I think that maybe you might suck, being that you don't know good comedy when you see it.

I don't care too much for todays new shows but it's one of the best newer shows out there. RAYMOND provides us with something decent to watch on network tv. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Compared to other CBS sitcom, Raymond is the best, but when comparing it to past show from the 80's and 90's Raymond is the pits.

I don't know what planet Lindz has been to, but this, by far, has to be one of the best commedies on tv right now. This show is written beautifully and it makes me laugh every time I watch it. So, to those who say this show sucks, then why is it always in the Nielsen Top Ten Ratings week after week? I think the answer is obvious. Many other people like this show, so you must not have a sense of humor.
By far the best comedy on TV right now.

This show is so annoying. I think it's because of the two main characters. Ray's a loser and Debra can be a bitch. She's too strong of a character for Ray. The only highlights of the show for me are Peter Boyle and Doris Roberts. I think they are hilarious and remind me so much of my Grandma and Grandpa. This is supposed to be a "Family Show" but we hardly see the kids even when the episodes are based on them (I think it's because the children on that show can't act). Brad Garret's really not that bad, though. Without Peter,Doris, and Brad the show would absolutely suck. This show not only jumped the shark, it beat it and then killed it!One word of advise to the writers: more Peter and Doris!!

I really enjoy this show. Some episodes are better than others ofcourse, just like any show. I agree with MTM fan that Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle are great. Debra can be a bitch sometimes, but so can I and most of the other women I know.

I really enjoy watching Everybody Loves Raymond, but I swear, if they start including the kids more, I will stop watching.

I like Raymond too but not for Raymond I agreed he and Robert acts like two goofs too much and Debra acts to much of a evil woman. The only people I really like is Marie and Frank those two make the show funny Doris Roberts I've been a fan of hers since Angie. And Peter Boyle I've been a fan of his since Young Frankinstein.

I really like Everybody Loves Raymond, Marie is my favorite character on the show and I adore Frank too.I am 29 and they remind me a somewhat of my mom and dad. Allie is so cute, it is nice when we get to see her.

I agree. The show is great right now. I hope they end it within a couple of years while they're at the top of their game, and before they have to give the kids more airtime.
Everybody Loves Raymond is, has always been, and will always be the best show ever made.

You obviously haven't seen The Dick Van Dyke Show ( Ray Romano even said it was his inspiration for ELR. He got the idea because Carl Reiner based the DVD show on his life).

I think your right, this show does suck. And the sad thing is that I liked it prior to Monday night. After seeing his wife elbow his testicles and them playing pre-recorded laughter ... I will stop watching. Any organization that depicts sexual violence as being funny doesn't desearve being supported. What fo we want for a society. Do you want society, your children, being de-sensitized to sexual violence - what affect does it have? I think we all know. I am a survivor of violent sexual abuse as a child at the hands of one of my aunt and I can tell you that I, and the millions of others that see that sort of crap, experience tormenting flashbacks. It also has a desensitizing effect on people like you - really think about what you have seen and tell everyone whether you would think it would be funny if he elbowed her breasts and she fell to the ground in pain. Would you laugh at that? Sexual violence is unacceptable toward anyone ... maybe you all should be sending an email to the tv staion and tell them that. maybe you will prevent the same thing that happened to me from happening to your child.

Ummm, I'm sorry about what has happened to you but I don't think you should come on a message board and slam a show just because of personal experiences. You have to realize that this is ONLY A TELEVISION SHOW, it's not supposed to be taken seriously.

MtM fan, or Chiristina - whatever you want to call yourself - this is an open forum ... it says feedback not praise. Anyone can express there thoughts - whatever they may be. I expressed mine to shed some social concience. We do not make light of rape because rape is a serious topic - so is sexual violence and domestic violence. People gain impressions and are desensitized by tv - hence why you do not see sexism and racism being protrayed as comedic. So no ... it is not just a tv show. Do you take sexual violence lightly ... do you take rape lightly? Or do you only take it seriously when perpetrated against a woman?

You are taking this way out of proportion. I really don't care if you have something bad to say about this show, I've said some bad things about it too but if you have so much against it then why are you paying so much attention to it? You need to relax and calm down. I don't care where Debra hit him, it was the way he reacted to it that I found funny. If Debra reacted the same way to something Ray did to her I would still have found it just as funny. So calm down.

Christina, I guess it comes with the territory. As I have said, I cannot imagine finding humour in sexual/domestic violence. We have begun to rid ourselves of sexism/racism by not finding humour in them and by seeing them as serious issues. I, and the millions of others that have gone through what I have see sexual/domestic violence in no different light. I do not want you/me/our children to grow up in a society that finds humour in any of the above. Based on your last addition I have obviously misinterpreted you. I appologize for that as well as the comment regarding your age. It is fortunate for you that this sort of imagery has little effect other than to further desensitize you to these issues. tv does have a very strong impact on society in many ways. I find it sad that there is such a double standard existing. sincerely Stephen.
I don't care about the Dick Van Dyke show. I still stand by what I said. Everybody Loves Raymond is the best and funniest show ever made.

I know, you see when I was talking about the DVD show? That's called an opinion. Sometimes we have them.
Doris Roberts and Patricia Heaton really deserved those awards. To bad the show didn't win all 5 of the major comedy awards.
I'm sorry if you didn't understand what I was trying to say. What I ment was that "I" think that ELR is the best show ever made. I do understand that your aloud to have your opinion. I'm a teenager so I probably wouldn't find the DVD show as funny as Raymond because its from a different time.
P.S. Accidentaly commented on Doris Roberts and Patricia Heaton's Emmy wins in the wrong topic.

Hmm amazing how I'm a teenager, too and I find it funny. You shouldn't age discriminate.
That's it, I tried to be polite. I wasn't age discriminating. So you like the DVD show, good for you. I don't. That's my "opinion." This all started when I said that ELR is the best show, which is my "opinion," and which wasn't directed to you but to the person who said that ELR sucks. ELR is the best show, case closed!

Okay, Okay everybody.......... LOL.......... Now At first I liked this series. Then I found it dumb. Now I'm getting back into it and I find that the writing is better. Doris Roberts fits the part perfect as the mother in law....... Peter Boyle still looks like Frankenstein. LOL........... He's good in the part too though. The brother seems always depressed. I like the episode where he was hanging out with his co-worker (the lady cop). He started to talk jive and dance more. He cracked me up. :happyface  :happyface

The Basketball episode where Geoffrey was really bad at basketball was funny but over the top. Most sitcoms are exagerrated but I think this is a really great show.

Christine0079 you're the loser. Each of those actors and actresses have come up and I'm pretty sure you're just jealous of their position. That is why you're cracking down on them. In Conclusion, ELR is one of the best comedies on television with Frasier.

LMAO you couldn't be any wronger. First of all I said I *thought* DVDS was better then Everybody Loves Raymond. That doesn't mean I don't like Everybody Loves Raymond. In fact, I never forget to tape episodes and I even watch them when they're repeats. I have no idea where you're getting this jealousy from, it's probably something else you pulled from your behind. I think the cast deserves everything they have. I was so happy when Patricia won her Emmys as well as Doris and I was so angry that Ray didn't win one. You don't know me well enough to make any assumptions so until you do please don't make things up.

I think the show is awesome! It's funny...it's funny...and it's funny! There...my 2 cents worth. All this other arguing doesn't need to be part of this thread. It's a sitcom for crying out loud!

As for my opinion I think Raymond is a very good show.;)

Usually, when people create these kind of threads, they are purposely looking for people to react and post. They may not even necessarily hate the show, they just want people to post on their thread. The show is very good, but not everyone is going to like everything.

10-24-2002, 09:14 PM
That's not always the case. Sometimes there is nowhere to post about things you dislike. If I wrote about how I disliked Fraiser on the Three's Company board it would be waaaay off topic. When I first started posting here I HATED ELR. (I think it may have been because the only episode I saw was the one when Frank got his article published in Reader's Digest. I thought this episode was so tedious and stupid. I couldn't understand what the big deal about this show was.) But I started to catch the show in reruns and it really grew on me. And it's true, there is no show that is for everyone but you should really give something the full benefit of the doubt before you say it sucks.
