As February sweeps kicked off on Thursday night, Joey's struggles have never been more apparent. With Survivor not returning for another two weeks, any hope of Joey improving its audience was blown away by ABC's Happy Days 30th Anniversary Reunion, which completely dominated the 8:00 hour. The sixteenth episode of Joey ended up with a 6.8 rating and a 10 share, significantly below the 8.2/13 for its last new episode two weeks ago. It set a grim record for NBC, marking the first time in the history of the network that a new episode of its Thursday night opening programming reached less than seven percent of households with televisions. With an estimate of just 10.01 million viewers, Joey tied Will & Grace for seventh on the night, as shown by the preliminary ratings.

1. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: 15.8/23

2. Without a Trace: 12.6/20

3. Happy Days 30th Anniversary Reunion: 12.5/19

4. ER: 12.3/20

5. The Apprentice 3: 9.6/15

6. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (8:00 Repeat): 7.7/12

7. Joey: 6.8/10

7. Will & Grace: 6.8/10

CBS won the night as usual with a 12.0/18 average, as ABC's Happy Days special moved the network into second with a 10.4/16, leaving NBC in third with just a 9.5/15. Joey slipped out of the season-to-date top twenty in January. American Idol and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation have a stranglehold on the top spots, while Joey continues to compete with Will & Grace for the number-three sitcom behind Everybody Loves Raymond and Two and a Half Men. Next Thursday will mark the beginning of the second week of February sweeps, as Joey will get one final chance to improve without competition from Survivor before the reality program returns with its next premiere on February 17.
