What is your all-time favorite episode of Everybody Loves Raymond so far and why?

I liked the episode when they found out one of the twins was going to have to repeat pre-school, instead of going on to Kindergarten. He was a little behind other kids his age. My child is the same way, so I could relate. On the show they were sad, but they realized it wasn't the end of the World, that their son would catch up. I thought it was a very well done episode and very sweet.

I think one of the best episodes is "Ride-Along" where Robert stops a guy commiting a hold-up at Nemo's.

I like any scene with Robert and Raymond together. They're my favorite sitcom siblings since the Hackett brothers from Wings.

The ones that I liked the best were when Ray's cousin Gerlard sp? visits, and everyone tells him that he is like is cousin. They do look alot alike, if someone told me that those two were brothers in real life I would believe it. Although they are not brothers in real life. The other one is when Ray is having a mid life crisis, and I got a kick out of his things to do before he dies list. And when one of them is never to throw up again. There are others though to :)

I don't know the name of the episode but it has Paul Reubens (aka Pee Wee Herman) as the owner of a comic book store. I like it because it has Reubens in it. He's a lot different now as opposed to being Pee Wee Herman.

Some of the funniest episodes revolve around Robert- such as Robert's Date, when he hangs out with his partner Judy and her friends, and Lucky Suit, a recent hilarious episode where Marie sabatoges his interview with the F.B.I.

The Wallpaper - the one where Frank crashes his car into the house is another favorite.

My all time fav. "E.L.R" episode is " Bad Moon Rising" aka the p.m.s episode followed closely
by " How They Met?". Patricia was utterly believable in brilliantly portraying a woman with constantly changing emotions and the episode was so well written. No wonder it resulted in her first emmy win.

In "How they met?", Ray and Debra reminisce about how they met the first time. It's so sweet and funny and filled with various tidbits that any ELR fan would surely recognise such as lemon chicken, futon guy etc..

One of my favorites is the one when the electricity goes out during a snowstorm and they all go over to Ray's parent's.
They get on the subjects of strange quirks they have and Ray tells Robert's take on Good n Plenty candy. That is hilarioous!:happyface

ends up dressing in a short leather mini-skirt for the next PTA meeting and its
pretty funny.

One of the funniest episodes has got to be when Ray tries to gain power over Deborah by with-holding sex with her .. so freaking hilarious, especially at the end when he's eating breakfast with Deborah and all of a sudden screams "I Quit!!!!"

True, that one would be in MY top ten also, but for me, it's THE SUITCASE, that one was so hilarious. My second choice would be the TOASTER Christmas gift. And whenever i really LOVE a show, i notice it's never about the brother or the wife or those God awful kids, LOL!

My favorites are:
1) How we got here-when they look back to when Debra was pregnant with the twins and they moved into the dreaded house! I felt sorry for one of the twins in that one...they dressed one of them up like a girl to potray baby Allie!

2) The meatball episode
3) Debra cooks something good
4) Allie's birth

Many more...but can't think right now!

OH Nuts!

There are many great ELR eps, so it's hard to pick the best. But I think the one I'd pick is #135 Tissues, where Debra lets Ray have a much larger hand in decision making and he almost ends up burning the kitchen down. What I love in this ep is how Deb really rocks, and quickly gets things under control. Deb is ONE SMART LADY, Raymond is lucky he has her!

(Marie's sculpture, crashing the car into the side of Ray's house, Robbie's wedding are also really greet ones that come to mind)

My favorite is "Separation" from season 5 (2001). Debra's parents decide to separate. I love the part where she and her father (Robert Culp) talk about it.
It's touching. I thought it was insensative of Ray to joke about it. My parents are divorced, and that is very painful. I deal with it every day of my life. I felt like I could empathize with Debra. I liked that episode.

The absolute funniest episode is the one where Marie and Frank get kicked out of the retirement community.

Runners-up: Marie interrupts Robert and Amy's wedding; the marriage counselor episode; all 4 episodes with Ray's arch-enemy, Peggy, but particularly the one where she and Ray fight over the cookie table location; any one with physical fights between Robert and Ray or Debra and Ray. Also, the first REAL Raymond episode of the series (Standard Deviation) was pretty good, just because of the surprise of Debra dumping the ice cream on his (ahem!) lap. There are SO many more...

Most of my favorites feature Robert because he's my favorite character. There are sooo many good episodes that it's hard to narrow it down! Five that I really love off the top of my head:

1. Robert and Amy's wedding
2. How Ray and Debra met
3. Thanksgiving at Hank and Pat's house
4. Pat smoking
5. Peter comes to visit and won't leave

* As you can see, I really love Amy's family. The last couple of seasons were the best, IMO! :D

My favorite is is when Frank and Marie get kicked out of the retirement community. It's because of the funny scene where the head of the community abruptly tells Ray and Debra to take them out of there. Then later when the exercise machine hits Robert.

There are some clunker episodes. The worst is a final season episode whre Ray insults a janitor whose kid he had taken to a ball game. That episode is torture...end it already! Another is a later episode where a guy Frank had mentored finds him again. Aaaaah...end it! And, finally, where a supposed relative from Italy visits...no point! (but they're the only 3 I can think of)

I didn't watch the show very much and only saw a few episodes but the one I would have to say was my favorite, was the one when Frank and Marie were causing problems at the retirement home they were living in and the people there told Ray and Debra they had to take Frank and Marie with them.

I liked the one when Ray felt guilty for laughing about Robert's injury in the "upper thigh" from the bull attack and when he helps Robert change the band-aid.

One of the ones I couldn't stop laughing was when they didn't have satellite TV and played some board game . That was one where I laughed out loud during the whole episode.

I can't really say what individual episodes, but I liked the ones that focused more on the other people in the family BESIDES Ray and Debra.

I really loved Robert's in laws (Georgia Engel, Fred Willard). Willard usually plays laid back, friendly and sometimes goofy characters, and this character was different from that, with Georgia in the middle. Ms. Engel has never been married and never had children, but she plays a mother well. The episode where she was caught smoking was a hoot.

Debra's parents were also well casted with Robert Culp and Katherine Helmond. A funny ass episode was the one where the couple divorced, with the father of Debra bringing home a girlfriend everyone thought would be young, but who ended up older by a bit from Culp's character, with the LOL moment was her sloooooooooooowly walking up the stairs.

Holiday episodes were always good. The tofu turkey. The sculpture that Marie made that looks like a Vulva is (I'm sorry for the profanity) MF'ing X1000 LOL, funny from start to end, and probably the most gut busting, funny ass episode of the 9 years series. Another funny one was when Robert moved out of his parent's apartment and rented a room from people the same age, the same temperment and the same personality as the parents. The episode that Paul Ruebens guest starred in as Amy's younger brother who owned the comic book store. Ramano did not want Ruebens as a recurring character because of his arrests, and thus came that other guy who was famous that I found annoying.

Some people really dislike her, but I really liked Amy, played by Monica Horan. The lady that played her is really funny, and was a good foil for Brad Garrett. She was pretty, but not outright beauty, who is about the right kind of person to marry Robert. Horan reminded me of a throwback of Lucille Ball or Carol Burnett with her facial expressions, acting and comedy. A lot of people rag on her because she was the wife of the Producer/Director/Big Somebody on the series.

I wished that Garrett and Horan would have had their own series, instead of that bad series on Fox that Garrett ended up doing. But in popular culture, things dont happen.

Frank and Marie are hilarious. To me, they were great parents of their generation. The father worked, the mother stayed home and kept a miraculous house and made incredible Italian food. Frank was a product of his generation of men who went to war, came home, married the first woman who came around, fell into a job that paid the bills but hated, had kids, loved his family, played golf, went to baseball games, was a member of a lodge. The character reminded me a lot of an uncle (in law) that I had who about lived the same life.

Ray Ramano on the show, although a comedian and can and was funny, was best used as a straight man for the other players of the show.

I live in China and have bought and owned many pirated copies of Raymond, plus I can easily watch them online. There is a documentary (see above) called "Exporting Raymond" which shows the difficulties of translating this program to Russian audiences after being rating winners in revivals of the show with other actors in other European nations. The humor seems to be lost on the Russians with the producer of the series fighting to keep the show the way it is against it being what the Russian producers want it to be. I am looking forward to seeing it.

I have thought this show would do great in China with a Chinese cast. The beloved sons (unlike the USA show, the YOUNGER brother would be Robert and moaning his station in the family), one whose parents help them buy a home (which would be a high rise apartment instead of houses). The wife is a woman from Shanghai with a wealthier, more enlightened family, who through love is in a more traditional family. The father fought in Korea against Americans, the wife Marie (玛丽)who takes her job as the matriarch seriously, nagging the daughter in law from everything from cleanliness to child rearing (a lot of middle and upper class Chinese grandmothers take an active part in the grandchildren's rearing from birth), much to the educated daughter in law's consternation.

Or when Culp and Helmond were trying to hide the fact that they were going to go to Jersey for marriage counseling, and Ray came downstairs in the middle of the night, and they followed, and he overheard their fight. The dialog in that fight was hilarious.
