I don't understand the hatred towards Maude. I have friends who are diehard Golden Girls freaks and they say hate Maude and that they have no desire to watch, tape, or buy DVDs of Maude, and they don't think Maude is funny. If you tell somebody you like the show they laugh or roll their eyes at you and say "that old creaky show?" I think Maude is great and I like Bea Arthur on there better than Golden Girls! I think poor syndication has kept this show pretty much buried. Only if TV Land would show this as much as Three's Company it could earn a new fanbase. The channel needs to bring Maude back for a second trial.

I think it's too political for some people. Maude was outspoken and loud which is what made the show good, but it made some people mad. BTW, Welcome to the boards I'm the moderator for Maude.

Yeah earning a new fanbase is very important and if it's not being seen anywhere DVD sales will not be good.

I loved that show very much and was lucky enough to tape almost every episode in 1999 on TV Land. I think it's one of the funniest shows I've seen. The only reason I could think people dislike it is because of the strong political views in some episodes, which are not common interest 30 years later and can become serious at times. If we stick simply to the chemistry and humourous situations/comebacks between Maude and Vivian, Walter, Frorida and Mrs Naugatuck, it was one hell of a funny show. Hopefully, only a few episodes are politically inclined...which means the rest is all there to make up for it, and believe me it does! Bea Arthur rocks!

I don't think this show is popular with younger viewers which may be the reason it doesn't dowell in reruns. When I say younger I mean viewers born after 1976

I love Maude, but a lot of my friends hate this show, and one of the reasons why is because of the Maude character. A lot of people found her to be quite obnoxious and brash (two qualities which I found to be entertaining)
