I feel Good Times should be another one of the classic shows that is shown on Nick at Nite. This show is truly a classic (just like the Jeffersons, Facts of Life, I Love Lucy, etc.)Do you guys think so?

Yes. Practically the only show that is a Bud Yorkin / Norman Lear show thats shown on TBS is GT

Maybe Nick at Nite thinks that there are too many controversial episodes like The Facts Of Life.

Maybe Columbia House will release all the episodes on video. Hopefully !!

I think keeping the show off the air would be a fright! So lets bring back Kid DYNOMITE!

Who needs a petition? I'm sure Nick-at-Nite will re-air the show soon. What with all the 70s craze going on. Diff'rent Strokes was just added to the line-up, so Good Times can't be far off!

TBS airs this Dynomite show at 5:00 AM EST. Kinda late isn't it? http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Yeah, it is...I watched it at 4 am sometimes last summer, but I've been trying to watch it every night this summer. I don't know how long I can go on doing this. I think I'll just start recording. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Do we really want this show on Nick at Nite? Nick at Nite does terrible things to their shows. Airing the episodes out of order, totally skipping controversial episodes. Good Times would have so many episodes that Nick wouldn't air. For example, tonight TBS is airing Part 2 of The Gang in which J.J. has to deal with a gang which ends up with him getting shot. Nick at Nite won't even air The Jeffersons Part 1/Part 2 where George has to deal with a gang mugging him.

Bottom line, the best thing would be if TV Land picked up Good Times, they don't skip and they would air every episode.

totally agree I hope they put it on tvland, That's what they did with the mary tyler moore show and it gets some respect there. They should all in the family there too.

Of course we know that NAN is a Nickeldeon network and they have to be aware as to what they air. But if they are airing Roseanne, all bets are off then.

I moved to Hawaii in October '99. Soon after I moved here, "Good Times" started coming on. It was like I found a new friend. I hadn't seen Good Times in YEARS!!! My husband is in the military and each time we locate, the first thing I do, is look through the TV guide to see if "Good Times" is on a station.
I was looking at BET today, and I could have sworn I saw BernNadette Stanis in a movie preview. Does any one out there know if that was indeed her, and what was the name of the movie. It's been a long time since I've seen her in anything. Also, Ralph Carter, Jimmie Walker, and Ja'Net DuBois. However, I do see her from time to time, and I see John Amos alot too. My favorite episodes were the one with John Amos in them. They messed the show up when they took him and Esther Rolle out. I would much rather watch the earlier episodes than the later ones.

TBS airs it at 5am.
Where they show them in order, no one screen
crap and they leave the end alone.
It is much better where it is and
tape it.
Don't you people know how cable works?
One channels has a show No other can buy it.

Actually, TBS is not just a regular cable network. If you hadn't noticed they get the episodes from the syndication packages. So all episodes of all shows are the same version if you would watch it on a local channel. So the episodes of Good Times that are shown on TBS are the same version that air on WPWR Channel 50 in Chicago. This means that sure, TBS could air Good Times but that doesn't mean that Nick at Nite won't pick it up. Look at Gilligan's Island, it airs on Nick at Nite and TBS. The Jeffersons airs on Nick at Nite and in syndication (WPWR Channel 50 in Chicago). So if TBS or WGN wanted The Jeffersons they could get it.

I'm not so sure that the TBS version and a version you would get on a local station would necessarily be the same. I know with Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley which both aired on TBS, the local versions I saw of some episodes were slightly different.

I know with The Brady Bunch - the episodes that aired on TBS were edited differently then the Nick at Nite versions.

That's interesting, because TBS's versions of The Cosby Show, The Brady Bunch, Good Times, Bewitched and The Addams Family have all been the same version that I've seen on local channels.

Anyways, the point is, TBS and WGN should be looked at as if they were local channels. All the sitcoms and dramas that TBS and WGN airs is available to almost all local channels in the country.

Some cable channels only have Exculsive Cable coverage, means locals can air it too.

It is so nice to see that other people love Good Times as much as I do. I agree with all the statements about Nick at Night showing it and Columbia House offering the tapes for sale.
I wonder who owns the rights to the shows now? Norman & Bud ?
I also love Fat Albert and the gang, I wonder why those aren't shown anymore ? Must have something to do with Bill Cosby..hmmm

you brought up a very interesting point about the lack of Fat Albert reruns and Bill Cosby. I wonder if the stars themselves ( or the children of the stars -if they are deceased ) have the power to prevent a show from being rerun-ed?

Recent example: Chico & The Man. TV Land aired reruns for awhile of this. Then I read somewhere that Freddie Prinze Jr. was upset
about the reruns saying how painful it is to see the father he never knew on tv. Not long after this TV Land didnt show Chico as much.

I also heard that Prinze Jr. thought showing the reruns were "great"!! Which fact is correct? One may never really know for sure.

But I do wonder if there are cases if the star of a show prevents the show from going into the rerun circuit. If so then that will answer many of the questions here- why a certain show is never seen in reruns.

I feel its time for NAN and TVLand to honer this groundbreaking show. Its time Good Times see some wonderful longevity on both of the networks............Two Have mercies for Good Times!
