I just went to the website- http://www.hauntinggrounds.org and discovered that this will be the last year the host will be doing the yard haunt. :( An annual event since 1973.

I am still in shock (but the host did tell me last year that he's about ready to stop doing it). There are quite a few other houses with Halloween yard shows, but this one is by far the best.

I plan to suggest to the host to cut back on the props... just display the major ones, that way it will be easier to set up. If that doesn't work, I think I'll ask the host if I can purchase the "Wandering Spirit" prop. (The Wandering Spirit is shown on the "images" page.)

Any consolations may be posted here.
:( :crying: :crying: :crying: :faint:

That is so lame. Everyone is out to remove a time-honored tradition as Halloween festivities. Someone at least needs to replace it, because it sounds like so much fun. Halloween is like Easter in the fall. :D Tons of candy, and people dressing up spooky (intentionally, not like those scary Easter church bonnets!!  ).

I really can't blame the host for calling it quits. He's been doing it for a long time and it is a lot of work to set up. I've watched him... it takes weeks to set up the yard display with 40-something speakers, dozens of lights, recordings & projections, props, etc.

Maybe he'll change his mind. Last year's show was probably the busiest ever. It was after midnight and there were still about 20 or 30 people going through his yard.
