SUMMARY: Haji, king of the Genies/Djinns sends Acadia, the niece of Jeannie Nelson, to break up the marriage between Jeannie and Tony, but things do not go as planned when Acadia falls in love with Major Nelson!

I

Sitting in his tumultuous throne room in Baghdad, Haji, king of all Genies and Djinns, was very perplexed. It had been over a year since his most favorite Genie, Jeannie, had married Anthony Nelson, a mortal male. Since then, there had been countless other Genies who had followed Jeannie’s example by marrying mortals. Haji’s own daughter had been among those Genies.

This had to stop before it got out of hand. Suddenly, a marvelous idea entered Haji’s mind! He leaped out of his throne, and yelled “Acadia!”

Instantly, a very attractive woman popped before Haji. She had red hair, and was wearing a purple harem outfit. The newcomer knelt before Haji.

“At ease, child.” He said. “I have yet another task that I would like for you to perform.”

“What is it?” Acadia queried.

“I assume that you know that your Aunt Jeannie has been married to a mortal for exactly fourteen months?”

“Yes, of course, Haj. Mama told me. She also told me how simply gorgeous Auntie’s husband is.”

Haji glared at her. “I did not bring you hear to discuss that ditsy mother of yours! Anyway, your Aunt’s actions are setting a really bad example for the other Genies. I would like for you to venture into the Nelson home on the pretense that your aunt is to take you in and become your training instructor like she was to my son Harold three years ago.

“While there, you shall have to administer this potion to Jeannie.” Haji opened his hand, and a very compact canteen appeared in his hand. He handed it to Acadia. “This potion, once administered, will slowly drain your Aunt of her powers, which will cause Major Nelson to despise her, and undoubtedly cause her to leave him permanently!”

Both Haji and Acadia commenced to laugh maniacally at this. Then, Haji abruptly ceased laughing, and yelled “Now get out of here, and complete your assignment! I do not have all day you know”

“Right away, Haj!” And Acadia blinked out of the throne room, leaving a very content Haji behind.

II

Jeannie Nelson nervously paced in the living room of her house. She had just been notified by Haji that she would be sent a new Genie to train.

She regretted not telling Anthony about it, but she knew he would not let her train another Genie after the mess that happened three years earlier when she had to train Harold, the awkward son of Haji. But Jeannie figured that if she had to train a new Genie, she would do so, and then have he or she go on their way before Anthony arrived home from work.

While Jeannie was musing, a woman suddenly popped in before her. The resemblance between this woman and Jeannie Nelson was uncanny, except for the newcomer’s red hair and purple harem outfit.

Jeannie was nearly speechless when she saw her. “Acadia!”

“Aunt Jeannie!”

The two Genies embraced. “Oh Auntie! It has been so many centuries since I last saw you! You’re looking marvelous!”

“And so are you, Acadia.” Jeannie said, ceasing embracing her niece. “So, after 2024 years you have finally received your powers. But is that not a rather long time? If I remember correctly, the longest time it has taken a Genie or a Djinn to naturally receive their powers has been fifteen years.”

“Not anymore, Aunt Jeannie.” Acadia said with a smile before quickly changing the subject. “So, when do we start? I have been waiting for this since I began my schooling at the Genie Training Academy.”

“In a moment. Would you like some coffee?”

“That would be nice.”

Right before Jeannie was about to blink the coffee up, Acadia stopped her saying “I’ll get it for us.”

Jeannie shrugged. “Fine with me.”

Acadia then ventured to the kitchen door, but before she opened it, Acadia took one last glance at her aunt, and smiled.

III

Acadia entered the Nelson’s kitchen, and could not control her laughing no longer. “She is more naive than I remember,” Acadia commented to herself. She walked over to the coffee pot where there was just enough coffee left for two cups, then she blinked up two cups, and poured coffee into them.

Then, Acadia blinked up the canteen that Haji had given her, and poured it into the cup that she would give to Jeannie.

Acadia could not but feel a little proud of herself as she walked back in to the living room, with the two cups of coffee. Jeannie was sitting on the sofa, and she smiled when Acadia handed her the cup of coffee.

“Thank you.” She said.

“You’re very welcome.” Acadia replied while sitting next to her aunt, with a slight snicker.

Then, when she sat down, something on the table in front of her caught her attention. It was a photograph. A photograph of a man.

He must be Auntie‘s husband, Acadia thought. He was certainly more gorgeous than her mother had described. At that instant, a thought suddenly entered Acadia’s mind. Maybe, she could succeed where her mother, Jeanie, had failed many times. If Jeannie had lost all of her powers like Haji had said she would when she drank the potion, and left Major Nelson, maybe she, Acadia, could become the man’s new genie, and, quite possibly, his new wife.

Acadia felt a tap on her shoulder, and looked to see Aunt Jeannie, concern in the woman’s eyes. “Is everything all right, honey?” Jeannie asked.

“Oh, yes, Auntie.”

And then, Jeannie lifted her coffee cup up, and drank.

IV

As she drank the coffee, a wave of dizziness spread over Jeannie. There was some kind of flavor in the coffee that she could not identify. Then, she dropped the coffee cup, and heard it shatter on the floor.

And then her arms began to twitch involuntarily. “Aunt Jeannie?” She heard Acadia ask. But she could not reply. She could not move her lips or any other part of her body!

Then, without warning, Jeannie felt a burning sensation start in her entrails. She then began to feel very queasy. But she no longer felt the burning or the nausea as everything went black.

V

“Jeannie?!”

It was still quite dark, but Jeannie could hear someone call her name. Then everything cleared up. She was lying on the living room floor, and was being shaken by her husband, Anthony Nelson.

“Jeannie, are you alright?” Tony asked of her.

Jeannie rose up to her feet, still a little dizzy. “I think so, Master.”

“What happened?”

The dizziness finally concluded, and Jeannie was now able to think clearly. She realized now that several hours must have passed since she fainted. And speaking of several hours, where in the world was Acadia?

There was no time to worry about that now, as she looked her master-husband in the eye, and said “Please promise me you will not be angry with me Master if I tell you.”

“I promise.” Tony replied, with a grimace.

“Well,” Jeannie began, “Early this morning, Haji was here. He told me that he would be sending me a new Genie to train, and if I did not train this Genie, I would face very dire consequences. So, a few minutes after you left for work, the Genie popped in. It just happened to be my niece, Acadia.”

“Niece?!” Tony interrupted.

“Yes. However, it does not seem that way being that we are only ten years apart in age. Anyway, I offered her some coffee, and I was going to blink some in, but Acadia insisted to get it herself from the kitchen. I let her do it, and when I drank the coffee, I began to be in terrible pain, and I was twitching, and I was nauseous. I apparently must have passed out.”

An uneasy silence followed Jeannie’s explanation as Tony was sinking all of this in.

Then he sighed, and said “As long as you’re fine, I don’t think there is any need to discuss this any further. I’ll go in the bedroom, and take a little snooze before dinner.”

And he left without another word to his wife.

VI

A few hours later, Jeannie was in the kitchen, about to prepare dinner. She had originally had the intention of actually cooking the meal by hand, but after Anthony’s attitude towards her earlier quagmire she decided to blink up something.

She folded her arms, and attempted to blink up two plates of mash potatoes and gravy, meatloaf, and mixed vegetables. Nothing happened.

Jeannie blinked again. Still nothing happened.

She blinked a third time, and something appeared. Instead of being two whole plates of the meal, there was now two half plates, and on top of that, the mash potatoes, meatloaf, and the mixed vegetables looked like they had been cooked centuries ago, and had been left in the stove too long.

Jeannie took a very deep breath, and tried again. She produced the same result.

She let out a shriek, and tried again, but to no avail.

Watching this scene transpire in her chambers in Baghdad on her king-size floating crystal ball, Acadia laughed, uncontrollably. Everything was going according to plan.

VII

Tony Nelson arose from his little nap, and proceeded from his bedroom to the kitchen, very ravenous.

“Jeannie!” He yelled when he saw the mess in the kitchen.

Jeannie abruptly turned around, and a grim look came across her face.

“Jeannie, what’s going on here?” Tony demanded, pointing at the dozen half plates of food that were on the counter.

“Master, there is something terribly wrong with my powers!”

“I’ll say there is!” He yelled, but when he saw that his wife was about to weep, his tone grew more soothing. “I’m sorry for yelling at you like that, Jeannie. I’ll fix the two of us some cold cuts for dinner. I don’t particularly care for meat loaf anyway.”

VIII

The following morning, after a good night’s rest, Jeannie woke up bright and early. She was eager to see if her powers were in functioning order once more.

She went into the kitchen, folded her arms, and was going to blink in some breakfast.

Absolutely nothing happened.

Jeannie attempted again, in vain, and yet still nothing transpired.

Right when she was about to try a third time, Tony walked into the kitchen, and asked her what she was doing.

“I am trying to blink up your breakfast, but nothing is happening!”

“Maybe you’re sick,” Tony suggested.

Jeannie shook her head. “No, Master. I have completely lost my powers.”

“Now don’t talk like that, Jeannie. It’s probably something temporary. I’ll just have my breakfast at the base, and maybe by the time I get back, your power will have returned.”

He kissed Jeannie’s cheek and left the kitchen. When she heard the front door close behind him, Jeannie ran from the kitchen to the bedroom, flopped down on the bed, and began to sob.

IX

Eight and a half hours later, Tony Nelson arrived home. The only strange thing was that Jeannie did not greet him like she usually did when he arrived home from Cape Kennedy.

“Jeannie?” No response. He looked in the kitchen and living room for his wife, but there was no sign of her.

Tony then looked in Jeannie’s bottle, but she was not there. There was only one place she could be: the bedroom. He ventured toward the bedroom, expecting to see Jeannie there.

However, he did not.

Instead of finding Jeannie, Anthony found a note on the bed. He picked it up, and read it:

“Master,

If you are reading this letter it means that I am no longer with you. I have decided to go back to Baghdad and live with Mama. With my powers gone, I am no longer needed by you. I sincerely hope that you will try to forget me, and try to have a exultant life without me.

Forever yours,

Jeannie”

For quite a few minutes after reading the letter, Tony was too stunned even to move.

Meanwhile, while viewing this scene on her crystal ball, Acadia grinned. “Perfect.” she murmured to herself.

X

Three days later, Jeannie arrived in Baghdad, via airplane. Before leaving Cocoa Beach, she had taken the liberty of packing all of her clothes into two suitcases, and had changed out of her harem outfit into a bright yellow miniskirt.

She proceeded to saunter the streets trying to find her mother’s abode. As Jeannie was walking, she received many glances from rather perverted-looking men, but she tried her best not to let it bother her.

She did not know for how long she had been walking (since she left her watch back in Cocoa Beach), but she finally reached her mother’s abode. It had been many centuries since Jeannie had actually seen the front of the abode since she had grown accustomed to blinking inside, but she was sure this was it.

Jeannie knocked on the door, because she did not want to barge in if Fatima was in the middle of doing something. A couple of seconds passed without a response, then Jeannie knocked again. The door opened, and standing in the doorway was Jeannie’s elderly, bespectacled mother, Fatima.

“Jeannie!”

“Hello, Mama.”

Mother and daughter embraced. Fatima motioned for her daughter to enter. Jeannie set her suitcases on the floor, and when she had shut the door behind her, Fatima asked “What in Allah’s name are you wearing?”

“This is the clothing of American mortal women, Mama.”

Fatima rolled her eyes and shook her head. “That idiotic husband of yours has corrupted you, child.”

“He has not!” retorted Jeannie.

“No matter,” her mother replied. “Now, since when do you knock at my door?” Why didn’t you just pop inside like you typically do?”

“I have lost my powers!”

“What?!”

“I have lost my powers!” Jeannie repeated.

Unexpectedly, Fatima’s expression turned to one of concern. “When did you lose them, honey?”

“About five days ago. And I do not know why!” Jeannie said, and then she started to sob.

Fatima went to Jeannie and put an arm around her. “There, there, Jeannie. It’ll be alright.”

“No it will not,” Jeannie replied, still sobbing. “I have had to leave my Master, as well as-”

“Then what are you crying for? I never did like that thickheaded mortal anyway. I never understood what you saw in him!”

With this, Jeannie’s sobbing grew louder.

“Now Jeannie, please stop that crying, and-” Fatima stopped talking. Her face went a sickly pale. “Jeannie,” she said, trying her very best not to gasp. “What happened to your hair?”

“What do you mean, Mama?” Jeannie asked, having just composed herself.

Fatima gulped, then blinked up a mirror and handed it to Jeannie. “See for yourself.”

Jeannie took the mirror, and looked at herself, then gasped. Quite a few strands of her hair were now streaked gray!

XI

Back in Cocoa Beach, Florida, Tony Nelson was sitting alone on the sofa in his living room, staring blankly at the ceiling. He had been this way for the past three days. Tony had not even gone to work. He was too engrossed reminiscing about Jeannie.

His reverie was ended, however, as the door opened, and Major Roger Healey stepped inside, closing the door behind him, and looking rather concerned. “Tony, where have you been?”

“I’ve been here, Rog, at home. Can’t you tell?”

“What’s wrong with you?”

Major Healey was not prepared for what he would hear next. “Jeannie’s left me. She’s at her parent’s place by now.”

There was a rather odd silence that followed thereafter. Then, Roger asked “Why would Jeannie do a thing like that?”

“She lost her powers.”

“How did that happen?”

“I don’t know, Roger!” Tony snapped back.

“Okay! You don’t have to get snappy about it! And besides, for all we know she might come back. You know she couldn’t last one day without you.”

Tony gave Roger a stern look. “Jeannie’s been gone for three days now, Roger, so we can safely assume that she’s getting along fine and will not come back here.”

Just then, Acadia popped into the living room right in front of the two astronauts. “You see!” Roger said. “I told you she’d be back.”

Then, Roger took another look at Acadia and saw the differences between her and her aunt. He was about to ask “Jeannie” what she had done to herself, but Tony beat him to it.

“I’m not Jeannie, silly,” Acadia said, smiling. “I’m her niece, Acadia.”

Tony sighed. “Of course. You’re the Genie who she was training.”

“Yes, I’m the one. And you must be Major Nelson. My Mama’s told me so much about you.”

Acadia turned toward Roger, and her smile vanished. “Who is this?”

“He’s my friend, Major Roger Healey.”

Roger was checking Acadia up and down, desire in his eyes. “Wow,” he said in a daze.

Then, realizing that all eyes were on him he corrected himself by saying “Oh, hi.”

“Hello.” Acadia replied. Then, she smiled again, and blinked Major Healey out of the house.

Tony jumped up from the sofa. “What do you think you’re doing? Bring him back here right this minute, young lady!”

Ignoring him, Acadia wrapped her arms around Tony’s neck and said “Now we’re finally alone, Master.”

“Master? I’m not your Master! I already have a genie.”

Still ignoring him, Acadia gave him a very long, passionate kiss on the lips. Tony immediately sprung free of her, and ran to the other side of the room.

“Don’t you come near me!”

Acadia frowned. “I guess I’m going to have to do this the hard way.”

She blinked, freezing Anthony to the spot where he was standing. Acadia then blinked in a blue leaf she had pilfered from Venus while she and her mother were visiting there one century ago. If a man smelled the deliciously sweet aroma of the leaf, it would make him fall madly in love with the first woman he sees.

Acadia held the leaf under Tony’s nose, then she blinked once again, unfreezing him.

Before he could even open his mouth, he was already smelling the leaf, apparently in some sort of trance.

Finally, Acadia removed the leaf from under his nose, and Anthony looked at her and smiled. He walked over to her, put his arms around her, and asked “Acadia, has anyone

ever told you how truly sexy you are?”

Acadia blushed a little, then Anthony leaned closer to her, and kissed her.

XII

“Mama, what is happening?!” Jeannie asked in horror at the sight of her graying hair.

“Now, Jeannie. This is no time to panic.”

“This is a perfect time to panic! My age is finally catching up with me!”

“Jeannie, will you please calm down? I need you to tell me everything that happened before you discovered that you had lost your powers.”

“Well, Haji contacted me earlier that day and told me that he was sending me a new Genie to train. It turned out that the new Genie was Acadia.”

Fatima looked aghast. “You let that little tramp into your house?!”

“She offered to bring us some coffee and I said okay, and she brought it, I drank it, and then I passed out, and then I was awakened hours later by Anthony.”

Fatima snapped her fingers. “Just what I suspected! That good for nothing granddaughter of mine poured some of the Fountain of Barnou into your coffee.”

“What on Earth is the Fountain of Barnou?”

“The Fountain of Barnou is a fountain that is located in the Sahara desert, that when consumed by a Genie, completely drains them of their powers, and, in many cases, reveals that Genie’s true age. The only person on the planet who has access to the Fountain is a current King or Queen of the Djinns and Genies, which would mean that Haji himself is responsible for this.”

“But why would Acadia want to give this to me?”

Fatima shrugged. “Who knows? We can infer that Haji gave her the sample of the fountain, and gave her specific instructions to administer it to you so you would leave that ignorant husband of yours.”

Jeannie ignored that last comment. “What are we going to do now, Mama?”

“I could concoct an antidote.”

“How long will it take you?”

“Oh, give or take, about three hours. But, while I’m concocting it, I suggest you go into the kitchen and wait.”

“Why?”

“You’re undoubtedly going to have your true age shown a little bit more, and I look worse for the wear as it is, but to see my own daughter look worse than I do will distract me.”

Jeannie went into the kitchen as Fatima asked, hoping that she would formulate the antidote before she aged too much further.

XIII

At the dining room table, Tony Nelson and Acadia were eating a very rich, scrumptious dinner that the latter had made with her own two hands. Tony was dressed in his white dinner jacket, while Acadia was dressed in a white dress that was very similar to the one Jeannie wore on her and Tony’s first anniversary as master and Genie.

“Are you content with this meal, Master?” asked Acadia.

“I most certainly am, Acadia. And you say you made this with your own two hands, with no magic involved?”

“Guilty as charged, babe.”

Tony devoured more of the meal, then he grunted with approval, then said “You cook much better than that scatterbrained aunt of yours.”

Acadia grinned. She had never been too fond of men in the past, that is why she had had only one master in her entire life. However, meeting her Aunt’s husband after all of the stories her mother had told her about him, her thoughts of the male sex had changed completely.

Her only goal in her life now was to please her new Master, by any means necessary.

XIV

Back in Baghdad, Fatima had been slaving over her cauldron mixing various potions to help cure her daughter of her affliction for the past two and a half hours. She was tired, petulant, and perspiring heavily. But, what’s a mother for?

She was busy mixing another ingredient into the cauldron, when a low, feeble voice asked “Mama?”

Fatima turned around, and gasped at the ghastly sight before her. Jeannie was standing in front of her mother, but she had aged a great deal. Her hair was now completely gray, her lips dry and cracked, and there were wrinkles all over her face and arms.

“Mama? Are you done now?” She asked, even though her voice was getting worse by the minute, and she was feeling very exhausted.

“I am almost finished, Jeannie. Now please go back into the kitchen, and continue waiting patiently.”

“But Mama! I am aging more rapidly than before. If this keeps happening, I will probably turn into a skeleton!”

“Jeannie, do what I say!”

“But-”

“No buts! Go back into the kitchen!”

Jeannie turned around, and headed back into the kitchen, pouting and coughing up something terrible at the same time.

Her mother turned back, and continued concocting the antidote. She silently prayed that her daughter would not die on her before she could administer it to her.

XV

After dinner, Tony and Acadia were sitting in the living room, chatting with each other.

“So, Acadia, what do you want to do now?”

“I would like to go for a walk.”

“Where?”

Acadia then blinked Anthony and herself to the Cocoa Beach park. “Here in the park.”

The two of them took each others hands, and began to walk in the moonlight. Acadia had a feeling that she and Tony were going to be real happy together, and that no one was going to take this man away from her, ever.

XVI

“Jeannie, I’ve got it!” Fatima bellowed. Jeannie came gradually into the living room where her mother now stood with a flask in her hand, which contained the antidote.

“Wonderful!” Jeannie croaked gutturally. Her mother handed the flask to her, and

Jeannie procured it from her, then drank.

Immediately after finishing it, Jeannie felt better. The gray in her hair vanished as inexplicably as it had appeared, and her wrinkles and other age spots vanished as well.

She also felt a charge pulse through her, which could only mean one thing: her powers had returned!

“Oh, thank you, Mama!” Jeannie said, happily, hugging her mother.

“My pleasure, honey. Now, you better scurry back to that husband of yours before Acadia steals him away from you.”

Jeannie picked up her suitcases, blinked on her harem outfit, kissed Fatima on the cheek and told her she would come see her real soon, and then she blinked out of the hut.

XVII

After their walk in the park, Tony and Acadia were back in the formers home. Acadia was giggling as Major Nelson whispered erotic love poems in her ear.

Then, unexpectedly, Jeannie popped in front of them. Both Tony and Acadia were surprised to see her. “Jeannie, what are you doing here?”

“What do you mean what am I doing here, Acadia? I live here.”

“Not anymore you don’t.” Acadia said, rising to stand before her aunt. “Tony is mine now. I can provide him with more than you can in twenty centuries. And all with this-” She blinked into her right hand the leaf which caused Anthony to fall madly in love with her.

Jeannie looked at the leaf, then gasped when she realized what it was. Fatima had used the Venusian Love Leaf on one of Jeannie’s suitors centuries ago, with hilarious results. She knew the only way that someone who smelled the leaf could be broken of the enchantment if the leaf was destroyed.

So, with one blink from Jeannie, the leaf burst into flame in Acadia’s hand. The latter shrieked and threw the leaf on the floor, and it immediately disintegrated into ashes. At this time, Anthony passed out, due to the fact that with the leaf’s power over him gone, he would be thoroughly exhausted for many hours.

Acadia was incensed right about now. “You unscrupulous little tramp! How dare you do this to me!”

“Is that any way to talk to your aunt?”

Acadia scowled at Jeannie. “Now we’ll have to battle. House rules?”

Jeannie shook her head, firmly. “I do not think so,” and then she blinked.

“What was that for?” demanded the younger Genie.

“You shall see.”

Mere seconds passed, when Acadia began to itch around her forehead. She scratched, and at the exact same moment while she was scratching, she began to itch on her legs.

While she was scratching her legs, Acadia was suddenly attacked by itches from all over her entire body! “What’ve you done to me?!” She asked her aunt, while feverishly scratching.

“I have inflicted the Curse of One Thousand Itches upon you.”

Acadia continued her scratching, having her own skin being dug underneath her fingernails. “For Allah’s sake, Auntie make it stop!”

“Will you promise to leave my husband alone?”

“Never! Tony belongs to me now!”

“Very well.”

And Acadia’s itching and scratching sustained.

“Alright!” Acadia yelled, finally giving in. “I’ll leave that mortal husband of yours to you, just please stop this darned itching!”

Once again, Jeannie blinked, and instantly the itching ceased.

Acadia then blinked on her harem outfit, and glared at her aunt. “You haven’t seen the last of me, Auntie. I’ll get you for this.”

And with that, Acadia blinked herself out of the Nelson home. Jeannie sighed, then looked at her sleeping husband. He would not be waking up for a few hours.

Then, Roger Healey barged into the house. He was very disheveled. “Major Healey, what are you doing here?”

“Your niece blinked me to the Amazon River.”

He looked at Tony sleeping, and frowned. “Why is he so exhausted?! He’s not the one who had to deal with five Anacondas!”

Jeannie smiled. If Acadia or anyone else tried to break up their happy home, at least right now everything was as it should be.

THE END
