N@N's original series are terrible.

At least TVLand has put out some good stuff (TVLand Moguls, 100 Greatest TV Moments, ALF's Hit Talk Show)

Anyways.... I'm still not going to be tuning into N@N any time soon. I like all their acquired series, but I'm fine with having them on DVD.

I like all their acquired series, but I'm fine with having them on DVD.

By and large, I agree, there's just one small problem there - of the six shows that Nick at Nite currently air, none have had a DVD release beyond the second season, and two of them haven't even been released onto DVD at ALL.

Plus, with the lengths of some of these shows, even if they release two seasons per year from here on out, it'll still be 4-5 years before they're all on DVD.

I don't want to wait half a decade for Murphy Brown - The Complete Final Season

NICK AT NITE CROWNS THE FUNNIEST MOM IN AMERICA

Actress and Comedian Sandra Bernhard Hosts Event Showcasing

Finalists from Across the Country in Hour-Long Original Special

Real-Life Mom Gets Chance to Develop Own Show, Host an Evening on Net and Win $50,000

Santa Monica, CA, April 21, 2005 – After months of scouring the country in various comedy clubs and digging though over 1,000 entries, Nick at Nite has found The Funniest Mom in America! On Tuesday, May 3 from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. (ET/PT), actress and comedian Sandra Bernhard will host an hour-long original special on Nick at Nite showcasing the five finalists -- Lynne Hurdle-Price (Bronx, NY), Christine Hurley (Plymouth, MA), LeAnne Morgan (Knoxville, TN), Darlene Westgor (Burnsville, MN) and Nancy Witter (Floral Park, NY) -- as they compete for the crown. The grand prize winner will get a chance to develop her own original show for the network, win $50,000 plus host a special night of programming on Nick at Nite on Mother’s Day, May 8. The special was taped at New York City’s Hudson Theatre on Thursday, April 7.

The finalists will go head-to-head as they perform before an audience and a panel of celebrity judges – comedian Carole Leifer, actor Malcolm Jamal Warner and casting director Jodi Collins – who will decide who is The Funniest Mom in America. Additionally, comedian Jeffrey Ross, who consulted the moms for one week in preparation for the show, will also be featured in the special. Ross assisted the finalists in putting their acts together. The series is being produced for Nick at Nite by Nick at Nite Productions in conjunction with executive producer Elyse Roth and Local Woman Films.

Throughout the hour, in addition to the moms’ comedy routines, viewers will see various video submissions and get up close and personal with the finalists’ families at home.

“Nick at Nite’s Search for the Funniest Mom in America” invited all moms across the U.S. to send us a tape of themselves at their funniest. Additionally, the network held open calls at 21 comedy clubs across the country throughout February.

The five finalists are:

Lynne Hurdle-Price, Bronx NY

Lynne has two sons, who are 9 ½ and 3 ½ years old . Lynne considers herself a “real” mom – over 40, not a size 10, and in debt. Lynne has performed at Caroline’s Comedy Club and other clubs throughout New York City.

Christine Hurley, Plymouth, MA

A stay-at-home mom with five children, Christine usually performs for friends at barbeques and play groups. This is only Christine’s fourth performance before an audience.

LeAnne Morgan, Knoxville, TN

LeAnne has been doing stand-up on and off over the last six years. She has one son and two daughters.

Darlene Westgor, Burnsville, MN

Darlene is a single mom with two sons, ages 17 and 14. She works in the ER during the day and at night she is a comic who has opened for Lewis Black.

Nancy Witter, Floral Park, NY

Nancy, a single mother of two has performed comedy for the last nine years. She has won two MAC awards for female comedian and has performed at Don’t Tell Mama.

About Host Sandra Bernhard:

Sandra Bernhard has been challenging fans and critics with her knife-edged humor, satire and emotive performances on film, television and stage. Over the last year, she launched her U.S. and Australian Tour, “Everything Bad and Beautiful” and appeared in NBC’s hit series Crossing Jordan and Showtime’s The L Word.

Previous credits include: “I’m Still Here…Damn It!”, which appeared on Broadway, “Without You I’m Nothing,” and “Excuses For Bad Behavior.” On the big screen she has been seen in The King Of Comedy, Somewhere In The City, Inside Monkey Zetterland, Hudson Hawk and Track 29, while on television, Bernhard had a regular (and groundbreaking) role on Roseanne and guest turns on Law & Order: SVU, Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope, The Sopranos and Will & Grace. She also hosted her own talk show, The Sandra Bernhard Experience, on A&E. Her books include: Confessions of A Pretty Lady, Love, Love, and Love and May I Kiss You on the Lips, Miss Sandra?.

About the Judges:

Carole Leifer has been a successful standup comedian as well as writer for shows like Seinfeld, Saturday Night Live & The Larry Sanders Show. Finally, Malcolm Jamal Warner stars in CBS’s Listen Up and is best known as Theo Huxtable from The Cosby Show. Casting director Jodi Collins is an industry insider. She’s known as one of NY’s finest casting directors and has placed comedians in dozens of films, plays & TV shows for networks including Fox, HBO & NBC.

Fatherhood Delivers More Family Fun With Premiere Of Second Season

Nick At Nite’s Hit Original Animated Series Returns May 17

New York, NY, May 10, 2005 – Nick at Nite’s first original, animated series, Fatherhood, based on Bill Cosby’s best selling book of the same name, returns for a second season of family fun and Dr. Bindlebeeps’ fatherly wisdom on Tuesday, May 17 at 9:30 pm (ET/PT). The series stars Blair Underwood and Sabrina LeBeauf and is executive produced by Cosby for Nick at Nite along with Charles Kipps (Little Bill, Cosby Mysteries), Mike Milligan (The Jeffersons, Dear John, Here and Now) and David Brokaw (Little Bill). Celebrities Jim Belushi, Don Knotts and Malcolm Jamal-Warner all lend their voices to the series this season.

“We’re thrilled to go into a second season of this family comedy and to continue our relationship with Bill Cosby,” states Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land and Nick at Nite. “Fatherhood has connected with our audience in a huge way, and we know our viewers share the same enthusiasm for fun, family viewing.”

Fatherhood delivers a comedic, yet insightful journey in each half hour episode focusing on the challenges, life lessons and comical confusions of family life. Underwood stars as the voice of “Dr. Bindlebeep,” a high school teacher, loving husband and father of three. Sabrina LeBeauf (The Cosby Show) stars as his wife, Norma. Sal Maniaci, Vice President, Development & Production, TV Land and Nick at Nite is overseeing the project.

Nearly 64 million cumulative viewers tuned into the first season of Fatherhood, which premiered in June 2004. The series went on to win a NAMIC Vision Award (The National Association of Minorities in Communications) for Best Comedy (tied with Chapelle’s Show).

Fatherhood (Doubleday/Dolphin) was published in May 1986 and became the fastest-selling hardcover book at that time. It remained for over half of its fifty-four weeks on The New York Times Best Seller List as #1. It has sold over 2.6 million hardcover copies and 1.5 million paperbacks (published by Berkeley).

“Truth or Scare”

Premieres May 24 at 9:30 pm (ET/PT)

Roy gets a ‘D’ on his report card and Dr. Bindlebeep accidentally smashes Roy’s bike, and neither want to tell the other. Guest voice: Jim Belushi.

“The Second Family”

Premieres May 31 at 9:30pm (ET/PT)

The annoying John Kurtz and Angie are paired up in a mock marriage for social studies class, becoming an even bigger nightmare to Angie when Dr. Bindlebeep befriends Kurtz. Guest voice: Don Knotts

The 1:00am hour was going downhill fast, so that is probably the reason Cosby Show replaced Who's the Boss/Murphy hour. Wings at 3:30 couldn't hold even any of the anemic Murphy ratings at 3am, so that is why that is gone.
