A "Best Black Sitcoms" special that doesn't include Good Times or The Jeffersons.... is no "Best Black Sitcoms" special at all.

Yeah, it should be "The Best Black Sitcoms That We Got A License To Show" marathon.
Either way, "The Parkers" shouldn't be on anything called "The best..."

Haha.
I completely agree about The Parkers.
FP and TCS are great. And Girlfriends is probably the best UPN sitcom I've ever seen.... but it's still not a favorite.
The only thing in this marathon that I plan on watching is The Parkers. TCS has been grating ym nerves for all of three years now and FPoBA is getting there.
Never was interested in Girlfriends.

A Best Black Sitcoms marathon that doesn't include "227", "The Jeffersons" or "Good Times" is NOT a valid marathon. and yes, The Parkers, Girlfriends shouldn't be included. FBOBA is ok, but TCS has been grating on my nerves for years now, its on like every friggan channel.

A combination of the Fresh Prince and Cosby Show would have been just fine. No one wanted to see Fat, Ugly, and unclassy Niki Parker or those 4 Coyotes on the show Girlfriends

those 4 Coyotes on the show Girlfriends
That's not right.
That's
just
not
right.

How about this:
STFU, Solomon.

I don't think Fresh Prince ended up airing. Everytime I tuned in during the times it was scheduled, I'd see Girlfriends on. I did see Cosby Show on, though.

Fresh Prince did air. I tuned over at one point, the episode had to do with Carlton's virginity and liking a girl. Near the end of the episode Carlton was in his tree house and Will went up to console him.

TCS
Fresh Prince
Good Times
Jeffersons
Family Matters
227
Whats Happening
Different World
Amen
Those are great sitcoms. I don't think anything on UPN qualifies as such.

If i had programmed this marathon this is what it would have looked like:
The Jeffersons
Good Times
Sanford and Son (not a fave of mine, but it still qualifies)
The Cosby Show
227
A Different World
Amen
Different Strokes
Webster
The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air
Hanging With Mr. Cooper
Moesha
The Hughleys
For Your Love
My Wife and Kids
I might even include Sister, Sister just because its a fun, little fluff show.
I would maybe even include some short-lived shows such as:
Sparks (short-lived, but all together not too bad)
Attitudes
Roc
South Centeral
And it may not qualify as a sitcom so to speak, but i'd say that "In Living-Color" would also be included in any "best of black entertainment" marathon.

Is The Parkers really one of the best black sitcoms ever? Everyone knows that Homeboys in Outer Space is the real greatest Black sitcom!
You are joking, right?

It all has to do with money. BET could have bought the rights to a few episodes of any of the sitcoms other posters mentioned. they just aired stuff they had rights to and stuff they could get from the other Viacom channels. I think they should have ran marathon of a mixture of the best black sitcoms and short-lived black sitcoms, like Baby, I'm Back and the old Bill Cosby Show from 1969.

Another great black sitcom: Living Single.

I think they should have programmed every black sitcom beginning with Sanford and Son all the way to at least the most recent successful black sitcom. If I'm correct, it is My Wife and Kids and The Bernie Mac Show. I started with Sanford and Son because that was the first black orientated sitcom. It paved the way for the rest.

That would be impossible and very costly for BET. This marathon was possible because two of the shows they air were scheduled air on the network and the other two were borrowed from sister net Nick@Nite.
