Chapter 1

Janet Wood pressed the accelerator harder, making her car lurch forward. She had to get to the hospital fast. Her best friend Jack Tripper had been in a car accident and she was desperately trying to get to the hospital to be with him. She flew into a parking space and threw the car into park, jumping out before it had completely stopped. She ran through the door as fast as her legs would carry her. Her other best friend Terri Alden met her at the door.

“How is he Terri?” Janet asked anxiously while trying to catch her breath. “I’m not going to lie to you Janet. It doesn’t look good. He’s suffered a lot of brain damage.” Janet’s heart sank. “Oh my God!” She wailed. “He’s going to live, but the brain damage has slowed his mind down.” Terri answered grimly. “How so?” “Well, Dr. Anderson says that Jack currently has the mind of an eight year old boy. It could be permanent.” Janet slid to the floor in shock. “Jack will need care and supervision around the clock.” Janet thought for a moment. “Terri, you and I could take care of him.” “How Janet? We both work.” “I’m manager now, so I can take time off, and you can help when have the time.” “I suppose so Janet, but I hope you know what you’re getting yourself into. Taking care of an eight year old little boy will be hard work.” Terri eyed her sympathetically. ‘I can do it.’ Janet thought to herself. Just then, Dr. Anderson walked over to them.

“Hello Janet, Terri.” “Hello Dr. Anderson.” The girls replied in unison. “How’s Jack?” Dr. Anderson sighed. “He’s going to be ok, but He doesn’t remember anything, not even who he is. All he knows is that he is eight years old.” Janet’s face fell. “You mean, he won’t recognize us?!” “I’m afraid not, Janet.”

I can see Jack as an eight year old!!! But still I hope he gets better soon!!! This will be an intresting story...reminds me of "A Little Rain Must Fall"! That was such a great story!! I coudl totally see John doing a movie like that and I think if he were still alive that would have been such a cute reunion kinda movie!

I love that fan fiction!!! I think it's my favorite out of all that I've read so far!! And I completely agree with what you said about John doing that in a movie if he were still here. That would of been interesting to see.

Anyway, great job, Lauren!! Poor Jack, I hope things get better for him soon.

Chapter 2

Janet’s heart sank. “Can we see him Doctor?” She asked hesitantly. “I suppose so, just remember to be careful and not upset him, after all he doesn’t know you.” Janet nodded and she and Terri followed Dr. Anderson to Jack’s room.

When they opened the door Jack was sleeping peacefully. He stirred when he heard them come in. “Oh hi Dr. Anderson!” He said happily. “Hello Jack. I have some friends I’d like you to meet. This is Janet Wood and this is Terri Alden. “Hi.” He greeted them with a big smile on his face. “Hi Jack.” They replied in unison. “I’ll leave you alone to get to know each other.” Dr. Anderson said as he left.

After a few moments of silence, Janet finally spoke up. “So Jack, Dr. Anderson tells us that you’re 8 years old.” “That’s right.” He nodded. ‘The doctor was right.’ Janet thought. “Tell me, what do you like to do for fun?” “Well, I like to play basketball with my dad, but my brother Lee always beats me.” He said grimly. Janet and Terri looked at each other and couldn’t help but smile.

“What do you guys do?” He asked curiously. “Well, I work in a flower shop and Terri’s a nurse.” Janet replied. “That’s cool. Do you guys know my parents or something?” Janet looked to Terri for help. “Yes, we’ve met them a few times.” She answered quickly as Janet breathed a sigh of relief. “Do you guys know when they’re coming to pick me up?” He asked. Janet gritted her teeth, not knowing what to say. “Well…You see Jack, you don’t live with your parents, I mean…”

“You live with me & Janet” Terri replied quickly. ’He does?’ Janet mouthed to her. “Janet is your godmother and I’m her best friend. You’ve been living with us for the past couple of years so you could go to school here.” “Oook.” Jack replied in disbelief. “Good one Terri!” Janet whispered sarcastically as she elbowed her friend. “Like you could have done better!” She remarked.

“So, if you’re my godmother, then what do I call you?” he asked Janet curiously. “Umm, you call me…” “Auntie Jan!” Terri piped in. “Auntie who?” Janet yelled at her, she looked over at Jack. “Just call me Janet, ok Jack?” “Ok.” He nodded. “So Janet, when are we going home? I want to get out of this place, I’m bored!” “We can go now if you want.” She answered. “Ok let’s go!” he replied excitedly. He put one hand in Janet’s and the other in Terri’s as they left the hospital.

I've read "A Little Rain Must Fall" too and I have to say that story is great! But I have advice for you: continue this story and put it on fanfiction.net!
