Ok, so I stink at naming my writings, LOL! Anyway please read and give me you honest opinions.
Janet Wood-Dawson is staring out the window of her hospital room. She is trying to remember a time before her life went so horribly wrong. It had been so bad, for so long that she can hardly remember a time when she was happy. It all started 7 years ago when she married Phillip Dawson. That is when her living nightmare began. That is when all the laughter and fun went out of her life.
Janet and Phillip left for their honeymoon the day after their wedding. They spent 10 days in the Caribbean islands. Everything was wonderful. They laughed and had a great time. Janet would later remember that as the last truly happy moment of her life. It was when they returned from the trip that her nightmare began.
"Phillip, let's go eat at Jack's Bistro tonight. It has been so long since I have seen him. I want to catch up on old times."
"Now Janet, we are married now. How would it look if you are talking to other men? Besides, Jack is involved with Vicky now."
"I know, but Jack is still my best friend, other than Terri of course."
"That's another thing. I don't think it is a good idea if you talk to Terri. I mean she is kind of.."
"What do you mean Phillip? You had no problems with us being friends before we were married. What is it with you anyway?"
"Janet, you are my wife now and have to learn your place. I expect you to act a certain way and keep certain friends, and well, Terri and Jack are not the type of friends we keep."
With that Phillip left the room. Janet was left staring at him with a shocked expression on her face. She couldn't believe the man that Phillip had become. How dare he tell her who she could and couldn't have for friends? If he wanted that then maybe this wasn't such a good idea. With that Janet walked into the kitchen and stood watching the cook prepare dinner. It would probably be something bland and tasteless again.
Unknown to Phillip, Janet continued to see and talk to Jack. Usually when he was at work and Janet could slip away for a few minutes. The time they had together was precious and they laughed and talked about the old times. Jack could see sadness in Janet's eyes though. It never quite went away, even when she was laughing at a joke he told.
Eventually Phillip found out about her secret trips to see Jack. He accused her of having an affair with Jack. She started laughing at that one. That is the first time that he hit her. Janet was so shocked that she didn't know what to do. She tried to walk away from him, but that just made him angrier. He then proceeded to punch her so hard that she swore she saw stars. That was the first of many such beatings that he gave her during the next 6½ years, each one got worse than the one before. Sometimes, Janet felt like giving up. She tried to walk away many times, but Phillip talked her into returning. She eventually lost touch with Terri and only saw Jack a few times a year. That was her biggest regret. She loved Jack and sometimes wished that she could tell him what was happening to her, but she was afraid of what Phillip would do if he found out.
Eventually they moved far away from Santa Monica. Janet lost touch with Jack and her lifeline away from Phillip was gone. So for the next 6 ½ years she lived like a little mouse. She became afraid to do anything without Phillip's approval. That was the state she was in when she discovered one morning that she was pregnant. She had tried so very carefully to prevent that from happening. It was bad enough that she had to live thru this nightmare that her life had become but, she didn't want to bring a child into their lives. It wasn't fair to either of them. The baby or her, she was totally terrified of what Phillip would do to a child. But there is little you can do when a man forces himself on you. It was shortly after that latest brutal beating that Janet discovered she was pregnant. Her arms were bruised and she had bruises all over her legs. One eye was swollen shut and he had cut her lip open. Janet barely looked like herself. After Phillip left for work one morning Janet decided that she'd had enough. She wasn't going to bring a baby into this world only to have Phillip abuse the child. She had to leave him. Even if it meant hiding from everyone she ever knew. She would do it. She had to, for the child she carried under her heart.
On her way out the door we hear the song “Unsaveable” by Faith Hill.
Love so cruel
Yeah that's all that I got from you
Tell me what in the world I do
But leave
After all that you've done to me
Now it's so easy to say I'm over you
'Cause baby I cried a little too hard
A little too long
What I thought was right
Was way too wrong
And too far gone
I can't bring back the love
There just ain't enough
Available,impossible,unsaveable
Here you come
Tryin' to make up for what you've done
It's too late to say you're sorry now
Now it's your turn
You can't cross that bridge you burned
You're on your own when will you learn
'Cause baby I cried a little too hard
A little too long
What I thought was right
Was way too wrong
And too far gone
I can't bring back the love
There just ain't enough
Available,impossible,unsaveable
Love
There's someone out there for me
Who thinks I'm beautiful
I've got to go
'Cause baby I cried a little too hard
A little too long
What I thought was right
Was way too wrong
And too far gone
I can't bring back the love
There just ain't enough
Available,impossible,unsaveable
Feedback is always welcome. Should I continue this story?

Jack smiled as he looked around the restaurant. He was very proud of the success that he had made of the place. He went from cooking himself to being able to hire a full time chef and still cook most of the meals himself. The restaurant was packed every night of the week and reservations were made weeks in advance. Yes, he was very proud of himself.
The only regret that he had is that Vicky had left him. She said she needed more out of life than he could give her. So he went from girl to girl. Never wanting to get serious about anyone, it was just safer that way. He often thought about Janet. He would wonder if she was happy. He hoped she was happy. After Phillip found out about them meeting in secret Janet told him it was better that they talk on the phone. About six months later the calls stopped and he found out that she had moved away. The last place she moved was Chicago. Jack hated to think of Janet in such a cold place. That was one of the reason she had left Indiana. She hated being cold. She loved the warmth and sunshine of California.
His thoughts returned to the restaurant. Terri and her kids were coming for dinner tonight. He always left an extra table open for friends who decided at the last minute to show up. Terri had called that morning and asked if she could bring the kids in. Jack immediately said yes. He loved Terri's kids. The kids are 5, 4 and almost 2. Terri's marriage to their father broke up almost as soon as the youngest was born. They still got along though, for the sake of the kids. Terri and her kids arrived and Jack greeted them. He took the baby from Terri.
"Hey guys. How's it going?"
"Great Uncle Jack!"
"Guess what Uncle Jack? I lost my first tooth today! Mommy says the tooth fairy is gonna bring me money!"
"Hi Uncle Jack."
"Hi Jack, are you sure you are up to my crew tonight? They are full of energy tonight. It seems like the school decided that sugar cookies were a good treat for them today."
Jack laughed and assured Terri that they were fine. He led them to their table and sat the baby in a booster seat.
"So, what would you like to drink? Will it be milk, juice or water?"
All three wanted milk. So Jack went to the kitchen to get the drinks. Terri asked for a glass of white wine. After delivering the drinks Jack took a moment to sit with Terri.
"So, I don't suppose that you have heard anything from Janet lately?"
"No, I haven't heard from her since she moved to Chicago. The phone number that I had for her was changed shortly after she called me the first time."
"Yeah, same here, I just wish I knew that she was ok. I really miss her."
"Me too, we just have to have faith that everything will be ok. She is strong and brave. She will be fine."
Jack heard the bell from the back ringing. He got up to answer it. He walked to the door and opened it. He was stunned to see a battered and bruised Janet on the other side of the door.
"Hi Jack, I hope it is ok that I came here. I had nowhere else to go." With that Janet broke into tears.
Jack reached out to comfort her. When he did she flinched, almost like she was afraid he was going to hit her.
"What is wrong Janet? Who did this to you?"
Thru her tears Janet managed one word "P-P-Phillip."
Jack felt a rage like he had never felt before. How could Phillip treat Janet like this? He knew if he ever saw Phillip again he would have to control the urge to beat the crap out of him.
"Janet you did the right thing by coming here. Hold on, let me get Terri."
"Terri is here?"
"Yes, she and the kids are eating in the dining room. Let me get her."
At the mention of the words kids, Janet started crying even harder. Jack had no idea what to do to calm her down. All he knew was that she was crying like her heart was broke and he needed Terri at the moment.
He walked over to the table where Terri was sitting and whispered into her ear. "Janet just walked in the back door. She really needs you. I will sit with the kids."
Terri looked stunned but quickly got up and walked into the kitchen. She saw Janet standing with her back to her. She quietly walked over to her and placed her hand gently on her back. Janet flinched and turned around quickly. Terri was stunned at the bruises on Janet's face and arms. She wanted to cry for her friend, but she knew that Janet needed her to be strong right now. The thing Janet needed most was a friend to talk to. Terri simply hugged her until Janet's tears let up. They walked up the flight of steps to the tiny room above the restaurant. There they sat and talked.
"Boy, what a sight I am. I must look terrible. I know I feel terrible. I don't even know why I came here. I guess I just felt safe here. I needed somewhere safe to go. I couldn't take anymore of the way my life had become."
"Janet, you did the right thing by coming here. Jack and I both love you so much. We have missed you all these years. How long has he been doing this to you?"
"About 6 ½ years, it started shortly after we got back from our honeymoon."
"God, Janet why didn't you tell us? We would have helped you."
"I was embarrassed and ashamed. I felt like I was somehow to blame."
Terri just held Janet and let her cry some more.
Janet wiped her tears and smiled. "Well, I am here now. I feel better just talking to you. Jack said you were her with the kids. How many kids do you have?"
Terri brightened at the mention of the children. "Three, 2 girls and a boy, they definitely keep me busy."
"I am so happy for you and Jack."
"What? You think Jack and I are married?" Terri started laughing at the thought of her being married to Jack.
"Well, Jack said you were here with the kids."
"Jack always talks about them like that. He thinks of them as his nieces and nephews. He is a big pushover when it comes to them."
Janet smiled and thought about her baby. She needed a safe place to stay for a few days, then, she would disappear. She couldn’t stay here. This is one of the first places that Phillip would look.
“How about we get you something to eat and then I can take you to my house? I would love to talk some more. I need to rescue Jack though. He is good with the kids, but if I don’t rescue him he would let them eat ice cream for dinner. He really is a big softie.”
Terri walked out of the room. Janet laid on the bed. She closed her eyes for a few minutes. She hadn’t slept since leaving Chicago.
Jack stood in the doorway watching Janet sleep. He hated to wake her, but he knew she needed to eat. God, she looked so fragile. Her lip was swollen and her face was bruised. If he ever saw Phillip again he would give him a good beating.
“Janet honey, I brought you some food.”
She awoke with a start and looked frightened. “Thanks. I am a little hungry.”
Jack just smiled and sat on a small chair next to the bed. He watched her eat and wondered what she had been thru the past few years. When she was done eating, she smiled at Jack. She looked so very tired.
“Janet, Terri and the kids will probably be awhile. If you would like to rest I can wake you up when they are done.”
“Thanks Jack. I really would like to rest.” She smiled at him and closed her eyes.
Jack walked out of the room. He hated seeing her like this. It was almost as if the life had been beaten out of her. He didn’t know this Janet. He would do everything he could to get the old Janet back. He smiled as he walked into the dining room. Terri’s kids were making the usual noise and mess, but he loved every minute of it. He hoped some day that he would have children of his own. That was a hopeless wish though. Kids were something he would probably never have the joy of having.

The opening of the door brought Janet back to the present. The nurses at the hospital in the city where Janet escaped to were bringing in her baby. Janet smiled as she looked at the newborn. Janet left Santa Monica about 5 months ago. She had a fight with Jack and she had said some nasty things to him. Things that she didn’t mean, things that she wished she could take back now. Well, it was too late to dwell on it now. She had a baby to think about. She still couldn’t believe she was a mom. Janet let her memories drift back.
Janet had been back in Santa Monica for about 3 weeks. She started feeling sick almost immediately. She knew she wouldn’t be able to hide it from Teri long. After all she was a nurse and would certainly be able to spot the signs. Janet just hoped she could hold off having to tell her for awhile. Jack came over almost every night and was a great friend to her. He brought food over and played with Terri’s kids. Janet loved watching him play with them. They would wrestle and Jack would tickle them. Janet wished that her baby had a dad that was like that. Unfortunately that wasn’t meant to be. She was almost 2 months pregnant and was still getting sick most of the time. Fortunately she had managed to keep Terri and Jack in the dark. She didn’t want them to know about the baby. It would make it that much harder to leave. She knew she had to leave. It was just a matter of time.
Jack couldn’t help but watch Janet. She was smiling but she had a look of sadness in her eyes all the time. It was an ever present look around her. He wanted to do something to take it away. He just wished she would open up to him. He decided that he was going to talk to her about it tonight. She would talk to her while Terri was putting the kids to bed. He wanted to help his friend. If only she would let him in. He asked her to take a walk with her. She nodded and they walked out to the back yard.
“Janet, I want you to know that I am here for you. I will always be here for you. I want to help you. You look so sad.”
“Jack this is something I need to work out for myself, the less you know the better. I can’t take the chance that something…” She stopped not able to give voice to the thoughts that she had. It was too painful to think about. Something happening to Jack, she couldn’t think about that.
Jack’s heart was breaking for his friend. He looked at her and hugged her. They stayed like that for a few minutes. Jack could feel her sobbing. He didn’t know why, but he continued to hold her until the sobs subsided. When she was done he looked at her and said, “When you are ready to talk, I will be here. Just know that.”
Janet smiled. She knew that Jack would be there for her, no matter what.
Janet knew it was just a matter of time before Terri put two and two together and figured out that Janet was pregnant. It happened after she had been back for about 4 weeks. She walked in on Janet getting sick. She waited until Janet came out of the bathroom.
“Janet, are you pregnant?”
Janet sighed, “Yes.”
Terri smiled and asked a question Janet had been dreading answering. “Does Phillip know?”
Janet shook her head “No, he doesn’t and I plan to keep it that way.”
“You know he has been to Jack’s restaurant looking for you?”
Janet had no idea. Jack hadn’t said a word about that. “Why didn’t Jack say anything to me about it?”
“He didn’t want to upset you. He almost punched him the first time he saw him. He had to use a lot of self control to keep from hurting him.”
Janet smiled and imagined Jack defending her. “Terri, I have to leave, if he finds out about the baby…”
“Janet, I have a big house here. The security system is state of the art, please stay with us. You will be safe.”
“Oh, Terri, what if he comes here looking for me? How can I hide from him? I am so afraid of him.”
“Let’s take it one day at a time. Right now, we need to get you to a doctor. You need to take care of yourself.”
Janet smiled and hugged Terri. The two friends were determined to fight against anything that Phillip threw their way.
That fight came much sooner than expected. Phillip followed Terri home one day after she got off work. He confronted her in the driveway of her home.
“Terri, I know that you know where Janet is. It would be easier on you if you told me.”
“Oh, and what are you going to do? Beat me up like you did her. You know Phillip, even if I did know where she was, you would be the last person on earth I would tell. You are scum Phillip Dawson.”
“I see she has managed to fill your head with all kinds of lies. Well, when you see her you tell her that I am watching and that she won’t escape. That I guarantee you.”
“Phillip you are so smug and conceited. I suggest you leave my house, before I have you arrested for trespassing.”
“You wouldn’t dare?”
“Try me.”
“Ok, I will leave now, but I will be back for Janet later. You can’t hide her forever. When I finally get her again she won’t escape. Oh, and I tell her I know that she is having my baby. A baby that I intend to get full custody of, I mean, what court would give custody to a mentally disturbed mother.”
“Phillip you have no idea what you are talking about, and Janet is not the one that is mentally disturbed. No, Phillip you hold that title all by yourself.”
With that Phillip got into his rental car and drove away. Terri felt a chill pass over her body. She needed to go inside and talk to Janet. How was she going to tell her that she just had a visit from the devil himself?

As it turned out it wasn’t necessary for Terri to tell Janet about Phillip. She was watching the whole exchange take place for the upstairs bedroom where she was staying. When Terri came into the house she found that Janet was quickly throwing what few belongings she had into a small suitcase.
“Terri, I saw the whole thing. I have to get out of here. If he finds out about the baby…”
“Janet, I don’t know how he found out, but he knows.”
“He knows? Oh my God! What am I going to do? I have to get out of here now.”
The girls didn’t hear Jack come into the house.
“Janet, hold on. Where are you going to go? You are almost 3 and a half months pregnant. You need to take it easy.”
“Terri, I can’t let Phillip get me. I have to leave now. I should have left sooner. I just didn’t feel strong enough. Terri, thank you for your help, tell Jack..”
“Tell me what? That you were going to leave town without saying goodbye. Janet let me help you.”
“Jack, this really isn’t any of your business. I have to do this for my baby.” Janet’s hand rested on her gently rounding tummy. This was not lost on Jack. He looked at her with something that resembled love.
“Janet, let’s go outside and talk. Just give me 5 minutes. If you still want to leave, then I will help you.”
“Ok Jack, 5 minutes is all I can promise.”
They walked outside to Terri’s backyard. Jack spoke first.
“Janet, I have come to realize something in the few weeks that you have been back here. I don’t know how you feel about me, but, Janet I am in love with you.”
“Jack, you are just saying that to make me stay. I’m sure if you really thought about it you would see that what you feel for me is pity…”
“How can you say that Janet, don’t you know that I loved you before you became involved with Phillip? I was ready to tell you about my feelings when you announced that you were marrying him. I just wish now that I would have said something sooner.”
With that Janet started crying. For what was and what could have been. Would she have married Phillip if Jack had told her his feelings? Maybe, she couldn’t be sure though. The only thing is that she felt angry now. Could all of the pain she was feeling now have been avoided if she had realized that she was in love with Jack for all these years? Chances are they would probably never know.
“Jack, you are just saying these things to get me to stay. You never loved me. I am not what you look for in a girl. I am not blonde haired and blue eyed and I don't have a big chest. I am pregnant with a baby by a man I have come to hate. You say you love me Jack, but I know better. You could never love me now. I need to go Jack. Please don’t follow me.” Needing to say something to him to make sure he didn’t follow she added “I hate you almost as much as I hate Phillip.” Knowing that she didn’t mean the words she spoke caused her to cry a river of tears. Almost as much as the shocked look on Jack’s face. She hated saying the words, because they were so untrue. But Janet couldn’t take the chance of Jack being hurt by Phillip. She came to the realization that she loved Jack, with all her heart. But she had to protect him also. The last thing she saw as she was walking inside was a single tear rolling down Jack’s face.

This is kind of a short chapter.
As Janet walked inside Terri's house she felt as though her heart was breaking. She couldn't get the image of Jack out of her mind. He had been so kind to her and he was only trying to help. She should apologize to him. She owed him that much. After all, she did love him. Maybe if this was another time and they were both free, she would have let herself fall in love with him freely and completely. It just wasn't meant to be though. She still owed him a huge apology. She started to walk back outside when she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. She saw Phillip sneaking over the fence. Jack didn't see him however. Janet had to make the hardest decision of her life. Did she warn Jack that he was there, or turn the other way? She decided to warn Jack. She flung open the sliding glass door and yelled to Jack.
"Watch out Jack!! Phillip is coming over the fence."
When Phillip heard the warning he looked at Janet with a look of pure hatred. If looks could kill, well she would be a goner. Terri saw this happening and called the police. Jack stood his ground and when Phillip started towards Janet he went after him.
"Hey Phillip, why don't you pick on someone your own size, or are you scared that I might whip your sorry butt?"
Phillip took a swing at Jack. Jack ducked and punched Phillip in the stomach. He wanted to do much more. However, seeing that Janet was watching him he held him on the ground. He said to her "I love you Janet. Go and be safe. I will always think of you."
That had Janet in tears and Phillip was cursing up a storm. The police finally arrived and arrested Phillip for trespassing. Before they took him away he yelled at Janet "When I get out I will find you and kill you. I promise you that."
"Sir, I must remind you that you just said that in the presence of two police officers. That is enough to warrant a restraining order. Mrs. Dawson I recommend that you take one out on this man. I believe he is a danger to you." With that they drove away.
Janet was shaking from head to toe. She looked at Jack and smiled a sad faint smile. "I have to go now."
"I know. I still love you. Be safe honey."
With that Janet walked out of Jack's life once again. Would this be the last time he saw her? He felt so helpless that he wanted to cry. He still hurt from the words that she spoke and he wanted to follow her. To make sure she was safe. Although he knew if he did she would think he didn’t trust her. It was best to just wait. He would let her come to him. As much as it killed him, he had to trust that she would make the decision that was in her heart.
Janet’s heart was just as conflicted. She wanted to run back to Jack, but she knew that she needed to find a new start. Was her life in Santa Monica over? Did that mean that her friendship with Terri was over? That her love for Jack would never be realized?
As always, feedback is most welcome and appreciated.

As she started the car down the street she heard a song on the radio that seemed to fit and made her sadder with every word sung. It was “Never Gone” by the Backstreet Boys.
The things we did
The things we said
Keep coming back to me and make me smile again
You showed me how, to face the truth
Everything that’s good in me I owe to you
Though the distance that’s between us
now may seem to be to far
It will never separate us deep inside I know you are
Never Gone, never far in my heart is where you are
Always close, everyday, every step along the way
Even though for now we've got to say goodbye
I know you will be forever in my life (Yeah)
Never gone (no no no no no)
I walk alone, these empty streets
There is not a second you're not here with me
The love you gave, the grace you've shown
Will always give me strength and be my corner stone
So how you found a way to see the best I have in me
As long as time goes on, I swear to you that you will be
Never Gone, never far in my heart is where you are
Always close, everyday, every step along the way
Even though for now we've got to say goodbye
I know you will be forever in my life (Yeah)
Never gone (no no no no no)
If there’s one thing I believe
I believe
I will see you somewhere down the road again
Chorus 2x
Janet drove for what felt like hours. But in reality it was only about 30 minutes. She was totally exhausted from the day’s events. She needed a good sleep. She needed something to eat. Most of all she needed to think. She had a lot of decisions to make. She also needed to find a job. Something that would fill her days before the baby came. She needed to try and mend her broken heart. She decided that she would file for divorce. She wanted nothing from Phillip except her freedom and freedom for the baby that she carried. She had been held captive for far too long. Once she was free she could start to live again. Maybe she could even learn to love again. After she found a small apartment for rent she laid down to sleep. She fell into a deep sleep. A sleep full of dreams, she dreamed that she and Jack had married instead of Phillip. She dreamt that is was Jack’s baby she was carrying. The dream was so real and vivid. When she awoke she realized that she was crying. Why couldn’t that dream have been real? How she wished that it was true. For now she would have to concentrate on this baby and making a new start in their lives.
Janet had been living on her own for almost 3 months. She had managed to file for divorce from Phillip. He had willingly signed the divorce papers. He had even surprised her by agreeing to pay child support. He wanted no visitation rights. It was as though he wanted her and the baby out of their lives for good. Janet had even called and talked to Terri a few times. She sounded happy for Janet. She told that Jack was still moping around all the time. She asked Janet to call Jack. Janet was still afraid that Jack was mad for the terrible things she said. Plus, at almost 6 ½ months pregnant she didn’t feel very attractive. Then Janet got the shock of her life. A delivery man arrived at her door one afternoon.
“I have a package delivery for Mrs. Wood Dawson.”
“That’s me.”
“If you will just sign here I will bring the packages in.”
“Packages?”
“Yes I have about 15 packages for you.”
Janet was confused, who would be sending her something? Janet was curious to find out. After he brought the packages in he handed her a small package that seemed to contain a letter. She opened it quickly. Inside she found a letter. It brought tears to her eyes.
Dearest Janet,
I know that you didn’t want me to follow you. I have respected that. That doesn’t mean that I don’t love you. It is because I love you that I haven’t followed you. I would give anything for you to come back to me. Janet, I love you so much. I hope you realize that. I will always be there for you and your baby. I would love to help you raise him or her. I would love that baby as if it were my own. The baby is a part of you. More for me to love. I do love you Janet. More than I ever thought possible. Nothing will ever change how I feel about you. I have bought a few things for the baby. I hope that eventually we will move them into a home that we share together. Just remember I will always be here for you. If you ever need anything, at anytime I am only a phone call away. I love you with all my heart.
All my love always,
Jack
Jack had written his phone # at the bottom. Janet swore she could smell his aftershave on the note. Probably just wishful thinking. Inside the many packages were all kinds of baby things. From a changing table to a crib. However, the most touching thing was a heart shaped locket. When Janet opened it she saw a picture of her and Jack. It was obviously taken a long time ago. It was inscribed with a simple inscription. “Always in my heart, Love Always, Jack.”
Of all the things that one locket touched her heart more than anything else. She needed to call Terri. She had to have known about these. After all Terri was the only one that knew her address. She would call her after her nap. Sleep was what she needed now.

This is a short chapter....
Jack hadn’t been sure about sending the baby things. He thought it was a bit much. Terri assured him that it was a wonderful thing to do. So along with Terri, he went to the local baby store. Once he started buying things he couldn’t stop. Terri would later say he was like an expectant dad shopping for his own baby. In a way he felt like he was. There was one purchase that Terri had no idea about. Jack had bought it earlier and arranged to have it shipped with the others. The locket was his secret. Terri had no idea about it. So when Janet called Terri later that day, she knew all about the presents.
“Terri, i just got a delivery. Baby things. They are from Jack. Do you know anything about it?”
“Uh, baby things? What kind of baby things?”
“Come on Terri, I know that you know about them. Who else could have known my address?”
“Ok, I do know about them. In fact, I helped him pick them out. You should have seen him at the baby store. He was like a little kid in a candy store. He asked for the best of everything. He wanted it shipped right away. Janet, I have never seen a man as excited about picking out baby furniture. He was walking on air. Janet, if he doesn’t love you then I don’t know who does. Please tell me you are going to call him?”
“Ok, I guess I do need to call him.”
Terri did a little dance on the other end of the phone. “Yes, you should call him. He has wanted to talk to you for so long.”
Janet had a million butterflies in her stomach as she picked up the phone again. She felt like a school girl calling her first love. Maybe that wasn’t too far from the truth. Somewhere deep down she felt like he was her first love, maybe her only love. Her heart was beating so fast it felt like it would jump out of her throat.
“Hi, you have reached Jack, I'm not home right now, leave a message.”

Not too sure if I like how this chapter turned out.... But here it is anyway...
Janet’s heart sank when she realized it was Jack’s answering machine instead of Jack. She looked at the clock and realized that he should be on his way home now. She had 2 options, she could hang up and call back later or she could leave a message. She decided to leave a message.
“Hi Jack. This is Janet, I called to thank you for the wonderful baby things. It was a wonderful surprise. Um, I guess I will talk to you soon. Call me. I love you too.”
Janet left her # and walked over to sit on the couch. She thought about all the times that she had shared with Jack. Her eyes filled with tears as she wondered if she had a chance with him. Was she sure that it was love? Could it be something else? Was she afraid of being alone? She placed a hand on her ever growing stomach. How had she managed to make such a mess out of her life? She loved this baby so much and it wasn’t even born yet. Life was so unfair. Growing up she never would have thought that she would be a single mom. She drifted off to sleep.
Jack arrived home and heard the answering machine. He was just unlocking the door when he heard Janet saying “…Call me, I love you too.”
He had rushed to pick up the phone but she had already hung up. Jack muttered “Damn!!” If only he had been a few minutes sooner. He had picked up the phone to call her. The phone rang once, twice and on the third ring she picked up the phone. It was the sweetest sound he ever heard when she said hello.
“Hi Janet, it’s Jack.”
Janet’s heart was pounding and the butterflies were back. “Hi Jack.”
They talked for about an hour. Jack asked about the baby and Janet asked how things were at his restaurant. They talked about everything and anything. Much to Jack’s surprise, Janet asked Jack over to her apartment for dinner. Jack accepted and they agreed to meet for dinner the next night.
Janet was so nervous the following day. She was like a little school girl. She dressed in a maternity dress. Not the sexiest thing in the world. She wished she could wear something nicer.
Jack arrived at Janet’s apartment about 10 minutes early. He was also nervous. His hands were sweating and his stomach felt like a million butterflies had taken up roost inside him. He knocked on her door. The first thing he noticed when she opened the door was how beautiful the pregnancy made her. He leaned forward to kiss her gently on the cheek. Janet hugged him tightly. She never wanted to let him go. The baby picked that exact moment to give a huge kick. Jack stepped back and smiled.
“I guess Jr. doesn’t like me being so close to his mommy.”
Janet smiled and said “Nah, it is just dinner time.”
Jack laughed at that one and they sat down to have dinner. The dinner was fun and filled with lots of companionable talk. They had so much to catch up on. Once dinner was over they went to the living room. Janet sat on the couch and Jack sat next to her. She laid her head on his shoulder. The radio was playing softly in the background. It was a terribly romantic song. Then Jack leaned in for a kiss. It was a deep kiss that Janet returned fully. They were both releasing all the pent up love and emotions of the past few months.
“Forever Tonight” by Peter Cetera and Crystal Bernard
Feel your breath on my shoulder (Janet’s head on Jack’s shoulder)
And I know we couldn't get any closer (Them kissing.)
I don't wanna act tough (Jack caressing Janet’s stomach)
I just wanna fall in love (them kissing deeper)
As we move into the night (Jack and Janet dancing to the song)
I get crazy (Janet kissing Jack’s face and neck)
Thinking how it's gonna be with you, baby (Janet and Jack staring at each other)
I don't wanna play rough (Janet letting Jack kiss her neck softly)
I've been loving you enough, oh baby (All the years that they were friends)
Wanna take forever tonight (Jack staring into Janet’s eyes)
Wanna stay in this moment forever (Janet looking into Jack’s eyes)
I'm gonna give you (both of them touching each others faces and backs)
All the love that I've got
I wanna take forever tonight
Fill you up, fill you up with love
When we close the door
All I need is in your eyes
I wanna take forever tonight
Touch my lips, I'm on fire (they kiss deeper and more intensely)
You're the only one (Janet’s dream about Jack and her marrying)
I'll ever desire (Janet whispering into Jack’s ears)
Turn the lights down low (Jack asking Janet if she is sure)
Make the world go slow (Janet nodding slowly)
When I'm holding you tonight (Jack carries Janet into her bedroom)
It's so easy (Jack carrying Janet kissing her along the way)
Nothing moves me like you do (They are standing in front of Janet’s bed)
When you tease me (Jack slowly caressing her round stomach softly)
And to rush would be a crime (Jack slowly caressing her, feeling her slowly)
I just wanna spend some time with you, baby (Jack’s hand on Janet’s)
Wanna take forever tonight (Kissing)
Wanna stay in this moment forever (looking into each other’s eyes)
I'm gonna give you (Janet letting Jack turn the lights off)
All the love that I've got
I Wanna take forever tonight
Fill you up, fill you up
Give you all my love tonight
When we close the door
All I need is in your eyes
I wanna take forever
And when I'm here beside you (Janet waking up beside Jack the next morning)
I wanna see what drives you (Janet kissing Jack)
Out of your mind (Jack moans deeply)
Oh baby
I never wanna leave (Jack kissing Janet.)
I only wanna be with you (Jack telling Janet he loves her)
'Cause I love how I feel (Janet smiling at Jack)
Your love is for real (They kiss and the screen goes black, we hear the music in the background)
I wanna take forever tonight
Wanna stay in this moment forever
I'm gonna give you
All the love that I've got
I wanna take forever tonight
Wanna stay in this moment forever
I'm gonna give you
All the love that I've got
'Cause I can't live without you (Jack telling Janet he wants to be there for her and the baby)
Janet wakes up and walks into the kitchen. She is still smiling with the memories of the night before. She can’t believe that she gave herself to Jack so completely. She wasn’t expecting it and she wasn’t sorry that it happened. She would later say that he loved every inch of her body that night. She had never felt more loved than she did that night. She was getting a drink of milk when Jack came into the kitchen behind her.
“Morning beautiful, did you sleep well?”
“Mmmm, better than I have in ages, thanks to you.”
Jack smiled and asked her “We didn’t hurt the baby did we?”
Janet smiled at his concern “Nope the baby is just as happy as its mommy.”
Jack smiled and kissed Janet deeply. Screen goes dark as they kiss.
Not the end, almost half way....

Janet smiled to herself that day at work. She kept remembering their wonderful night together. She hated going to work that morning. She needed to though. She had a big order that needed to go out. Jack tried to talk her into calling in sick, but she laughed and told him that she had to go in. He just kissed her and smiled.
“I understand, I really have to go to work too.”
Unknown to them they were being watched. Phillip had been following Janet and saw Jack arrive at Janet’s apartment. He sat there all night waiting for Jack to leave. He was getting more and more angry with every passing moment. How could his wife cheat on him with someone like Jack? He seemed to have forgotten that they were in the middle of a divorce. He still thought of Janet as his. Along with the baby she was carrying. He would have his revenge on them for making a fool out of him. No one makes a fool out of Phillip Dawson and gets away with it. They would both pay dearly for Janet betraying him. It was just a matter of time. Phillip Dawson would have his sweet revenge, and he would enjoy every minute of it. This time there would be no one to intervene with his plans.
Jack called Janet at work and asked if she had any plans for dinner than night. She did. She was meeting with her attorney. Her divorce was going to be finalized the following day. They made plans to meet the following day for dinner.
The next day at court Janet was a nervous wreck. She had forgotten how terrified she was to be in the same room as Phillip. He stomach was in knots and she was shaking. She wished Jack was here. No, she had to do this herself. She could do this. After today she would be free from the man who made her life a living hell for over 6 years. She could finally get on with her life. She wished that the time would go faster.
Finally after about 2 hours in court Janet was a free woman. She had decided to take back her maiden name. She wanted nothing to do with Phillip. Wanted no lasting commitments to him, she wanted him out of her life. Any lasting memories would eventually fade. The only good thing that he gave her was the baby that she carried. She noticed how Phillip looked at her with a look of pure hatred. It made her skin crawl. She just wanted to be out of the courthouse.
Walking into the sun she felt happier than she had in years. The sun was bright and warm. She was floating on air. Until she saw Phillip approaching her, her smile faded and she looked at him.
“I know about you and Jack. How long have you been sleeping with him? Is that even my child that you are carrying? You could have been sleeping with other men while I was at work. You are nothing but a cheap, no good…”
Before he could finish Jack surprised Janet and walked up behind him.
“I suggest that you don’t say what you were thinking. Janet is a better person than you could ever be. You no longer have any claim to her. She is free of you.”
“That’s what you think. You two had better watch your backs. I will pop up again when you least expect it. You haven’t seen the last of me.”

Janet was terrified. She still heard Phillip’s threat and the look on his face terrified her. Jack tried to reassure her. Janet knew that Jack couldn’t be with her every minute of the day. She also knew how much Phillip hated to loose. No matter what it was if he lost it made him angry. Him loosing Janet was the ultimate loss. He thought that he had her under his control. Knowing that she got away was sure to drive him crazy! She was more terrified than ever. She wanted to run away again. However, she had a feeling that no matter where she went, Phillip would find her. So she would have to be cautious and watch herself. No matter what, she wouldn’t let Phillip win. She couldn’t, there was too much at stake. Placing her hand on her stomach she vowed that she would do anything to stop him from hurting her again. Anything it took she would do.
Jack worried about Janet also. Although he tried not to let it show. She was 6 ½ months pregnant and didn’t need any more stress in her life. Phillip was definitely something she didn’t need right now. Jack needed to find a way to protect Janet. He stayed up most of the night thinking about the situation with Janet. Finally at about 2 in the morning he came up with a plan. He went to sleep satisfied that he had come up with the perfect plan to protect Janet.
Jack called Janet at eight the next morning. He asked to meet her at a coffee shop near her apartment. He hoped she would go for the idea. It was the best way he had to protect her. He needed to help her plan her escape. Even if it meant never seeing her again, he owed it to her to help her. To protect her he would make the ultimate sacrifice. His heart was breaking, but he needed to make sure Janet and her baby were safe from Phillip and his insane need for revenge. Maybe someday they could be a family. Jack smiled at the thought of raising Janet’s baby as his own. It would be easy to do. When you love someone as much as he loved Janet, you could love anything and everything about them, including their child. Even though Jack’s heart felt like breaking he smiled. He knew it was for the best. With Janet hidden, he could concentrate on a way to bring them together.
So Jack was sitting with a cup of coffee waiting for Janet. He forced himself to smile. He was dying on the inside. He didn’t want to upset Janet. When he saw her walk in he felt his heart swell with love for her and the baby she carried. He stood up and kissed her deeply. Unconsciously his hand settled on her stomach. He felt her smile into his kiss. God was this going to be hard.
“Hi honey. How are you feeling today?”
“Pretty good, although the baby is very active today, kicking up a storm.”
Jack smiled. “Janet, we need to talk about what we are going to do about Phillip. I am worried about you. The man is crazy. I would die if anything happened to you because of him. I came up with a plan.”
“Jack, I am not going to run again. I just got settled here. I have made friends and I have a job that I love.”
“Janet, I have a plan. I need to make sure you are safe darling. God this is hard to say. Janet, I want you to go and stay with my sister and her family. Phillip knows nothing about them. I have already talked to her. She knows of a house that you can use. Honey, I think it is a good idea. If only until the baby is born.”
“Jack, I am not going anywhere. I know Phillip has a temper but I don’t think he would hurt me. I mean he isn’t crazy.”
“Janet, he used you for a punching bag. What makes you think he won’t try something worse?”
“I can’t say for sure. I just have a feeling. He is full of hot air.”
“Ok, but promise me if he does anything you will at least think about staying with my sister until the baby comes? If you want to come back afterwards I would love to marry you and…”
Janet smiled and said “Jack, I promise if anything happens I will consider going to stay with you sister. Until the baby come, and Jack, I would be honored to be your wife. I would love to raise this baby with you.”
Jack smiled at Janet. He knew that all he could do was hope that Phillip tried something and that would convince Janet she needed to leave to be safe.
It turns out that something happened much sooner than expected. They were leaving the coffee shop and suddenly a car came out of nowhere. Janet saw it in time to move out of the way. However, Jack was caught in the path of the car. He was hit and went up in the air. On the way down he hit the roof of the car. He rolled off and onto the road. Janet screamed for someone to call an ambulance. Luckily someone was smart enough to get a license plate #. In time it would be traced back to Phillip. In the mean time, Jack was rushed to the hospital. He was in critical condition. Janet knew then that she had to leave. Because of her Jack was in the hospital fighting for his life. She decided to leave and go somewhere that no one knew who she was.
Once she knew Jack was going to make it she left. She had the baby things shipped to Jack’s house. So once again she was running for her life and the life of her baby. Maybe someday she could come back and have a life with Jack. If they caught Phillip and put him away she could come back to him.
Ok, so what do you think of this chapter? Not too sure of it myself.....

Eventually they did find out who drove the car that hit Jack. I took the police about 3 weeks, but they did discover it and arrested Phillip. Jack was in a coma when they arrested him. He finally came out of it on the first day of the 4th week. The first person he asked for was Janet. It was up to Terri to explain it to him. She hated having to tell him. It was so hard for her, but it had to be done.
“Jack, I don’t know how to tell you this but…”
“What Terri, where is Janet? Is she ok? Did Phillip hurt her?”
“Jack, calm down, Janet is fine. At least I think she is fine.”
“What do you mean you think she is fine? Where is she?”
“Well, she was very upset after you were hit by the car. She blamed herself. I tried to talk her out of it, but she was unconvinced. She told me that she had to go. That she had promised you she would leave. I couldn’t get her to tell me where she was going. I asked her to call me. She shipped all the baby things to your place and left town. I haven’t heard from her in almost 3 weeks.”
“Have they caught him yet?”
“Yes about 3 weeks after he hit you. He is in jail now. They have charged him with hit and run and attempted murder. He will be away for a long time.”
“Why did Janet run? I mean if they knew who did this?”
“She said something about promising you that she would leave if he tried something. Did you ask her to do that Jack?”
“Yes, but I never thought…”
“It’s ok Jack. No one could have known what he was planning. I just hope Janet is safe. Wherever she is.”
They had brought in a radio for Jack to listen to. He turned it on and the song that played nearly broke his heart. It seemed so fitting, but at the same time it almost had him feeling as if things were over for good between him and Janet. It was “Remember me this way” by Jordan Hill. He thought about all the special times the shared and wondered if they would share many more.
Every now and then
We find a special friend
who never lets us down...
Who understands it all
reaches out each time we fall
you're the best friend i have found...
I know you can't stay
a part of you will never ever go away
your heart will stay.....
I'll make a wish for you,
and hope it will come true,
if life will just be kind,
to such a gentle mind,
if you lose your way,
think back on yesturday
remember me this way,
remember me this way.
I don't need eyes to see
the love you bring to me,
no matter where I go
and I know that you'll be there
forever-more a part of me and everywhere
I'll always care.....
I'll make a wish for you
and hope it will come true,
if life will just be kind,
to such a gentle mind,
and if you lose your way
think back on yesturday
remember me this way,
remember me this way.
and I'll be right behind your shoulder, watching you
I'll be standing by your side, all you do
and I won't ever leave
as long as you believe,
you just believe....
I'll make a wish for you
and hope it will come true
if life will just be kind
to such a gentle mind
and if you lose your way
think back on yesturday
remember me this way
remember me this way.
o.....this way.
Jack just prayed that wherever she was, that she was safe and would remember him and all that they shared and all that they could share in the future. Jack wanted to be in her and her baby’s future. If only Janet would let him.
Janet was safe. She was over 1000 miles away. She went to a small town in Colorado. It was a very safe little town. Somewhere Phillip would never think to look for her. The people were very friendly and nice. She still thought about Jack all the time. It seemed like her heart was full of sadness. She wished he could be with her. Whether it was in Santa Monica or here, it didn’t matter as long as they were together. She found a good doctor and was seeing him regularly. She was almost 7 ½ months pregnant. She felt like this pregnancy would never end. She wanted to meet her little one. She was fighting so hard to make sure this baby was safe.
She was calling the hospital everyday. She wanted to keep tabs on Jack. She never left her name and never called from a phone close to the town she now called home. She felt like she had finally escaped Phillip and his sick hold on her. She found out that he had been arrested and was awaiting trial. Still, she wouldn’t go back. She couldn’t go back. Even though she knew she had a good reason, she felt like she had abandoned Jack when he needed her most. For that she couldn’t forgive herself. Even if Jack did. The best thing she could do right now is to stay away. Maybe in a few years they could be together again. That was the last thought Janet had as she drifted off into a restless sleep.
Janet awoke and felt more refreshed than she had in months. She decided that she would call the hospital again. Hopefully they would have news about Jack. When she called today they would have better news. Maybe he was awake. That would make Janet feel much better. When she called the hospital instead of the standard “We can’t give out any information” they put her thru to Jack’s room. Did she dare talk to him? Should she hang up? She had to think quick, she owed him an apology.
“Hi Jack, it’s Janet.”
“Janet, where are you? Why did you run away?”
“Jack, I can’t tell you where I am. Just know that I am safe. I miss you.”
“I miss you too. You didn’t have to leave honey. None of this is your fault. I love you so much. Janet it is safe to come back now. Phillip is in jail.”
“Jack, it will never be safe for me to come back. We have to face reality Jack. He is never going to give up. It is better if I stay away and live my life apart from you. It will be hard. Never seeing your smile, never hearing your laugh, but Jack we have to do it. He almost killed you once. I couldn’t live with myself if you were killed because of me.”
“Don’t I have any say in this? Can’t we talk about it? I love you so much. It is killing me to not be able to see you. What can I say to make you change your mind? Tell me and I will do it, say it.”
By now Janet had tears in her eyes. She should have hung up the phone while she had the chance. This was the hardest thing she had ever done. She should have taken the coward’s way out. Although with Jack being a coward was hard. They were always so honest with each other. “Jack, there is nothing you can say. Nothing you can do to change the fact that I married a psycho 7 years ago. I was the fool. I am always making stupid mistakes and then have to sit by while the people I love are hurt. Jack, it is better if I say goodbye forever. Maybe someday you will find someone to love, Jack. Please be happy and try to remember all the good times we shared together. I love you Jack, with all my heart.”
“Janet, if you love me let me be with you. I want to help you. Even if it means selling the restaurant and moving to what ever part of the country you are in. Janet, I can always start a new restaurant. I only have one true love, and that is you Janet. Please let me love you? I promise you I will never let you down.”
“Jack, I can’t take the chance that…”
“Janet can you please let me decide for myself, I want to make this sacrifice for you, you would do it for me, wouldn’t you?”
“Jack, this is totally different. This is your life we are talking about. Jack, please respect my wishes and don’t try to find me. Don’t call and most of all don’t come and see me. It is better this way. It might hurt now, but you will get over me. In time we will make our way. Please know that you will always hold a special place in my heart. I love you so much Jack. You have been a friend, a lover and a great person to know. Please think of me with happiness. Know that you are the only true love I have ever had. It is because I love you that I am letting go. Please try to understand that Jack. I will never find another love like I had with you. I could spend the rest of my life trying, but I will not succeed. Keep me in your heart Jack. I will keep you in mine.”
Jack felt like jumping thru the phone. He wanted to tell Janet that they would work thru this. That they could handle anything Phillip could throw at them. He didn’t understand why she wouldn’t let him in. He loved her and he felt like she was pushing him away. He didn’t know what to do about it. So he decided to do the only thing he could do. He would wait. He would also hire a private investigator and find her. Then he would go to her and pledge his love to her. Hopefully it would be enough.
Phillip had been in jail for a little over 3 days. He was talking about what he had done. Which was stupid really. He talked about the hatred he had for Janet and Jack. He also mentioned that Janet was pregnant. Word got around that he had abused her and one of the more violent prisoners decided to take matters into his own hands. He ambushed Phillip one night on the way back from the recreation room. He beat him up so severely that he was in a coma for 4 days before he died. Jack was notified. He couldn’t believe it. Now he had to hope against hope that the PI he hired could find Janet.
As always feedback is welcome and appreciated!!

Jack was at Terri’s house. He had been released from the hospital the day before. Terri was hovering over him like a mother hen. Anything he needed seemed to magically appear. It was funny watching her. It was almost like she was afraid to let him do anything at all. Jack had contacted a private investigator. Unfortunately he had very little to go on. All he did have was her name and description. However, the detective said that he had connections and could find out much more than Jack could ever dream of. So basically it was a wait and see game. In the meantime he had other things he had to do. He spent hours on the phone. He was making arrangements for when the detective found Janet. Some of the changes were good; others were probably going to upset Janet. One of others, well that remained to be seen.
Jack was on the phone with the other chef at his restaurant. “So basically what I am looking for is a partner. If you are interested I can arrange to sell you part of the restaurant. You would get half of the profits and the possibility of owning the restaurant in full. If everything goes like I want it to, then I would be willing to sell the whole thing.”
“Jack, are you sure? You have been running this restaurant for so long. Why would you decide to sell now? Not that I don’t want the chance at my own restaurant, but selling it. Isn’t it a bit drastic?”
“Brian, I am doing what I have to do. I might have to follow the woman I love to another part of the country. If that happens I want to leave Jack’s Bistro is capable hands. I need someone I can trust to look after my half. Who better than you? I trust you Brian.”
“Thanks Jack. I am honored. Can I have time to think about it?”
“Sure buddy. I have no idea how long it is going to take the detective to find her. Could be weeks, months or maybe longer, I just need to know that I am leaving with everything taken care of.”
Terri was listening to Jack on the phone, she couldn’t believe her ears. Jack was actually thinking about taking a partner. That wasn’t a bad thing but, he sounded so desperate that it broke her heart. She hated to think about Jack and Janet living somewhere else. She wished there was something she could do to either bring Janet back, or at least get her to call them. She sat on the couch reading the newspaper, when suddenly an idea came to her. She quickly went to her computer and started it up. The last thing we see is Terri busily typing away at her computer with a thoughtful look on her face.
Janet was busy at work today. She had found a job at a little flower shop. They didn’t pay much, but one of the perks was a small apartment across town. It was big enough for her and would be good when the baby came. She wasn’t sure what she was going to do once the baby came. She tried not to think of it.
She was sitting at the little diner in the middle of town eating dinner. The town was small enough that a stranger would be recognized in town. She hadn’t been there long but she knew quite a few people. So when the man walked in she could tell he was not from around here. For one thing he wore a suit. Most of the folks around here wore jeans and cowboy boots. Another thing that gave him away was the fact that he was asking a lot of questions. Janet had no idea who he was, but she had the feeling that she needed to get out of there. At 8 months pregnant she had to watch out and getting an unexpected surprise from someone possibly looking for her was too much. So she left the money on the table and started walking home.
It was a cold winter day. It was close to Thanksgiving and she wished she had family around. Oh well, no use dwelling on that. She had a funny feeling that she was being followed. She had to walk faster. Suddenly she hit a patch of ice lost, her balance and fell to the ground.
As always feedback is greatly appreciated and welcome.

There will be more J&J moments later. Although not in this chapter. Am setting up something.. Read on for more....
The detective saw Janet slip. Janet sat on the ground for a few minutes. She was stunned by what happened, more than that she was concerned that the baby was ok. She took a moment to make sure she was ok and then suddenly she was approached by the stranger in the restaurant.
"Are you ok Ms.?"
"Yes, at least I think I am ok. Nothing is hurt, except my pride." She smiled at the man in front of her. He had a kind face and didn't look like such a bad guy after all.
"Would you like an escort to wherever it is that you are headed? I am here on vacation and would be glad to escort a pretty lady like you." He extended his arm for Janet to hold onto.
Again Janet smiled and took his arm. He definitely was a gentleman. After a few minutes they arrived at Janet's apartment. "Well, here we are. Thank you for your help. Although I still feel foolish for falling like I did."
"Don't worry about it. My sister has 3 kids and was always falling when she was pregnant." With that he took her hand and kissed it softly. With that he walked away.
Janet blushed at the stranger. She tried to blame it on the cold weather, but she knew better. It had been awhile since anyone had flattered her like that. That got her thinking about Jack. God, how she missed him, she missed everything about him. From the way he laughed to the way he smiled. She thought about all the crazy times they had together. The more she thought about him, the more she missed him. She wished he was here. She really needed a friend. One of the best things about Jack was that even thru all the craziness he was there for her. She could always count on him to make her laugh. Even when she felt like crying, he made her laugh. As she sat on the couch her thoughts turned to all the crazy times they had together. From the first minute they met until she left for Chicago he was there for her. She needed him now and wanted to share her life with him. She wanted him in her baby's life. If only she had the courage to tell him that.
Jack was working at Jack's Bistro. It was a busy night. Jack and Brian were both cooking and Jack had a chance to talk to him.
"So, have you given my offer any more thought?"
"Yes, I have decided that I would love to take you up on the offer. I have to get approval from the bank for a loan, but it would be a wonderful opportunity for me. Thanks Jack!"
"Hey, you've earned it. You've worked hard for me and have shown that you care about this place as much as I do."
With that they went back to work. They were in the middle of the dinner crowd when Jack got a call that would change his life.
"Jack, there is a phone call for you. It is a Vicky Bradford, she says she has something very important to talk to you about."
Jack felt all of the blood rush out of his face. He felt like someone had thrown ice water on him. He hadn’t heard from Vicky for over 4 years. Why would she suddenly decide to call him after all these years?
"I'll take that call in my office."
"Jack Tripper? How may I help you."
"Hi Jack, it’s Vicky, how have you been?
“Vicky, what do you want? Why are you calling me after all these years? Are you bored with all the other men out there? Decide to give Jack another try?”
“Jack please, I need to meet you. I have something I need to talk to you about. It is very important. Please Jack.”
“Give me a good reason why I should take the time to see you? After the way you left me, no note, no phone call nothing. I should hang up this phone right now.”
“Please Jack, just give me 30 minutes to talk to you. If you never want to talk to me again I understand. Please?”
Jack didn’t know why he was still listening to her. Maybe it was the desperation in her voice. Maybe it was something in the way she was begging him. He didn’t know but he was willing to give her the short time. If only to hear what she had to say.
“Ok, meet me at Jack’s Bistro in 10 minutes. It is busy, but we can talk in private in my office.”
Vicky was happy that Jack was willing to listen to her. She had something to tell him, something that would change everyone’s life forever. She only hoped that he believed her. She had no reason to lie to him. Too many lies have already been told between them. We see her looking at a picture of a little
boy as a single tear rolls down her cheek.
As always, reviews are much appreciated and welcome.

Vicky was nervous as she walked up the walk to Jack’s Bistro. She hadn’t been here in over 4 years. She thought about him every day. It was hard not to though. She was reminded of him every day. She just hoped he wasn’t too mad at her. She prayed that he would believe her and what she was about to tell him. He was her only hope. She needed him more now than ever.
Jack was sitting in his office deep in thought. Who would have guessed today when he woke up that Vicky would call him? Certainly not him, he was still stunned. What could she possibly want from him? She definitely sounded desperate on the phone. Not at all like the woman had he known. She sounded scared and lonely. What could be up with her?
Jack met her at the door. He looked at her. She had lost weight, and she had a sad look in her eyes.
"Vicky, I wish I could say that it is good to see you again, but I can’t.”
“Jack, please I don’t want to fight. I came here to talk calmly and maybe…”
“You want to talk. That’s new. You were never interested in talking before. Leaving was more your style.”
“Jack, are you going to let me speak? I have some things I have to tell you. Something important, although I am not sure where to start.”
“Why don’t you start at the beginning? That is usually a good place to start.”
“Well, after I left 4 years ago I discovered that I was pregnant. I was afraid to tell you. So I didn’t. I don’t have a good reason except that I was scared. I was afraid how you would react. So I kept it hidden. My father knew, but I swore him to secrecy.”
Did Jack just here what he thought he heard? She was pregnant when she left him? “How could you do something like that Vicky? I had a right to know about my child. Damn you Vicky. How could you do something so low, so cold?”
Tears were coursing down her cheeks. “Believe me Jack, if I could go back in time and do it over again I would. I have hated myself ever since the day I found out.”
“Good!! I am glad you felt something. God, Vicky! I had a right to know. I am sure you father kept the secret willingly, he always hated me. He never thought I was good enough for you.”
Jack felt betrayed in the worst way. He had to know something else. “Did you have the baby?”
“Yes, here is a picture. It was taken 3 months ago. He is a little over 3 now. His name is Andrew Stephen Bradford.”
Jack studied the picture of his son. His son, that blew him away and suddenly tears that he hadn’t known he was holding back began rolling down his face. The picture was like looking back in time. The little boy in the picture looked just like Jack when he was the same age.
“Why now Vicky, you could have kept the secret for you entire life and been happy with him.”
“Well, Jack the irony in that statement is that I don’t have long to live. I was diagnosed with inoperable ovarian cancer six months ago. The doctors thought they caught it all, unfortunately they were wrong. Nothing they have done has managed to stop the spread. So, I only have about 4 months to live. I’m dying Jack.
“I am sorry to hear that.” He really was, because despite everything he would never wish this on anyone.
“Thanks Jack. I need to tie up all the loose ends before….” She couldn’t bring herself to finish. She broke down in tears as Jack rushed to hold her.

Jack held Vicky until her tears subsided. Then somehow, he found himself kissing her. He knew that it was wrong, but something inside him couldn’t help it. He was so confused inside that it just happened. He hadn’t wanted it, hadn’t asked for it. She looked so small and vulnerable that he lost all control of his mind. It was like he was on the outside looking in. He knew he would hate himself in the morning, but tonight it felt right. He would realize later that it was because he missed Janet that he let himself be controlled by Vicky, but that didn’t make it any easier to accept. He knew that he would hate himself in the morning, but tonight was all either of them could think about.
God help him, he tried to push her away, but she was like a drug to his emotionally battered soul. Something about her was addictive. He knew she was bad for him and that he needed to push her away, but telling his brain was something all together different. He felt himself being drawn in, deeper and deeper. It was like she was a spider weaving a web. He couldn’t escape no matter how hard he tried. He heard himself moan and suddenly all his thoughts were gone and he was just reacting to her kiss. She was bad for him, but somehow it didn’t matter at that moment in time. It was all he could do to stay standing. He felt himself being pushed back onto his bed and the next thing he knew Vicky was next to him. The sound of them making love can be heard in the background. The song “Can’t fight the moonlight” by Leann Rimes plays as the scene ends.
Under a lovers' sky
Gonna be with you
And no one's gonna be around
If you think that you won't fall
Well just wait until
Til the sun goes down
Underneath the starlight - starlight
There's a magical feeling - so right
It'll steal your heart tonight
You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
Deep in the dark
You'll surrender your heart
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
No, you can't fight it
It's gonna get to your heart
There's no escape from love
Once a gentle breeze
Weaves it's spell upon your heart
No matter what you think
It won't be too long
Til your in my arms
Underneath the starlight - starlight
We'll be lost in the rhythm - so right
Feel it steal your heart tonight
You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
Deep in the dark
You'll surrender your heart
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
No you can't fight it
No matter what you do
The night is gonna get to you
Don't try
You're never gonna win
Underneath the starlight - starlight
There's a magical feeling - so right
It will steal your heart tonight
You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
Deep in the dark
You'll surrender your heart
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
No, you can't fight it
You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know
Don't you know that you can't fight the moonlight
Deep in the dark
You'll surrender your heart
But you know
But you know that you can't fight the moonlight
No, you can't fight it
It's gonna get to your heart
Jack awoke in the morning to see Vicky in the bed next to him. He couldn’t believe that his life had come to this. He felt lower than low. He loved Janet, but somehow Vicky had worked her way into his life and his bed again. He needed to be honest with her. He had to end it now, before it got out of control. Then he would call the detective and see if he had any news on Janet.
“Vicky wake up, we need to talk.”
Vicky smiled and stretched. She had a contented look on her face. “Morning Jack. Did you sleep well? I know I did.”
“I didn’t get much sleep. Spent all night thinking about what is going on between us.”
“Oh Jack, you still care about me. I knew it.”
“Vicky, what I had for you is gone. Vicky, we need to talk about last night. I mean, I loved you once, but that is over now. What happened last night can’t happen again. I was upset because of everything you told me. I am in love with someone else. She means the world to me. I am planning on asking her to marry me.”
“Well, I guess it really is over between us. I still love you Jack. Nothing will change that. I just wanted to see you one last time. To see if there was a chance for us, I guess I will be going now.” She goes to the bathroom to freshen up. Vicky stopped to kiss Jack again. She also needed to grab something from Jack’s room. Something she had placed there last night before they started. A certain video camera, she smiled as she thought how this could come in handy later. She might by dying, but her need to hurt Jack is strong, this will definitely come in handy.
Ok, I might have went a bit far with this one. But I do promise that it has a happy ending.....

Jack is consumed with guilt. How can he sleep with Vicky when he is in love with Janet? He sits at the table nursing a cup of coffee, when he hears the phone ring. It is the detective, he has news about Janet.
“Mr. Tripper, I have located Ms. Wood. She is living in a small town in Colorado. I have an address for her. Would you like the information?”
“Yes!”
The detective gives him all the information he has. Her address, phone # and the name of the town where she is living. After he hangs up he hears Vicky walk in.
“Anyway we do need to talk about Andrew. I have to sign the papers assigning you as his guardian once I pass away. I would also like for you to come to our house to meet him. I think it is time our son met his father.”
“Call me Vicky. You know that # at the Bistro.”
“Of course Jack.” She leans over to kiss him. It lands on his cheek. “Very well, I will be in touch Jack.”
We see Jack with his face in his hands as the scene ends. We see the pain in his face when he gets up to get dressed. Vicky says that she will let herself out. She is still in the kitchen when he goes into his room.
Janet just arrived home after her weekly doctor’s appointment. She decides that she needs to call Jack. She needs him more after the visit today. It turns out that she has a problem with the pregnancy and she needs to talk to him. So she picks up the phone to call him. The phone rings 3 times before she hears a female voice pick up the phone.
“Hello? Tripper residence.”
Janet is taken aback; she doesn’t recognize Vicky’s voice. “Is Jack there? I need to speak with him.”
“He is getting dressed. Can I take a message?”
“Who is this?”
“My name is Vicky.”
Upon hearing Vicky’s name she drops the phone back into the cradle. She has tears in her eyes as we hear her thinking.
“Vicky is back in his life. I guess he has moved on. Well, I guess it serves me right for playing hard to get.”
Meanwhile, Jack has come back into the kitchen. He heard the phone ring and asks Vicky who called.
“Some woman, she didn’t leave her name. She asked who I was and hung up after I told her.”
Jack had a sneaking suspicion that he knew who it was that called. “Janet…” It was more of a whisper.
“Janet? Is that who you are in love with? Well, I guess if you are desperate she will do.”
“Watch it Vicky, last night was a mistake. Pure and simple, it will never happen again. It’s not you that I love.”
“Well, you could have fooled me. I sure felt good last night. Well, please call me. We need to discuss Andrew and what arrangements will need to be made for him. Will Janet accept him in her life? I mean he is part of me.”
“He is my son also. Janet loves me. She will accept him.”
God, he hoped that last statement was true. He needed to call her. As soon as Vicky was out of his place he got on the phone. It rang twice before Janet answered.
“Hello Jack. So Vicky is back in your life again? It didn’t take you very long.”
“Janet, I can explain everything. I have so much to tell you.”
“I bet, and it starts with the words, I’ve fallen back in love with Vicky. Am I right Jack? Do I loose you to her again? Do I have a chance? Have I lost you forever?”
“Janet, you will never loose me. Vicky has nothing on you. You are everything she isn’t. I love you. There is a lot I have to tell you though. Can I come visit you? I need to talk to you and what I have to say can’t be done on the phone.”
“Jack, I don’t know. I am so confused. I need to talk to you. I need to see you. Please come to me Jack. I love you.”
Those simple words tore Jack in two. He was torn up with guilt at what he had done the night before. How could he face Janet knowing that he had slept with Vicky? Even if he was an emotional wreck, there was no excuse for that. He needed to see her. Needed to tell her about his son, he just hoped she would accept him.
First though, he had to meet his son. That would happen in a three days. Vicky wanted to get Andrew used to the idea. So three days after he found out about his son he met him. Vicky answered the door and let Jack inside.
“Hi Jack. Andrew is in the living room. He is anxious to meet you. I have told him that you are his father. He has been talking about it ever since.”
Jack walked into the living room and saw his son for the first time. It was a magical moment. He wasn’t sure what to say. All he knew was that his heart felt such love for this little boy. He had tears in his eyes as he looked up a Vicky. He mouthed two simple but powerful words. “Thank you.”
Vicky smiled at seeing father and son together for the first time. How she hoped that Janet accepted him. No matter what she had done wrong in her life, this little boy was the one thing she had done right. She hoped Janet could love him as her own. She had to leave the room, the emotions had become too much for her. She went to her bedroom to have a good cry. Despite everything that had happened between her and Jack, she loved him. She just hoped that she could be strong in the coming months. She was going to need all the strength she could find. Her life was winding down. She could feel herself becoming weaker. It seemed like everyday another part of her strength was lost, never to be found again. She called out to Jack to tell him she was going to take a nap. All she did was sleep lately. She was getting more tired as time went on. The doctor’s all said that eventually she would drift into a painful sleep and never awaken. That is what she had to look forward to.
Until then Vicky would hold onto the video tape. Once she was gone she would make sure that Janet saw it. Then her revenge would be complete.

Terri was smiling. Larry was being completely charming. He had been helping out at her house for a few weeks now. He would take the kids for ice cream when she needed a break and was there to help her with the heavy lifting. Moving tables and the couch. Just being a big help. She was starting to see him in a different light. Some would think it was because she was lonely. That couldn’t be further from the truth. She had plenty of boyfriends. This was something more. She was starting to think of Larry as someone special. She could laugh with him. He liked her kids, and they liked him. Something just felt right about this. She would love to see what would happen given the chance.
Jack was busy working at the restaurant. He is sitting at an empty table. He is deep in thought and doesn’t see Larry come in. He is still racked with guilt. He can’t believe how he betrayed Janet. He feels lower than dirt and can’t imagine that he will ever feel any better.
“Hey Jack-o, why do you look like you lost your best friend? I am right here. I know I have been busy at work and with Terri..” Realizing that he let that last piece of information slip, he blushes. Then he realizes that Jack isn’t paying a bit of attention to him. Jack is obviously deep in thought. Larry tries another tactic.
“Guess what, Terri and I are getting married next week.”
“That’s nice Larry.”
Now he knows that Jack isn’t paying any attention to him.
“Seriously though, I want to ask you advice on something. I mean, Terri is a nice woman and her kids are wonderful. I have been spending a lot of time with them. Helping her out around the house, doing some heavy lifting for her. Do you think she would maybe consider going on a date with me?”
“I am the last one you should be asking about that Larry. I am a no good bum when it comes to love.”
“Okay Jack, what’s up? Usually I am the one with a bad attitude about women. What is wrong with you today?”
“You wouldn’t believe it if I told you Larry. I almost don’t believe it myself. I feel lower than dirt right now.”
“Jack nothing can be that bad. Tell Larry what’s wrong.”
“Well, I got a visit from Vicky yesterday.”
“Whoa.”
“Yeah, and that’s not all. She sprang a huge bombshell on me. She told me I have a son. He is 3.”
“You’re kidding? Are you sure he is yours? I mean that woman would say anything to get you back.”
Jack takes the picture out of his pocket. Larry stares at it. “Whoa, she isn’t lying. That is cold, even for her. What does she want from you?”
“Well, it turns out that she is dying. So I am going to be a full time dad soon. Larry I don’t know a thing about being a dad. Especially a single dad, that isn’t even the worst part. I was such a mess that I made the biggest mistake of my life. Larry, I um, I slept with her.”
Larry’s jaw dropped open. For the first time he is speechless.
“Larry, what am I going to tell Janet? God, how this is going to hurt her, she is gone for a few months and I can’t control myself. Larry I don’t deserve her. I should just forget I ever met her. I don’t deserve her. I will never forgive myself as long as I live.”
“Well, Jack, I can definitely say that I am surprised. I never thought that you would have done something like this. I can only say that if it were me I would keep quiet about the whole thing. I mean how is she going to know any different?”
“I can’t do that Larry, what if she found out?”
“You need to tell her about your son, but Jack you can leave out the rest.”
“I don’t know Larry, what if..”
“Jack, she will never know. You asked for my opinion. I am just letting you know what I would do if I were in your shoes.”
“So what is this about you and Terri?”
Larry smiles and says “I think I am in love with her. She is some woman. I wanted to ask you if I should ask her out on a date. Who knows, we might have a double wedding.”
“Larry, if Terri agrees to marry you, I will eat my shoes.”
“You might just have to do that Jack, you just might.”
Scene ends on a smiling Larry.

Janet was getting ready for Jack’s visit. He called her earlier in the week to make plans to visit. She was looking forward to seeing him again. She really missed him. Although she didn’t realize how much she missed him until she heard his voice on the phone.
She had to get her life back. Whether it meant facing her fears and going back to Santa Monica with Jack, or staying here in Colorado. Nothing was going to get better if she ran away from it. She needed to face her fears. She would start today by talking with Jack.
She got in her car and drove to the airport to pick up Jack. She was waiting at the gate when he walked off the plane. He looked so handsome. She felt her heart do a little flip flop. God, how she loved this man, the time they had spent apart only strengthened her feelings for him. She walked to him, smiled and kissed him deeply. He was surprised at how she kissed him, like he was a long lost love. In a way he felt like he was. He had missed her so much. The pregnancy had made her more beautiful, if that was possible. She had a glow about her. She was nearly 9 months pregnant and the baby was taking up more and more room. She felt huge and blushed when Jack told her how beautiful she was.
“I don’t feel beautiful right now. I feel huge and am so ready for this baby to be born.”
They were standing in the middle of the airport hugging each other when the baby picked that exact moment to give Janet a big kick. Jack placed his hand on Janet’s stomach and smiled. He then kissed her deeply. Like he couldn’t get enough of her. Janet was surprised at how intense his kisses were.
Jack smiled and realized they really needed to talk. He wasn’t sure how she was going to take the news about him having a son. He hoped she would be okay with it. He wasn’t sure though.
“Are you hungry? I am starving. I didn’t eat the thing they called food on the plane. I don’t eat what I can’t identify.”
“I am a little hungry.”
They are looking at each other they both have tears in their eyes.
Jack knows how hard this conversation is going to be. For a split second he wishes that he could get away with not telling Janet about Andrew. He realizes how silly that thought is. If he is going to have a life with Janet, how would he explain Andrew arriving after Vicky is gone?
They arrive at the restaurant and they are seated. They order and then the conversation starts. Janet talks first.
“Jack, what was Vicky doing at your place when I called? That has been bothering me. If there is something going on with you two…”
“Janet, I found out something that is going to be hard to believe. You have to know that I had no idea about this.”
“What are you trying to tell me Jack?”
“Well, it turns out that shortly after she left me she found out she was pregnant. She never told me Janet. How could she have kept something like that from me?”
“So she wants you back because of the child?”
“No, it turns out that she is dying. She only has months to live. So, I am going to have to step up and be mom and dad. How Janet? I know nothing about being a dad.”
“Do you have a picture of him?”
Jack took the small picture out of his pocket. She smiled at the little boy. He looked like a miniature Jack. “Looks like I am going to have my hands full with you two. I hope this baby takes after me.”
Janet’s next words were something he didn’t expect. “Jack I want to go home. I need to face Phillip and get my life back. I miss Terri and all my old friends.”
“Janet, you don’t know?”
“Know what?”
“Janet, Phillip was killed almost 2 months ago. He was killed in prison fight. I thought you knew.”
“Jack I had no idea. You know what this means? I am free.”
With that they kissed.
Janet spoke first “Let’s go back to my place.”
Jack smiled and they walked out of the restaurant.

Terri was smitten. She was falling in love with Larry. He was totally charming when he wasn’t trying to be a big ladies man. He took her out on a date lat night and she discovered what a gentleman he could be. He gave her the most romantic night of her life. He took her to a wonderful restaurant overlooking the ocean. He pulled out her chair as she sat down. He looked at her with a look bordering on fascination. If someone had told her 10 years ago that she would fall in love with Larry Dallas, she would have told them they were crazy. Now she wasn’t so sure. She could see herself falling madly in love with him. She turns on the radio and smiles at the song that is playing. She can’t help but dance and sing along with the song “Right Kind of Wrong” By Leann Rimes.
I know all about,
Yea about your reputation
And now it's bound to be a heartbreak situation
But I can't help it if I'm helpless
Every time that I'm where you are
You walk in and my strength walks out the door
Say my name and I can't fight it any more
Oh I know, I should go
But I need your touch just too damn much
Lovin you, That isn't really something I should do
I shouldn't wanna spend my time with you yea
Well I should try to be strong
But baby you're the right kind of wrong
Yea, baby you're the right kind of wrong
It might be a mistake
A mistake I'm makin'
But what your giving I am happy to be taking
Cause no one's ever made me feel
The way when I'm in your arms
They say your something I should do without
They don't know what goes on
When the lights go out
There's no way to explain
All the pleasure is worth all the pain
Lovin you, That isn't really something I should do ya-hey
I shouldn't wanna spend my time with you ya
Well I should try to be strong
But baby you're the right kind of wrong
Ya, baby you're the right kind of wrong
I should try to run but I just can't seem to
'Cause every time I run your the one I run to
Can't do without what you do to me,
I don't care if I'm in to deep yeah
I know all about,
Yea about your reputation
And now it's bound to be a heartbreak situation
But I can't help it if I'm helpless
Every time that I'm where you are
You walk in and my strength walks out the door
Say my name and I can't fight it any more
Oh I know, I should go
But I need your touch just too damn much
Hey-yeah
Lovin you, yeah, isn't really something I should do
I shouldn't wanna spend my time with you ya
Well I should try to be strong, I should try to be strong
But baby you're the right kind of wrong (right kind of wrong)
Baby you're the right kind of wrong
Baby you're the right kind of wrong
Yeah baby you're the right kind of wrong
Terri smiled as the song ended. Yeah, she could definitely see herself falling in love with Larry. Just then Larry walked in and she smiled and started laughing.
“Is it something I said?”
“Nope, inside joke.”
“Okay, I think I should be worried. Women don’t usually laugh when I walk into the room.”
Terri just smiles and walks over to him. She gives him a kiss on the cheek and says “You are so cute.”
“She thinks I’m cute!” He places a hand over his heart and bats his eyes.
"Okay Romeo, lets get to work."
"At your service."
Terri laughs at him. We see them working in the house. They are hanging up new curtains that Terri bought. They are laughing and having a good time just being together. They decide to take a break and Terri gets them something to drink.
“So, have you heard anything from Jack lately?”
“Jack?”
“Yeah, you know, your best friend?”
“Yeah, I talked to him about a week ago. He said that he had seen Vicky again. She told him something that knocked him for a loop.”
“What was that?”
“Well, it seems that after she left him she found out she was pregnant. She never told him though. She just told him last week.”
“Whoa!”
“Yeah, that’s what I said too.”
“What does she want from Jack? I mean he is involved with Janet now. At least I think they are involved. “
“Well, it seems that she is dying. She has cancer.”
“Man that is tough.”
“Yeah, Jack was pretty shook up over it. He has no idea how he is going to be a dad. You know Jack, He is all thumbs when it comes to kids.”
“Yeah, but he will work it out. When he puts his mind to something he can do it.”
They laugh and kiss as the scene ends.

Terri, Larry and her kids are having dinner when the phone rings.
“Hello?”
“Hi Terri, it’s Janet.
“Janet!! It is so good to hear from you. How are you? Has the baby come yet? Have you talked to Jack?”
“Slow down Terri. I am fine. No, I am still pregnant. Yes, I have talked to Jack. He is right here beside me.”
“What? He is there with you? Oh my gosh!! That is so wonderful Janet.”
“So what have you been up to? How are the kids?”
“The kids are wonderful; we are having dinner with Larry.”
“Larry is there?”
“Yeah, Janet just between you and me, I am falling in love with him. He is something else.”
“This is Larry Dallas that you are talking about right?”
Terri laughs and says “Yes, who would have thought that I would be falling for him?”
Janet smiles and thinks the same thing about her and Jack. Who would’ve thought that all those years ago when Janet and Chrissy found Jack in their bathtub it would turn into so much more? Certainly not Janet, she had found the love of her life way back when. She smiled thinking about the first time they met. Jack had come to mean so much to her. He was a friend and lover all rolled into one. She loved him more than anyone she had ever known.
They talked for a few minutes more and then they hung up the phone. Janet kissed Jack and everything seemed right with the world.

Terri is in bed late at night. She is thinking about everything that has been happening lately. She is wishing that she wasn’t so afraid to tell Larry how she felt about him. She was remembering her marriage and divorce. She had been so sure that the marriage would last forever, but her ex-husband found someone else. He said that Terri was no fun anymore. She was stunned. They did have a good marriage until her youngest daughter was born. Something inside her died the day that she signed the divorce papers. She was wondering if she would ever get that back. Should she risk exposing her heart and tell Larry how she felt? What if he didn’t feel the same? With tears in her eyes she rolled over and tried to sleep. She was confused and scared. This was not at all like Terri. Her heart was still raw from the emotions of the divorce. She finally decided that the next time she saw Larry she would tell him how she felt. “What if I said” By Steve Warnier and Anita Cochran…
We've been friends for a long long time
You tell me your secrets and I'll tell you mine
She's left you all alone
And you feel like no one cares
But I have never failed you
I've always been there
You tell your story
It sounds a bit like mine
It's the same old situation
It happens every time
Can't we see it oh maybe you and me
Is what's meant to be
Do we disagree
What if I told you what if I said that I love you
How would you feel what would you think
What would we do
Do we dare to cross that line between your heart and mine
Or would I lose a friend or find a love that would never end
What if I said
She doesn't love you oh it's' plain to see
I can read between the lines of what you're telling me
He doesn't hold you the way a woman should be held
How long can I go on keeping these feelings to myself
What if I told you what if I said that I love you
How would you feel what would you think
What would we do
Do we dare to cross that line between your heart and mine
Or would I lose a friend or find a love that would never end
What if I said
Oh we've both had our share of lonliness
So whose to say that we can't have a little happiness
And if I found that in you
It would make my dreams come true
Or would you walk away
Hear what I have to say
What if I told you what if I said that I love you
How would you feel what would you think
What would we do
Do we dare to cross that line between your heart and mine
I've always wondered from the day we met
What if I said
What if I said
What if I said
Jack and Janet are having breakfast. We see Jack is deep in thought about something. He is remembering the night with Vicky. He has decided that he is going to tell her the truth. He knows that if he waits, it will be much worse than telling her now.
Jack looks into her eyes as he talks, “Janet, there is something I need to tell you. It is about the morning that you called and Vicky answered the phone. God I don’t know where to start.”
“What are you trying to tell me Jack?”
“Well, I know that there is no excuse for what happened, but..”
“Jack, what happened between you and Vicky? I want to know the truth.”
“I swear that it won’t happen again. I told her it was a mistake. You have to believe me Janet, it is you that I love not her. Please believe that. Janet, I slept with her that night..”
Janet’s eyes fill with tears. She knows that Jack loves her, but the thought of him with Vicky again broke her heart. She spoke the words that broke her heart as well as Jack’s
“Please leave Jack, this is too much for me right now. I can’t…” She broke into tears and Jack tried to comfort her. She pushed him away and told him “Don’t touch me.”
Even though Janet’s heart was breaking as she said the words she didn’t mean, she refused to back down. “I need time to think Jack. Please go now.” Crying she went to her bedroom and broke down.
Not too happy with this chapter... Please read and let me know how i did...

Jack was standing at the door of Janet’s room listening to her sob her heart out. It sounded like her heart was breaking. With each sound his heart broke it smaller and smaller pieces. He wished he never would have told her. Even though he knew he needed to be honest with her it was the hardest thing he had ever had to do. He wished he could replay the last 5 minutes of his life and take back the words that had hurt her so. Would she ever be able to forgive him?
Janet was laying on her bed when she felt the first labor pain hit. She was glad she was laying down because it was so strong she would have fell had she been standing. She walked out into the kitchen and saw Jack standing by the front door. She was still angry at him, but she needed his help right now. The baby was coming and there was no way she would be able to get herself to the hospital.
“Ow! Jack I am going into labor.”
Jack looked stunned, but he led her to the car. “Which way to the hospital?”
“Go to the end of the street and make a left.” Janet was having trouble concentrating. All she could think about was the tremendous amount of pain she was in. Jack was driving like a mad man. All he wanted was to get Janet to the hospital.
Once they arrived at the hospital Jack helped her out of the car. She had to stop because she was doubled over in pain. God this hurt so much. This was the worst amount of pain she had ever been in. She was beginning to wonder if she could stand it. Once inside the hospital they were rushed to the front desk.
A stuffy clerk was sitting at the desk. “Name?”
“I am Jack Tripper, this is Wood Janet.”
Janet smiled thru her pain and corrected Jack “I am Janet Wood.”
“Ah, Ms. Wood, we have you registered. I will call the orderly to wheel you back. Mr. Tripper, you can wait in the waiting room.”
Michelle

With that they wheeled Janet into a room and Jack was left waiting in the waiting room. Janet was laying on the bed in pain. A thousand thoughts were running thru her mind. Probably to the most important was that she still loved Jack. She was so sorry for the words that she had said to him earlier. She wanted to take the words back and tell him that they could work thru this. She loved him so much. She just needed to find the words to tell him.
Jack was sitting in the waiting room. He was pacing the floor. How had he made such a mess out of the whole situation? What he wanted most was to be in the room with Janet. He wanted to help her thru the birth of her baby. God, he screwed up in the worst way. They would all be better off if he left and went back to Santa Monica.
Suddenly a nurse came out looking for Jack.
“Mr. Tripper?”
“Yes, that’s me.”
“Mr. Tripper, she is asking for you. She is very weak and the labor is progressing very slowly. The doctor is concerned about her and the baby. Please follow me.”
Jack walks down what seems like the longest hallway in the world. They get to a room where Jack can hear the sound of Janet screaming from the pain of labor.
“Janet, I am here honey.”
“Oh Jack, I can’t do this anymore. It hurts so much. Please make it stop.”
“Janet honey, I can’t make it stop. Just think about what it means in the end. You will have a beautiful baby.”
She started breathing harder as another labor pain racked her body. She shouted at the top of her lungs. “I’m so sorry Jack; I didn’t mean what I said about never wanting to see you again. I love you so much. Owwwww!!”
“Janet, you had every right to be mad at me. Don’t think about that right now honey. Just concentrate on bringing this little one into the world.
After a long labor they finally wheeled Janet into the delivery room, by this time she was totally exhausted. Her hair was wet from sweating so much. The doctor came into the room and checked Janet.
“Well, Janet, it looks like you are ready to bring this little one into the world. A few good pushes should do it.”
Janet was so glad that Jack was there for her. He held her hand while she bore down during the worst pains. He spoke soft words to her to encourage her. He was a big help to her when she needed him most.
“Ok Janet, the baby is almost here.”
Janet merely looked at him and gave a small smile.
“Ok Janet. Push and keep pushing until I count to 5.”
Janet gave a huge push and held it. It felt like her body was being turned inside out. After 4 or 5 pushes Janet’s baby slid out of her body.
“It’s a girl.”
Janet spoke thru her relief that the pain was over. “A girl, I have a little girl?”
She was beautiful just like her mom was. She had Janet’s hair and eyes. She was going to be a heartbreaker one day.
The doctor turned to Jack and asked if he wanted to cut the cord. Jack responded with “The cord?”
“Yes, come down here and take the scissors and cut the cord. It is simple and painless.”
Jack walked to the end of the bed and started take the scissors from the doctor’s outstretched hand when he spotted the little girl. His queasy stomach took over and he was on the ground. Jack Tripper had fainted.
Janet smiled and groaned. The man definitely had a weak stomach.
The doctor then took the baby and handed her to Janet. Janet was crying. She looked at the little miracle she had created. All the hard times during the last 8 months had been worth it. The little girl she held in her arms would always be loved.
Janet was moved to a room and she was deep in thought when the door to her room opened. They were bringing her baby to her. She smiled at the little miracle she had created.
Jack knocks on the hospital room door and hears Janet say “Come in.”
Jack walks in and smiles at Janet. “How do you feel?”
She looks at him and says to him, “Like I have been run over by a truck. Thank you for being there for me Jack. I wanted to tell you I am sorry for saying…”
“Janet, you have nothing to be sorry for. I deserved everything you said to me. I actually deserve more. I have been beating myself up ever since it happened. Janet you have to believe that it will never happen again. I promise. It is you that I love!”
Janet smiled and said “Jack, shut up and just kiss me.”
They kiss and Jack tells Janet there are some things he has to take care of. “Can you spare me for a little while?”
Janet smiles and nods, “I think I can manage for a little while.”
He walks and stares into the nursery window. He knows this isn’t his child, but he couldn’t love her any more if she was.
“Daddy can you see me?” By Anita Cochran is playing in the background. It seems fitting for this moment.
Momma gives birth to a little child,
Daddy waits, with a patient smile.
They tell him what he's brought into the world,
They all can tell she'll be a daddy's girl.
He hears a voice as she starts to cry,
He looks through the window tears fall from his eyes,
Overwhelmed with the thoughts of the day,
He swears he hears her say
Daddy can you see me?
Daddy can you hear the words I say?
I've got your hands
Your eyes and your hair
And this thing you call a teddy bear.
I'll do what I can to make you proud,
Daddy can you see me now?
He takes me fishing like I'm one of the guys
No one can break these ties that bind.
We've got a bond that's precious and dear,
And it's stayed the same through all these years.
As I get older and time goes by,
He's got a shoulder if I need to cry,
And when I think that I'm going O.K.,
I look at him and say
Daddy can you see me?
Daddy can you hear the words I say?
I've got your hands
Your eyes and your hair
And I still hold on to my teddy bear.
I'll do what I can to make you proud,
Daddy can you see me now?
I look to the heavens for some kind of sign,
For you to tell me that I'm doing fine.
And every night when I kneel down to pray,
I wonder if you hear me say
Daddy can you see me?
Daddy can you hear the words I say?
My life has changed since you went away
And I need to know if I'm doing O.K.
I've done all I can to make you proud
Daddy can you see me now?
Oh I've done all I can to make you proud,
Daddy can you see me now?
It’s almost as if Jack can look into the future and see her growing up. He has tears in his eyes as he walks out of the hospital.

Terri called Larry and invited him over for dinner. She was going to have a romantic candlelight dinner and tell him how she felt about him. Too much time had passed. If she didn’t tell him how she felt tonight she might never have the chance. She decided that for once in her life she was going to take a chance on love. Larry arrived early for dinner. She couldn’t believe how handsome he was. Her heart skipped a beat seeing him in the doorway smiling. She brought him a drink and they sat on the couch talking. Terri decides that now is the perfect time. The worst he can do is tell her that he doesn’t feel the same. It would break her heart, but she needed to know.
“Larry, I need to tell you something. I know that we have known each other for a long time. I wanted to say that, um, well you see..”
Larry smiles and looks deep into her eyes “Tell me Terri, what did you want to say.”
Terri smiles and says “I love you. There I said it.”
Larry smiles and looks at her “I love you to. I think I have always loved you.”
With that they share a deep earth shattering kiss.
Larry breaks free and whispers “Suddenly I’m not very hungry.”
“Me either.”
Scene ends with them holding each other and smiling.
Terri is floating on air and smiling as she remembers the night before. They spent the night talking and kissing, mostly kissing. How do you explain the rush of feeling that came out? They stopped short of making love. They wanted to take things slow and explore their new found love for each other. Terri secretly hoped she didn’t have to wait too long. Smiling she drove the kids to daycare and started off to work.
Janet was released from the hospital 2 days after the baby was born. She needed to have a talk with Jack. She wanted to go home. Home to Santa Monica, now that the baby was here she was ready. She knew Jack would be happy.
Jack had called Terri and Larry after the baby was born and gave them the good news. Mother and daughter were doing fine. They were excited to hear that the baby was finally here. Terri asked when they were coming home. Jack didn’t know the answer to that one. He hoped it was soon. Just in case he asked Terri to get the baby’s room ready. She said she would be glad to do it.
Janet and Jack sat down to talk one night after she had gotten the baby to sleep.
“Jack, I want to go home. I miss my life in California. I miss Terri and I even miss Larry.”
“Janet, are you sure? I mean, I know that there are a lot of bad memories there.”
“Jack, yes there are bad memories there, but we can make new memories, happy memories. Jack I am ready. I want to go back.”
“Oh Janet, I want to live to make you happy.”
Jack pulls out something that he had bought about two months ago. It was one of the things he was working on. It is an engagement ring.
He gets down on one knee and hold the ring out to her and says “Janet Wood, would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”
“Oh Jack!!” She has tears in her eyes as she nods.
“Janet, I might not be the perfect husband, and I might do things to mess up now and then, but Janet I will always love you and your daughter. I will always try to make you proud of me. I love you!”
“I love you too Jack. Let’s go home.”
So with that they proceeded to pack up Janet’s small apartment. They were driving back so it took them about 3 days to get back to Santa Monica. When they arrived at Jack’s place he had a surprise waiting for Janet.
They walked in and in Jack’s living room were Larry, Terri and Terri’s children. They were all extremely excited to see Janet again. Especially Terri, she rushed over to Janet and gave her a huge hug.
“It is so good to see you again!! I have missed you so much!!”
“I’ve missed you too Terri!! It so good to see you again!!”
“Let me see the baby. What is her name?”
She looks at Jack and smiles “I guess you forgot to tell her the baby’s name.”
“Yeah, I did.”
“Well, her name is Morgan Ann Wood.”
“That is a beautiful name for a beautiful baby. She is adorable.”
“Thanks Terri, I hope I don’t seem rude, but I am extremely tired. I need to put Morgan down for a nap and get some sleep myself.”
Terri, Larry and Jack smile at each other as Jack shows Janet where she can put the baby. She walks in and her mouth drops open.
“You guys did all this?”
“Well Larry and I did. Jack called us to let us know you and the baby and were coming home so we decided to decorate the room.”
“Yeah, we would have been done sooner, but her pickiness had me redo the curtains four times. They looked fine the first time.”
“Ok Larry, lets not entertain them with our story right now.” She smiles and kisses him deeply.
Larry smiles and nods “Yes dear.”
They all laugh and Janet puts the baby in her crib and goes to take a nap. The three friends are chatting as the scene ends.

This is such a good story!! I'm glad love prevailed through it all--- and I'm sooo sooo happy Terri got Larry :D How cute is that?! And little Morgan must be so precious-- just like her Mommy ;) (We'll exclude Phillip's share in that gene pool).

Terri is getting ready for another date with Larry. She can’t believe that she is actually dating Larry. She is wearing a beautiful light blue off the shoulder dress. She is beautiful. Her stomach has a million butterflies in it. The kids are with their dad and she is hoping tonight will turn out like she is hoping.
Larry takes her to an exclusive restaurant. He had to make reservation weeks in advance. He is hoping Terri likes it. She deserves the best her can give her. He has never felt this way about another woman. Who would have thought that she would feel the same way about him?
They have finished their meal and the music is playing. Larry feels that this song fits the moment so he asks Terri to dance with him. Elton John’s “The way you look tonight.”
There was a time
I was everything and nothing all in one
When you found me
I was feeling like a cloud across the sun
I need to tell you
How you light up every second of the day
But in the moonlight
You just shine like a beacon on the bay
And I can't explain
But it's something about the way you look tonight
Takes my breath away
It's that feeling I get about you, deep inside
And I can't describe
But it's something about the way you look tonight
Takes my breath away
The way you look tonight
With a smile
You pull the deepest secrets from my heart
In all honesty
I'm speechless and I don't know where to start
And I can't explain
But it's something about the way you look tonight
Takes my breath away
It's that feeling I get about you, deep inside
And I can't describe
But it's something about the way you look tonight
Takes my breath away
The way you look tonight
By the end of the song they are kissing and Terri asks Larry
“Spend the night with me tonight. Please?”
“Are you sure?”
“I have never been more sure of anything in my life. I love you.”
They kiss and the scene ends.
Terri wakes up the next morning and Larry is in bed with her. She smiles as she remembers the night before. He was such an attentive lover. He found a thousand ways to please her last night. Each one more intoxicating than the one before, she swore that she saw stars a few times. He made sure she was completely satisfied before he allowed himself to be satisfied. That was something new to Terri. She’d had many lovers in the past, each one only concerned with themselves. Larry was like a breath of fresh air. With all his macho bravado who would have thought that he would have been so good and bringing her pleasure. With that Terri proceeded to kiss him. He awoke and kissed her deeply.
“Morning beautiful, sleep well?”
“Like a baby. Thank you for a wonderful night Larry. I haven’t felt so loved in a long time.”
The kissed again and as the scene ends we can hear the sounds of lovemaking.

Here is the latest. Not sure how I like it.
Jack was due to meet with the lawyer today. He was nervous about it. He had no idea what to expect. He was going thru so many emotions that he was a nervous wreck. Would he be a good father? He didn’t know the first thing about raising a child. Janet tried to convince him that no one is ready no matter how long they have to prepare.
Jack walks up to the lawyer’s office. Vicky is waiting for him. She has lost a lot of weight and her eyes look sad. He could tell that she was in a lot of pain. A part of him felt sorry for her. She was so young to be going thru all of this. He knew that he would do his best to keep her memory alive.
“Mr. Tripper, we are her to discuss the custody arrangements for Andrew Bradford. Ms. Bradford, is it your wish that Mr. Tripper take custody of him when you pass away?”
Vicky smiled and spoke the hardest words she had ever said “Yes, those are my wishes.”
After a few brief legal issues were worked out, Jack signed about a dozen different forms. As they were leaving Vicky spoke briefly to Jack.
“Jack, I just wanted to let you know that I am so sorry for everything. Believe me, I never meant to hurt you. I just…”
“Vicky lets forget about the past. What is important is the future. We need to focus on the present. Promise me one thing?”
“What is that Jack?”
“Please call me when it is getting close to the en…. I can’t even say the words.”
“I understand Jack. I will call you. Hey I want to say goodbye to that handsome face.” She smiled softly and walked away.
Jack looked after her and felt a lump forming in his throat. He loved Janet now, but Vicky would always hold a place in his heart.
Walking up the steps to his place he smiled as he saw Janet waiting on the front porch for him. She was smiling and holding Morgan. She was now almost a month old.
“So, how did it go?”
“About as good as can be expected, it still seems so unreal. I can’t believe that this is happening. I mean who would have thought that she would be dying so youn….”
With that Jack broke down crying. Janet understood why he was so emotional. Surprisingly she had no jealousy towards Vicky. She felt sorry for a boy that was loosing his mom. Now that she was a mom she could see it from that point of view. It didn’t make it easier, just different.
“Jack, is she going to call you when it, um gets close to the end? If she does I want to be with you. I want to help you and support you thru this.”
Jack smiled at Janet “You are something else. Have I told you how much I love you?”
Janet smiled “Not in that past 10 minutes, nope you didn’t.”
“I love you.”
They smiled and kissed. Scene ends.
Janet is sitting in the kitchen reading the paper. Morgan is sleeping and Jack went to the Bistro. Suddenly there is a knock on the door. Janet gets up to answer it. She is surprised to find Vicky standing on the other side of the door.
“Vicky? Um, if your looking for Jack he is at work.”
“Actually it is you that I want to talk to.”
Janet is apprehensive but lets her in the house.
“Janet, can we sit down?”
“Sure, lets go into the living room.”
They walk into the living room and have a seat.
“Janet, I want you to know a few things about Andrew. I want to make sure that I leave him in good hands and I…”
Janet senses that she needs a good cry and hands her a box of tissues.
“Thanks, all I seem to be able to do lately is cry. I just can’t help thinking how unfair all of this is. I mean, he is only barely 3. It doesn’t seem like nearly enough time. I just wanted to let you know. Well, he likes vegetables. He is afraid of the dark and he loves “Goodnight Moon””
Janet smiles and says the only thing she can think of “Vicky, please know that I will do everything in my power to keep your memory alive. I won’t try to replace you as his mom. I will let him know how much you loved him and that you tried to do the best for him.”
Somehow that seems to be just what Vicky needed to hear. “One more thing, I have a diary that I have kept since the day I found out I was pregnant. I would like to give it to you. Men don’t understand this type of thing. I have written in it every day since then. When he is old enough, please give it to him.”
With that they hug and she leaves. Janet feels emotionally drained and needs to take a nap.

Anyway here is a short chapter!!
Larry was getting ready for the most important date of his life. He was going to ask Terri something that would change their lives forever. He was going to ask Terri to marry him. He was hoping she would say yes, but he was afraid that she would say no. Especially after her disastrous marriage. He had come to realize that he loved her more that he ever thought possible and he wanted to have her by his side for the rest of his life. If only she could learn to trust again. They were going for dinner and then out dancing.
“Are you all ready to go honey?”
Terri looks around and notices that the kids are in the other room with the sitter. She goes in and kisses them. She walks out to where Larry is standing and takes his arm. She smiles and him and walks with him to his car. He opens the door and waits for her to get in.
They make small talk on the way to dinner. Terri notices that Larry isn’t talking much during dinner. She does wonder what is up with that. She doesn’t say anything, but she is wondering what is up with him. She is hoping that he isn’t having second thoughts about their relationship. She is falling more in love with him with each passing day. Was that actually possible? She found a man that had been in her life for so long. Could he possibly be the love of her life? How had she missed it all those years ago? Could the heartbreak that was her marriage have been avoided if she would have realized her feelings for Larry? She wouldn’t trade the time with her ex for anything. She had 3 wonderful children that she wouldn’t trade for anything, but what had she missed out on all these years. If only she had seen what kind of man Larry was. She would never know what could have been. She could only change what would be in the future.
After dinner Larry ordered dessert. Terri was so stuffed that she didn’t think she would be able to eat anything else. Larry had arranged to have a special dessert brought out. On the plate was a little black box. It was surrounded by small cheesecakes. Terri saw the box and her heart stopped. She looked at Larry with wondering eyes.
Larry proceeded to get out of his seat and kneel before her “Terri, I love you more than I ever thought possible. Would you marry me?”
Terri looked at Larry and her voice was full of emotion as she answered him. “Yes, I love you Larry!”
Larry was smiling from ear to ear as he stood up and kissed Terri. As they walked out of the restaurant he felt as if he was walking on air.

The end was drawing near for Vicky. She could feel herself getting weaker and weaker. Everyday it felt like she was slipping further and further away from life. She needed to call Jack and tell him that it was just a matter of time. She hoped that he would help Andrew understand. She had tried telling him. He didn’t understand though. He kept asking her if she was going to bring him a present back. Each time he asked her that, it broke her heart. She hoped that Jack and Janet had more luck at helping him understand that she wouldn’t be coming back. Janet, she wanted to get rid of the tape that she made. She hated herself for doing that to Jack. She saw now that Jack really loved Janet. Janet deserved more than that.
“Who You Are” By Erica Jo
Oh, beautiful child, you've got a garden of time waiting for you
There are fields full of wonder for you to uncover out there
I want to be here to watch you change and grow and fly
Your future is as open as the big blue sky and
Who you are is something you gotta find out for yourself
And your life belongs to just you and nobody else
Live your dreams and follow your heart
You'll find out who you are
Oh, sweet angel child, your spirit's as wild as a stallion
Your innocence is like a blanket of fresh white snow
You'll make mistakes, but don't be afraid to take your chance
Just believe in yourself and you'll make your own path
Who you are is something you gotta find out for yourself
And your life belongs to just you and nobody else
Live your dreams and follow your heart
You'll find out who you are
And I wish I could be the angel beside you that guides you (that guides you)
Oh, I wish I could show you the way, but I know I gotta let you go and
Who you are is something you gotta find out for yourself
And your life belongs to just you and nobody else
Live your dreams and follow your heart
You'll find out who you are
Oh, sweet angel child
Beautiful child
Who you are
She reached for the phone so that she could call Jack. The time was drawing near and she had promised him that she would call.
“Hello?”
“Janet? Is Jack there?”
“No, he is at the Bistro. Did you need something?”
“I need you and him to come. There isn’t much time. Please hurry.”
Janet raced to the Bistro. She must have broken every speed limit to get there. She rushed into the restaurant and found Jack in the kitchen.
“Jack, we have to go now. Vicky called. She needs us now.”
Jack looked pale and Janet reached out to steady him.
“Come on Jack. This is it. We have to hurry.”
They raced to Vicky’s house and rushed up the steps and into her house. The doctor was there when they came in. Andrew was sitting on the bed next to Vicky. He looked scared and lost. He didn’t understand what was going on. Janet had Morgan with her and was having a hard time keeping from crying.
“Andrew? I am your daddy’s friend. Would you like to help me feed the baby? We can go sit on the couch and you can hold her and give her a bottle.”
Andrew looked at Vicky. She smiled weakly and nodded. Andrew hopped off the bed and walked with Janet into the other room. When they were alone Vicky spoke to Jack.
“Jack, I just wanted to tell you again how sorry I am for the mess I made of all of our lives. If only I had told you about him sooner….”
“Vicky, what’s done is done. We can’t go back and change anything. We have to live with what is right now.”
Jack took her hand and they stared at each other for a few seconds. Vicky was in a lot of pain and it was getting worse by the minute. There wasn’t much that could be done to stop the pain. When she spoke it was with tears in her eyes and pain in her voice.
“Jack, I know this is the end. I am going to ask you to take Andrew home with you tonight. I don’t want him to watch me like this. He needs his father right now. Jack, please help him understand that I love him. He thinks I am going away on a trip. I have tried to tell him that I am going to be with the angels, but he is so young he….”
Jack nodded and said “Vicky, Janet and I will be there for him, she is really wonderful.”
“I know Jack. There is something I want you to do for me. There is a package in my top dresser drawer. Can you get it for me?”
When Jack had the package, she said “Now take it and burn it. Don’t let anyone see it. It was a mistake and I should have gotten rid of it right away. Promise me that you will destroy it Jack?”
“What is it?”
“It doesn’t matter now. Just know that it needs to be destroyed.”
“I promise you! I will destroy it.”
“Jack, I want you to know that I have always loved you. In spite of everything, I hope you and Janet are happy together. Please make Andrew feel welcome into your family. I love you Jack.”
With that Vicky slipped into a coma. She passed away 3 days later. The funeral was a small one. Only Jack and Janet were there. It was sad really. Such a loss of life, she was so young and had so much to live for. Janet stood before her grave and made her a promise that she intended to keep.
“Vicky, please know that I will keep the promise I made to you. I will love Andrew as if he were my son. I love Jack and we will do everything we can to bring him up to be a fine man. Rest in peace Vicky.”
As always reviews are much welcomed.......

Jack didn’t know why, but his heart felt like breaking. He was in love with Janet and they were going to be married, but he supposed that Vicky would always hold a special place in his heart. They did have a son together and they had a past that couldn’t be erased by time and space. He was going to do everything that he could to make sure Andrew grew up to be a man his mom would be proud of. He knew that if he and Janet tried they could be proud of each of their children. With love and patience all is possible.
“Something worth leaving behind” By Leann Womack.
Hey Mona Lisa, who was Leonardo?
Was he Andy Warhol?
Were you Marilyn Monroe
Hey Mozart, what kind of name is Amadeus
It's kinda like Elvis
You gotta die to be famous
I may not go down in history
I just want someone to remember me
I'll probably never hold a brush
that paints a masterpiece
Probably never find a pen
that writes a symphony
But if I will love then I will find
That I have touched another life
And that's something
Something worth leaving behind
Hey Midas you say you have the magic touch
But even all that shiny stuff
Someday is gonna turn to dust
Hey Jesus it must have been some Sunday morning
In a blaze of glory
We're still tellin' your story
I may not go down in history
I just want someone to remember me
I'll probably never dream a dream
and watch it turn to gold
I know I'll never lose my life
to save another soul
But, if I will love then I will find
That I have touched another life
And that's something
Something worth leaving behind
Hey baby see the future that we're building
Our love lives on in the lives of our children
That's something
Something worth leaving behind
I'll probably never dream a dream
and watch it turn to gold
I know I'll never lose my life
to save another soul
But, if I will love then I will find
That I have touched another life
And that's something
Something worth leaving behind
Something worth leaving behind
Something worth leaving behind
He would do everything he knew how to make his son proud of him. He hoped that he could be a good dad. He had a feeling that he would. With Janet’s help they would make it.
Janet was falling in love with Andrew more every day. Vicky had been gone almost a month and she was still amazed at how much he was like Jack. He was like a little version of his dad. He had a lot of his sense of humor. He could also make Janet laugh when she felt like crying. He would look at her with his big blue eyes and her heart would melt. She loved this little boy so much that it was hard to remember a time before he came to live with them. Terri and Janet were busy planning for their weddings. They had decided to have a double wedding and the guys were thrilled about that.
Jack still hadn’t gotten rid of the tape that Vicky had given him. He didn’t know why, but he couldn’t throw it away. He hadn’t watched it though. He left it sitting in his sock drawer. Janet was putting away his socks after doing the laundry. She saw the tape and unfortunately curiosity got the better of her. She decided to watch it. If Jack had it then it must be something ok to watch.
So, she got a drink and popped the video into the VCR. Static filled the screen for a few seconds and suddenly the screen was filled with a scene that Janet never should have witnessed. She saw in living color every second of Jack’s night with Vicky. She heard Vicky call out Jack’s name. Her voice was full of passion. What hit Janet the hardest was when she heard Jack.
“I love you Vicky.” Then he moaned and kissed Vicky passionately. He lowered her onto the bed and proceeded to kiss every inch of Vicky’s body. Janet knew she should turn off the TV and not watch anymore, but she was frozen and couldn’t move. Her hand wouldn’t work to use the remote. She cried silently as she watched every minute of the video. She was still sitting in the same place when Jack came home that afternoon for lunch. Her face was red from crying and the TV was static. Jack took one look at Janet and knew that something was wrong.
“Janet honey what’s wrong?”
“Don’t you honey me, you are a pig. I hate you. How could you do it Jack? I thought you said it was a mistake? Why did you record it? So you could live it over and over again?”
“Okay, at the risk of making you mad I am going to ask. What in the world are you talking about?”
“Like you don’t know, I am going to our room. Here is the remote, have fun reliving that night over and over.”
She threw the remote at him and walked out of the room. Jack was more puzzled than ever and rewound the tape. He pushed play and what he saw made his blood run cold. He had forgotten all about the tape and the promise that he made Vicky. God, why didn’t he burn that damn tape like Vicky asked him too. God, Janet was right to be mad at him. He was mad at himself. He walked into their room to try and talk to her. She was curled up into a ball on the bed.
“Honey, you have to know that I didn’t make that tape. Vicky gave it to me that night we went over there. She asked me to burn it. I was so upset that I totally forgot about it. You have to believe me. I wouldn’t lie to you about something like this.’
Janet remained silent. He didn’t like the silence. So he reached out his hand to her and rubbed her back. She was crying but didn’t pull away. He laid down beside her and held her while she cried.
After she was done crying she looked at Jack and said “I believe you. It just hurt to see it all there in living color. I love you Jack. Nothing will ever change that.”
Jack smiled at her and they kiss as the scene ends.

A month passed and Jack, Janet, Larry and Terri were getting ready for their weddings. It was the night before and Janet was spending the night at Terri’s house. They would be getting married in her backyard and they were both very nervous.
The next day dawned bright and sunny. Janet and Terri were up with the crack of dawn. They had each chosen a simple gown. They each looked simply beautiful. Jack and Larry were dressed in black tuxedos.
Fast forward 5 hours. The guests have all arrived and they are seated in the backyard. The wedding march played and they said their vows. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as four souls became two. Four households joined together in love and commitment.
They wrote their own vows.
Terri-
“Larry it took us so long to find each other. I love you with all my heart and soul. I can’t wait to grow old with you and watch our children grow up. I will always love you. I promise to give all my love to you. We have been down many roads. It took a few broken hearts and some time, but we finally found each other. I love you Larry Dallas and I will spend the rest of my life showing you just how much I do love you.”
“Terri, how can I find the words to express how much I love you? You found me when I was lost. You make me want to be a better person. Every time I see you smile my heart sings. I feel like I can move mountains for you. I love your children and look forward to having more with you. Terri, you complete me. You have made me see what I have been missing all my life. I will live my life for you. I will live to make you proud of me.”
Jack and Janet were next.
“Jack, who would have thought all those years ago we would end up here? I love you with all my heart and soul. You have shown me how much you love me. I want to raise out children together. I am proud to stand here before our family and friends and declare my love for you. Jack, you are everything I have ever wanted in a man. I love you.”
“Janet, I can only say that I love you. I am the happiest man alive. I will always love you and do everything I can to show my love for you.”
The only song I can think of for here is the song “After All” by Cher
Well here we are again
I guess it must be fate
We’ve tried it on our own
But deep inside we’ve known
We’d be back to set things straight
I still remember when
Your kiss was so brand new
Every memory repeats
Every step I take retreats
Every journey always
Brings me back to you
Chorus:
After all the stops and starts
We keep coming back to these two hearts
Two angels who’ve been rescued from the fall
And after all that we’ve been through
It all comes down to me and you
I guess it’s meant to be
Forever you and me
After all
When love is truly right
This time it’s truly right
It lives from year to year
It changes as it grows
And oh the way it grows
But it never disappears
Chorus
Always just beyond my touch
Though I needed you so much
After all what else is living for
Whoa
Chorus x 2
As always reviews are much appreciated and welcome.
Ok, there is one more chapter left. It will be done as a fast forward type of thing. Done thru the years of their lives together. What will the future bring?

Fast forward 4 years-
Morgan was 4 and Andrew was 7. They were just like a typical brother and sister. They fought like crazy, but no one had better mess with the other one. Andrew was especially protective of his little sister. One time they were at the playground and a bigger kid had said something to make Morgan cry. Andrew walked over to him and pushed him and said "That's my sister! Leave her alone!!" Jack and Janet laughed at that one.
Speaking of Jack and Janet. A lot had happened in the past 4 years. Janet had adopted Andrew and Jack adopted Morgan. Andrew had taken to calling Janet mom. Morgan called Jack dad. They definitely had a perfect family. When Janet thought back on the past she had to smile. Who would have thought all those years ago that they would be together. Much less have a perfect family. Janet had a surprise to tell Jack. She whispered it into his ear one night "I'm pregnant Jack."
Jack was stunned. They hadn't been trying, but this made their circle complete. They were finally having a child together."I'm so happy Janet!!"
They told the kids and in typical fashion for children Morgan said "I hope it's a girl!"
Which made Andrew say "I hope it's a boy!!"
Jack and Janet couldn't help but laugh....
Terri was pregnant again. Terri had given birth to 2 more children in the past 4 years. Each time she swore that would be the last. Larry told her that whatever she wanted to do was fine with him. He loved all of their children. He was also a wonderful father. He was very patient with the kids and made sure that he listened to all of them. The house got very noisy at night. They had 5 kids. Two of them were under 4. This would make number six. Terri swore that she was done after this one. Larry just smiled as he kissed her goodnight....

8 Years after the wedding-
Jack and Janet were celebrating their 8th wedding anniversary. They had went out to dinner with Larry and Terri. It was the first time in a long time that they had went to dinner without the kids. Larry and Terri had a total of 7 children between them. Terri had finally said enough after their last son was born. Terri's oldest son Ryan was 13, Amanda was 12, Bethany was 10, Stephen was 7, Matthew was 5, Stephanie was 2 and the baby Eric was 4 months old.
Jack and Janet had 5 children. Andrew was 11, Morgan had just turned 8, Brianna was 4, Erica was 2 and the baby Michael was 6 months.
The two couples had bought houses close to each other. It seemed like almost every weekend they were at each other's houses. During the summer months, there were endless pool parties and sleepovers. Not to mention the dinners they shared. There was endless laughter and fun at both households. Needless to say, with all the children there was never a dull moment. The houses were filled with noise and fun. The Dallas and Tripper households were very active and lively. No one could say that they were lacking for anything. Especially love. Terri, Larry, Jack and Janet couldn't love each other more if they were related by blood.
The kids all looked out for each other. Especially the boys. Andrew was growing up to look just like Jack. He was tall with sandy blond hair. Morgan was the spitting image of Janet. All in all the Janet and Jack considered themselves two of the luckiest people on earth.
Terri and Larry felt the same way. Larry couldn't believe how much he enjoyed being a father and husband. Terri would joke with him at times about how he was a natural father. He always knew how to get the kids to behave. It was almost magical to watch him with the children.....
Life was truly wonderful for both families.... And it was only going to get better....

15 years after the wedding-
Janet and Jack couldn't stop smiling. Today was the day they had been looking forward to for 13 years. Andrew was graduating from high school. He was near the top of his class. Janet couldn't have been prouder if she had given birth to him. Today was a day that she had looked forward to for a long time. It was finally time to keep a promise that she had made to Vicki all those years ago. Andrew rememebered his mom. He asked about her often. Today was a day they wouldn't forget. Janet held a journal close to her heart. She smiled and watched her son walk across the stage. Her whole family was there. Terri, Larry and their children were there. It was truly a family event. They cheered louder than anyone at the school. Finally they went back to their house. Janet pulled Andrew aside and started talking. This was the hardest thing she had ever done. She had to stop a few times to regain her composure. Andrew took her hand and said "Mom, whatever it is, just say it...."
Janet smiled and said "Oh, Andrew, you always know when to say the right things. Well, here goes. Andrew, before your mom died she gave me something for you. She asked me to give it to you when you were older. You dad and I decided to wait until you finished school."
With that Janet took the journal and handed it to Andrew. He simply looked at it and smiled. He replied "Mom, I'm not sure...."
"Honey, just read it. She wanted you to have it."
"Have you..."
Janet shook her head "I never read it. It was something for you from her. It wouldn't..."
With that Janet walked out of the room and left Andrew sitting on the bed. He took a deep breath and opened the journal. The pages had yellowed with age, but were still in good condition. He opened to the first page and started reading....
My dearest Andrew,
I am writing this to tell you about me. I want you to know that I was so pround to be your mom. I hope your life has been a good one. The only regret that I have is that I wasn't there to see you grow into a young man. I know that your dad loves you and will make sure you have a good life.
He smiled at that sentance. He had a wonderful life. Dad and mom had made sure that he never lacked for anything. Especially love.
He went back to the pages and read about his early childhood. Then he read about how his mom fought the cancer that racked her body. She wanted more than anything to win that battle. However, it wasn't meant to be. She told him that she was going to watch over him in heaven and that she would always be his special angel. He cried when he read that. Dad had always told him that he had an angel watching over him. The last entry was probably more moving than any that went before it.
Andrew, Please don't let this change your love for Janet. I know that she is an easy person to love. I believe that your dad has always loved her. They were meant to be together. She is his soulmate. She will be a good mom to you and she will love you with all her heart. She is a kind and gentle person. She is truly a gift from above.
Andrew was crying at the end of the journal. He held it close to him and went to find his parents. Janet was sitting on the couch. She was afraid to look at him. So, she merely looked at her hands. Andrew approached them and said "Mom, dad?"
"Yes, son?"
"Andy!"
Andrew laughed Janet had never really liked to call him Andrew unless he was in trouble. He smiled and said "I will always love you guys!! Thank you for giving me this!! It answered so many questions!"
Janet smiled softly and he pulled her close for a hug. He said simply "Thanks mom! For everything!! You are the best!!"
Janet's heart melted and they hugged. Jack stood near and had tears in his eyes. Terri and Larry were also misty eyed......

24 years after the wedding-
There was another wedding on the horizon. Janet and Terri were sitting in the church pew. They were holding each other's hands and they were crying. Even though it was a happy day their emotions were running high. At the entrance to the church you see the bride and her father. She is dressed in a lovely white gown. It has a long train and a lacey veil. As they get closer we see that it is Morgan and Jack. She is getting married to Terri's oldest son Ryan.
Ryan had went away to college. When he came back Morgan was just starting college. They started dating and fell in love. She was a teacher at a local elementary. Ryan was a lawyer. They made a lovely couple.
When they reached the end of the aisle there wasn't a dry eye in the church. Jack lifted her veil and kissed her on the cheek. She whispered to him "I love you Daddy." He smiled and had to swallow a lump in his throat. Jack and Janet had never been happier or prouder of her than they were at that moment. Their lives had come full circle. They were sure they could feel the presence of angels that day. Life has a way of leaving you with a feeling of happiness. Who's to say what anyone's life holds. Jack and Janet took a chance on love all those years ago. They held each other's hands and smiled as their daughter married her true love. Janet only hoped that Morgan's life would be filled with as much love and happiness as her's had been. Since she made her escape all those years ago and fell in love with the wonderful man sitting beside her now.
