your show has been my favorite for the past 4years +. I know that every Monday Evening no matter how my day went, that I would laugh before going to bed.Last monday Nov. 5th. when Peter Boyle called someone a Bastard hit a sour note with me. To me it just wasn't right at that moment.

Umm, if you're such a fan of the show then you would know that Peter has sworn before that episode.

I agree, MTM Fan. So what if he swore, lots of people do. ELR is a realistic show. Its not supposed to be fake like 7th Heaven

I agree. Go watch Full House or something if you don't like listening to people swear. I hear a lot worse in the real world than on network TV.

It doesn't bother me when Frank swears, I am a Flight Attendant believ me I hear a lot worse. One reason, I love ELR is because it is realistic. Frank wouldn't be Frank if he didn't swear.JMVHO http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

That's the way of the world esp. hollywood. Yes, it's much worse in real life but it doesn't have to be in yours. Instead of cleaning up, hollywood doles out more. By the way, the public shouldn't have to change channels-it should be up to hollywood to churn out responsible programming.

Why? We all know it's only a t.v. show. Didn't anyone ever teach you the difference between something you see on t.v. and what is going to happen in real life?

Yes, it's only a tv show. However, it does reflect the society we live in. How much do we tolerate on tv? We wouldn't tolerate the same kinds of stuff on tv in real life or do we already? It's the attitude that some carry that lets the bile in our society exist. Those like myself that want a decent society are called amongest other things as mother theresa, much worse. I'd rather have something on tv that mother theresa could watch. What's wrong with decency? Raymond does have good qualities to it and it's not as bad as some shows on now. However, hollywood should do something about aiming trash at young kids.. I know--change the channel but.....shouldn't have to : - )

All he did was swear, its not like he killed a guy. Your making a big deal out of something thats not. Lots of people swear it doesn't make someone a bad person. This show is realistic.

Lots of people commit suicide but does it make it right? If you follow the your logic it might. The person who started this thread seemed concerned about cussing. So far,it's been excused away. That should tell that person that many people will tolerate anything as long it doesn't affect them. Instead of agreeing, the answers are the typical ones that our society tolerates living in a moral sewer.

Well, then I guess it's how you were raised because where I come from swearing isn't as big a deal as other people think it is. No, swearing isn't always appropriate but Ray based the show on his life not anyone else's. Maybe where he came from people swore. He didn't say it was right and he didn't ask for anyone to agree with it.

Bastard is in the dictionary. I understsand that it was taken out of context, but who should cast the first stone.... who here has never said a cuss word in their lives
After the terrible events that have taken place in our country, do you think it matters.... maybe instead of criticizing a cuss word you should worry about the youth in tday's society who grow up with role models such as Brittney Spears and base their merits on the size of their bustline.
Or perhaps it's perfectly fine to listen to some holyroller on tv say whatever he feels like.

Get over it already

I see logic doesn't prevail. oh well. I had a cousin once that was diabetic. He cut his toe and didn't take care of it. Wounds take longer to heal with diabetics. Anyway, he lost a couple of toes, then his foot, then his leg, then his life. All forms of sin leads to death even the smallest sin. Maybe one day, those that read this will find it out one day, somewhere, by someone. So, why does frank need to swear? I don't know but at least I make an excuse for it. Who is without sin, cast the first stone. Yes,but I have been forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ--have you?

Personally, I'm a lot more offended by some holier-than-thou Bible thumper who says that women shouldn't leave their abusive husbands and homosexuality is unnatural and immoral and stuff like that than I am with people who use cuss words.

I always thought Christianity was about loving God and His children and accepting Jesus as our Savior, not about judging and condemning people for their 'sinful' behavior.

Actually, God finds homosexuality an abomination. I find it funny when homosexuals tend to leave that out when they try to use the Bible for their own means. It's to bad that men and women today really don't get the council before they get married. One Godly person in a marriage most often doesn't work but then, the non-believer also has been led to Christ within that marriage. However, it's best when both believe. I didn't before I did got married. IT took awhile but it does make more of a good marriage-not perfect. And, if I get out of hand-worldly or wordly--all I have to do is ask God to forgive me. And he does it 70x's70x's a day.

That is one of the most offensive posts that I have ever seen here! I'm heterosexual, but I know a few people who happen to be gay, and you know what? They happen to be some of the kindest, most open-minded people that I know. I'd rather sit and listen to them than some holier-than-thou BASTARD like you! Homosexuality is starting to become socially acceptabe and you conservative Christians better get out of that little fantasy world you all wish to live in and deal with it!!!

And this is coming from a Christian.

Someone call security please....or a moderator.
I don't think a sitcom message board is the proper forum for a discussion of this nature.
I guess the old adage about not discussing religion or politics is true.

Amen! I hate it when people come on here and make such a big deal that has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with this message board. So, if you want to talk Christ, take it into mail or IMs because the rest of us don't care.

I apologize for continuing to respond to this topic, but that hateful comment about homosexuality being an abomination really hit on my raw nerves. Most Christians I know accept and respect homosexuals for the people they are. I don't see how calling it an abomination is being loving and caring towards them.

i'm stepping down from my soapbox and I'm not responding to this topic any more. I mean it this time. TJ should come and close it.

You're a christian? Sorry, to step on your toes. If you are, you should have read lev. 22 where yes, God finds homosexuality an abomination. If you go to church, ask your pastor to explain it to you-that is unless of course he would allow you to call someone a B#####. I never said I hate homosexuals-I'm against the sin. People I don't have a problem with-it's the sin. And if you follow Gods word, you'd know what I say. Yes, it's becomind accepted by those who don't believe and have no moral absolutes--usually liberals. But, I too will get off My soap box. By the way, I'd like to find out where you got your Bible. It would make interesting reading. I still like Raymond-to bad his dad has to cuss though.
