Which one of your parents came up with your first name? Also what were some names they considered naming you? My dad came up with my name. He really liked the name Laura, and my mom also liked it because it closely resembled her best friend's name. My mom put her foot down on the name Justine. My dad was really trying to convince her, but she wouldn't do it. I was almost named Elizabeth, but because of my last name they decided not to.

My name is Andrea and my dad's name is Andrew but I think my name was a mutual decision. My mom told me once that they were thinking of calling me Kelly. I don't know where they got that from. I would've liked the name Kelly. Maybe then people wouldn't get my name wrong!! I've been called Angela and Adrienne more times than I can remember!!

My father was watching M*A*S*H one night, and Hawkeye had a girlfriend named Carly. My father plainly said, "...that's her name". And voila, change the 'C' to a 'K', and you have me.

TJL should appreciate that one.

My dad came up with it. I think it was some guy's girlfriend's name. Whatever my name was gonna be, it had to have absolutely NO nicknames/shortenings. I guess he didn't like the 100 different names people call guys named Michael.

well, my dad wanted me to be named Joseph, after him. but my mom didn't want that and she said that she doesn't like to name people after other family members because everyone deserves their own individual name. so my mom named me Michael (after much protest with my dad) and my middle name is Joseph, after my dad.

My son's name is Joseph(we call him Joe/Joey) :D He wasn't named after anybody but at the time that he was born(1973) everybody was naming their boys "Jason" , which is a nice name but I never wanted to go the "trendy" route so my husband and I chose Joseph because we liked it and nobody at the time were naming their kids these common names anymore! Funny thing though, there were at least 3 Joey's in his elementary classes. Guess that those parents had the same idea!

You name is Michael? Well, interestingly enough, the last time that I checked, Michael was still the most popular boy's name in the U.S. It's a nice name! I like it!

My name is Kristina. I have no idea if my mom or my dad thought it up. Most likely my mom, because my dad probably didn't even really care, but I was named after a great great great grandma even though her name was really "Christine" (my parents thought it was spelled differently!). Also, besides a boy's name (Joseph) my parents never had any girls' names in mind. Or at least when I asked them about it they don't remember having any other girls names in mind.

My name is Karen and my dad wanted to name me this because there was no one whose name started with the letter K in the family, although I don't know why he chose this particular name. He told me before that he wanted to name me Vivian because there was also no Vs in the family, but that is not true (I have a cousin named Vanessa). My name also sets the predecent for my younger siblings because I have a brother whose name starts with L and a sister whose name starts with M.

I wish my avatar said Karen on it instead of Angela. :(

If I'd been a boy my parents would have reversed my dad's name. My name would have been Robert Mark. I'm glad that didn't happen because we have way too many Robert's in the family anyway.

Well, if I was a boy I was gonna be Ryan something or other. I was going to be Caitlin Marie, and I'm glad I wasn't named that, it's not like I don't like the name, it's just...blah, it wouldn't fit me at all. Then I think my mom met someone named Lauren and at the TIME nobody was named Lauren and she just loved the name so yep, here I am, Lauren Kelly, don't know where Kelly came from though

My name is Kristin Danielle. My mother came up with it. She had 3 girls names picked out. Kristin, Kirsten and Maryette. Since my older brothers name is Kurt Daniel and since I was born on his 7th birthday my mom wanted to name me something that would go along with that. I remember my mom telling me that my aunt had never even heard of the name Kristin before. I guess it was pretty uncommon at that time. If I was a boy, my name was going to be Timothy.
