After struggling last week opposite ABC's highly-rated Happy Days 30th Anniversary Reunion, Joey got one final opportunity to increase its audience without competition from Survivor, which returns for its new season next week. While the spin-off sitcom did manage to improve by 1.5 million viewers from last week, its numbers remained well below NBC's desired outcome. The seventeenth episode of Joey came away with a 7.5 rating and a 12 share, notably ahead of last week's 6.6/10. In place of Survivor, CBS again aired an encore episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which dominated the hour over NBC's combination of Joey and Will & Grace. With an estimate of 11.44 million viewers, Joey ranked seventh for the night, as shown by the preliminary ratings.

1. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: 17.2/26

2. Without a Trace: 12.7/21

3. ER: 11.5/19

4. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (8:00 Repeat): 10.9/17

5. The Apprentice 3: 9.9/15

6. Will & Grace: 7.7/12

7. Joey: 7.5/12

CBS continued its Thursday night dominance, increasing its lead with a 13.6/21 average that was significantly in front of NBC's second-place 9.7/15. Joey slipped out of the season-to-date top twenty in January. American Idol and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation have a stranglehold on the top spots, while Joey continues to compete with Will & Grace for the number-three sitcom behind Everybody Loves Raymond and Two and a Half Men. Survivor premieres its latest season next Thursday night, as Joey will seek to maintain a consistent audience opposite the successful reality show in the third week of February sweeps.
