I won't do it... Laverne & Shirley have run their course... it's time to let the premise die and just accept that it was once a good show. Those episodes we do have are beautiful and priceless, and any new movies would simply cheapen their value to me. Besides, they'd get Penny Marshall and her new buddy Rosie O'Donnel to play the roles, and that would be sad.

Also, I know how Hollywood works... the current trend is to "update" the situations, and I do not want to see L&S brought into the year 2000. The show was at it's best when they tried to remember that the setting was supposed to be in the 50's or early 60's.

Some sitcom's just arent' ready for movie treatment, and L&S is one of them (others that come immediately to mind are Happy Days, Perfect Strangers, and Welcome Back Kotter). So let's just not try to get a movie done, okay? Leave it be...

I agree with Silentbri. It was bad enough to move them out to California after a few seasons. SOme of the episodes were really good, but they completely dropped the 50's/ EARLY 60's idea and suddenly it was 1965. And when Cindy Williams left, they should've ended it right there. Even if they did make the movie, they'd probably get people like Michelle Pfeiffer and Courtney Cox to play the parts, not keep any of the original cast members. This show is way too good to have a movie.

If they did make a movie (heaven forbid!), then I think they would use Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie (assuming they would work together again).

I totally agree! If they did it would have to be Helen Hunt (Laverne) and Holly Hunter (Shirley) Michael Richards would play lenny!!!! And I can't think of anyone weird enough to play Squigy!

The movie that they wanted to make wasn't supposed to be a movie where Laverne and Shirley were the characters, it was supposed to be a sort of what-was-behind-the-scenes film (like the Partridge Family movie, or the Mork and Mindy movie, which actually had two actresses playing Penny and Cindy in it).

As far as actresses go... I can't see anyone too famous in the movie, as they usually pick unknowns for this sort of thing. I'm sure a movie like this would probably ruin their career, lol. I doubt the real people would be in it, especially not Penny and Rosie, since they're not even really friends anymore.

I think it would be interesting, but seeing how other made-for-tv films about classic sitcoms have turned out, I don't think it would be too great. It would probably be very tacky, and I'm sure that there would be a lot of lies and skewing of information. But... who knows what the future will bring? If I had the choice between this movie and seasons 2-8 being released on DVD, I'd DEFINITELY go with the latter!

I don't think there should be a movie either. I can't see anybody else playing these characters as wonderfully as Penny Marshall, Cindy Williams, Michael McKean, David L. Lander, Eddie Mekka, Phil Foster and Betty Garrett played them.

Also, put me down for the rest of the seasons on dvd and a behind-the-scenes movie.
