as much in order to make the new characters pivotal to the show.
I hated the way a lot of the male characters were sexist - Elvin, Kenny, we didnt see Kennys brother but he was talked about a lot, Denises boyfriend who wore 2 different colored socks etc...
I hated they didnt explain where cockroach went since he was Theos main friend for years

I hated that God Awful episode where they go to Hillman college and Clare sings at some ceremony - there nothing funny in that entire episode, just dull dull dull.

#1 The Hillman ep....I didnt turn on the TV to see a 30 min infomercial for the Negro College fund ( No matter how noble a cause that may be )
#2 The reason i stopped watching Cos and never will again: When Cos strongarmed NBC into shoving Family Ties into the "Suicide time-slot" on Sunday nights so he could give the time-slot to his precious TV daughter Lisa Bonet for her mediocre college show ...ohhh what was it called???? ( It blew, but after she was fired from the show it did pretty well...Who knows why )

Bill Cosby expected every child on the show to be perfect. That's what you're supposed to do, but he just went overboard.

THE SHOW ANGERED ME WAS WHEN THE SHOW FELT IT NEEDED CUTE AND SMALL CHILDREN THROUGHOUT IT'S RUN. I liked RUDY and she was part of the show. BUT WAS IT NECESSARY TO INTRODUCE PETER, KENNY. NELSON AND WINNIE Was ALSO ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO KEEP THE SMALL CHILDREN IN THE PICTURE; OLIVIA, NOW DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON HER, SHE WAS TOTALLY NOT NEEDED

Elvin. Or Alvin or whatever his name was. Why a sophisticated, attractive young woman like Sondra would see in this geeky, annoying guy is beyond me. It's not that I'm against nerdy characters - but this guy just irritated me.
Unnecessary add-on characters like Olivia and Pam. A sure sign that a show is getting on in years is when they look at a character like Rudy and say "Oh my god, she's 10! We need a new cute kid!!" I realize she was Denise's stepdaughter, but she was really there to do those cutesy scenes with Cliff.
And Pam??? Was this character supposed to fill the void created by Denise's departure?? By the time she surfaced on the show, I wasn't watching it all that much, but when I did, I wonder "Who is this character and why is she here?"

Olivia! What's with the "clown suits" they'd put her in - were those supposed to be cute? Made her look like some kind of munchkin.
I sure didn't think Cliff was cheap. Think about it. Even though they had a great income, he had five kids to put through college/university, then four daughters to pay for their weddings - the kids all wore the latest designer clothes, had their hair styled and wanted for nothing! I think all things considered, he and Claire were extremely generous. Those kids had it good.

Anyhoo. Nothing on the show made me mad, but they could have done without Pam, Olivia, and Alvin.

Let me get this straight: Theo finds a joint in his book and tells his parents? Not that it wasn't the honest thing to do, but c'mon. That was little too much. And he even was going to fight the dude to come over and explain it to Cliff. And Cliff telling the young man that he had a problem.
Here is the problem. Theo should've just threw the J away (or smoked it one, LOL). Any sensble kid with sense would've done that. He made such a big issue out of it. I should've been Theo. I would've done exactly what Rollo would do. :D

Theo didnt find it, Clair accidentally knocked his geometry book off the table and found the joint.
If Theo was such a slacker in High School and getting low grades, how did he get into NYU?

Not only that, but Olivia's mother wasn't some whacked out crackhead, she could have had physical custody of her child. How could a man in the Navy have custody of his child and practically never be with the mother? Stupid.

I definitely hated most of the episodes from Season 6 onward!
Talkabout jumping the shark!
One is blatantly obvious and that my friends is that little munchkin, known as Olivia.
Another was that it seems like from S6 onward, they had waaaaaaay too many grandfathers coming to the house. It was like Cliff and Cliare were letting just about anyone live in their house. I betcha they probably wouldn't even know that one of those grandfathers could be a rapist or something.
I also hated the presence of Martin and Elvin. Martin's voice grated my teeth through and through. Elvin was an annoying nerd that can get on my nerves sometimes. How do Sondra and Denise put up w/ those two?

There was an episode of The Simpsons where jazzman "Bleeding Gums" Murphy is in the hospital reminiscing how his last job had been an appearance on The Cosby Show. They go to a mock-flashback sequence where Cliff introduces "Bleeding Gums" as their Grandpa. Rudy replies that they already have two grandfathers. Cliff says "yeah, but this one's a jazz musician." Rudy replies that so were the other two. Classic Simpsons.

What really drove me nuts is that EVERYONE in their family either did something incredible historically or academically or were freaking crazy talented. The aunt was a school teacher and taught this white kid during slavery, the grandpa was a jazz musician...everyone! And then all of the teachers...almost EVERY SINGLE ONE...even the councillor that Theo went to for dyslexia - was black! I understand that they wanted to portray blacks as being successful but there were lots of other races and cultures that were successful as well!

AMEN AMEN AMEN! What a thread. All the things I hated about the Cosby show in one place! Claire who was never wrong, hated that. The annoying grandparents, annoying parenting, annoying male characters who were all buffoons and the fact that every professional seen on the show was black! The only thing that I hated that was not mentioned was almost every white person seen was a total idiot! The only exception that comes to mind was the dentist, but he didn't seem all there. Yes, there were idiotic blacks on the show too, but most every white person seen was a clod. Cosby was not the only black-casted show to do this, but it still made me hate that part of the show.

I don't mind that they showed the parents being succesful in their careers, but they don't show them BEING AT WORK THAT MUCH. How many doctors get the free time he did? They should have had him getting paged here and there a hell of alot of times. Especially doctors who deliver babies, those doctors get called at all hours of the day.
Claire, was always so damn perfect, yet never showed stressed from her job, or showed her working that much. Being a paralegal, I have seen many attorneys and the hours of work they do, believe me, they are far from perfect. And how the hell did they even get to raise five kids with their respective careers? How could Claire have gone to law school, studied, had baby after baby? I assumed they both must have gone to school at the same time. They couldn't have put off having children very long after marriage when you consider Sondra's age and Claire/Cliff's age. The kids were not that far apart from each other either.

They did show Claire stress in one episode, that's when Cliff sent her off into the woods for a relaxing weekend. But when she got there it was a hell hole cabin.
I think Claire was suppose to have been in her mid 40's along with Cliff and Sondra was suppose to be in her 20's Denise in her late teens with Theo 2 yrs behinds.
The one thing that bothered me is that they hardly showed Claire's side of he family, you only saw her father like 3 or 4 times you saw her sister once I think and her mother a hand full of times. They should have had a lot more relatives come to visit. And they really didn't have any big problems, everyone has some kinda family problem every now and again.

It would have been nice to see Cliff and Claire actually have an argument, I mean a real argument. Not one of those cheesy fights they would have when they would laugh, smile and joke around. I would have liked to see Cliff sleep on the couch, or even Claire. Something like that.
Also, recall that episode when Cliff found out the family was trying to trick him and they wanted to get even if him. They used Sondra's engagement as a ploy to get back at him. I call this the "Gotcha" episode. Well, when the family is at the dinner table and Cliff, of course, knows the family is trying to trick him, he begins to rant and rave at which point Claire tries to interrupt him and Cliff then yells at Claire "You Shut Up!!". Claire just looks at him and looks like she wants to laugh. Remember, she doesn't know he is on to them, therefore, why didn't she stand up to him and scream at him for telling her to shut up??? I wouldn't take that from any man.

I didn't like that by the last 2 seasons they didn't feature all of the regulars in the episodes anymore but would still feel obligated to stick Olivia in a show. I just saw a season 7 show with John Ritter and his wife in it. The only regulars in it were Cliff and Olivia!

Your post is idiotic and not very well thoughtout. COSBY was a black sitcom. It's point was to show prominent African American's that are just AS successful if not MORE successful than whites.---because this was not going done on TV. They did have white characters on the show, and Latina characters as well. And you complain that there wasn't enough....How dare you?
