Shelley was absolutely beautiful on this show- i love the re-runs just to see her in those great skirts-

Oh man, you took the words out of my mouth! I hated Kirste Alley on the show, and always will. Shelley Long was the reason I watched the show.

I liked Kirstie her first couple of years on the show, before they turned her character into such a ditz. But I love Shelley Long and Diane. There are so many great episodes with her -- Diane tries out for the ballet, Diane shows up at Carla's for Thanksgiving in a pilgrim outfit, Diane decides to quit Cheers (there are quite a few of these, but my favorite is when she quits because Sam is dating the councilwoman).

The show just wasn't the same without her, although it probably wouldn't have lasted 11 seasons if she had stuck around -- the cast change was revitalizing.
