LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) James Denton took a break from turning on the women of Wisteria Lane this week to work on his comedy chops.
The "Desperate Housewives" star filmed an episode of The WB's comedy "Reba" this week, playing a marriage counselor who catches the eye of both Reba (series star Reba McEntire) and her ex-husband's second wife, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman). The episode is set to air during February sweeps.

In the episode, Denton plays Dr. Morgan, a marriage counselor advising Barbra Jean and her husband, Brock (Christopher Rich). When Barbra Jean develops a crush on him, she asks for Reba's help in firing him. Reba agrees, only to find herself attracted to him. Morgan then asks her out, and sitcom awkwardness ensues.

Comedy doesn't make up a big portion of Denton's resume. He co-starred in the 1997 feature "That Old Feeling" and has made guest appearances on "The Drew Carey Show," "Ally McBeal" and "Two Guys and a Girl."
He's better known for his drama work, which in addition to "Desperate Housewives" includes regular roles on "The Pretender," "Philly" and last season's dud "Threat Matrix." His film credits include "Face/Off" and "Primary Colors."
