Amanda Bearse was born in Winter Park, FLA on August 9th 1958.

Amanda was introduced to acting through her school and community theatre programs. She moved to New York, where she studied acting with Sanford Meisner. This is where Amanda's acting career started. Amanda also studied Directing at the American Film Institute and USC in Lost Angeles.

In October 1993, on National Coming Out Day, Amanda held a press conference where she came out publicly as a Lesbian. Amanda actively supports such groups as The Victory Fund, PAWS/LA, the Human Association and the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Community Service Center, where she served as a member of the Board of Directors.

Amanda lives in Los Angeles with her daughter Zoe and her partner.
