With the next season of Survivor not premiering until February 17, NBC was hoping January would be a month for Joey to gain some ground. Unfortunately for the spin-off sitcom, after significant improvement last week, it was unable to continue the trend with its second new episode in a row. The fourteenth episode of Joey came away with a Planet Dan estimate of an 8.0 rating and a 13 share, slightly below last week's 8.2/13. Because this approximation is self-calculated, it may change slightly when the final numbers are released. With an estimate of 12.37 million viewers, Joey ranked fourth for the night, well behind new episodes of NBC's and CBS's three Thursday night dramas, as shown by the preliminary ratings.

1. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: 16.8/26

2. ER: 12.2/20

2. Without a Trace: 12.2/20

4. Joey: 8.0/13

5. Committed: 7.2/11

6. Will & Grace: 7.1/11

7. Will & Grace (9:30 Repeat): 6.7/11

8. Wickedly Perfect: 6.6/12

CBS did not have Survivor, but the network still won the night, averaging an 11.9/19 that easily beat NBC's second-place 8.8/14. Joey slipped out of the season-to-date top twenty in January. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation has a stranglehold on the number-one spot, while Joey continues to compete with Will & Grace for the number-three sitcom behind Everybody Loves Raymond and Two and a Half Men. Joey will get another chance to increase its audience, airing another new episode without competition from Survivor next Thursday night.
