Guys,

What a beautiful transfer, especially for a 40 year old show! The only problem is the low sound on "Knock on Wood...Here Comes Charlie" and that quick splice image and music skip in "Autumn Croakes" I haven't seen all of the episodes yet. But I was wondering, which ones, in your opinions were the most edited by TV Land? In "Munster Masquerade" TV Land cuts out the whole part of Grandpa trying out his costome in the dungeon and the opening sequence of Grandpa playing checkers. (or wait...is that "My Fair Munster?)

"Tin Can Man" has a lot missing from TV Land! When Herman is on stage with his joke book, a husband turns to his wife in the audience and says, "Now why can't our Sydney build something like that? He's 16-years old and he can barley wave bye-bye." TV Land cuts out a lot of his jokes in that episode! It's hard to remember all the specifics, but we are getting 2-3 minutes of footage that we haven't seen since syndication, and may not have even seen at all by many of us!

1. The Season 1 DVD consists of 39 total episodes. And I only see 3 with any problems, Knock Wood, Here Comes Charlie has low sound, Autumn Croakus has a big crack in sound and film, and Lily Munster- Girl Model has a couple of black dots that don't go off the screen for about 3 or 4 minutes. All of that could be taken care of digitally, but I think Universal wanted to keep it original.

2. The reason why so many scenes are cut, is because of advertisers. Advertisers want to jam commercials into the slots but it just doesn't work, so one day they decided they would edit down the shows and not the commercials. And we end up having 18 minutes of show and 12 minutes of commercials!!! Which I think is very unfair. Not to mention the voiced-over closing credits. YUCK!

On a side note.... Has anyone taken a look at the Andy Griffith show Season 1 DVD? Those episodes could have been remastered a little better!

Did anyone notice on Far Out Munsters when Eddie plays the album in the opening scene that the song is different on the DVD? Was this a copyright issue with the Standels?

A very funny cut scene in "Lily Munster...Girl Model." When Lily goes to apply for different jobs, she goes to that old age home and the residents all come out running in crutches and wheelchairs! I don't ever recall seeing this scene on TV Land or syndicate! As a sidenote, I think these actors were extras. I don't recall them listed in the credits.

Guys,

There is one episode on the DVD were Marilyn repeats a word or two (as if there is an echo effect.) This isn't the exactly line, but it's an example of the glitch.

She says, "Grandpa will be back by then... by than." Her last 1-2 words are very quicky repeated over and you have to listen carefully for them. I can't remember the episode where this glitch occurs. Does anyone else know?

Well, you said it was on the Season 1 DVD. Which means it only narrows my search down by half. Do you know if it was a BO ep or a PP ep? Or were you talking about Munster Go Home?

What's BO? Does PP mean "post production?" I mean the Season 1 The Munsters DVD. It could be a glitch from the master tapes. BTW, where are those "black circles" in "Lily Munster, Girl Model?" I didn't see those.

Beverly Owen or Pat Priest.

The little black dots appear very clearly when Lily walks into Mr. Brastoffs office.

Ironically that very scene where the dots appear was chopped out of the episodes when it was aired here years ago. So even though it's a little imperfect I do get to see what I've been missing.
Every episode shown then was edited and sped up. Sometimes cut in 2 or 3 different parts of the show!
I can't see season 2 being any less cut so bring on the DVD's. :)
