He is very healthy and thanks to the success of Macon County Line he is wealthy as well.
He now owns the rights to the name "Beverly Hillbillies". He wants to build a $175 million Beverly Hillbillies Casino in Los Vegas. I'm not sure whether this counts as being "in show business".
The latest news (http://thetimesharebeat.com/archives/2000/ts/tsmay11.htm) seems to be that he is having difficulty with this project.
He also has his own website. I just tried it and it seemed to broken. But it was working a few weeks ago. Here is the link (http://www.jethroscasino.com/).

I thought this casino was going to be at
Lake Tahoe, not in Vegas....Please, if I'm
wrong, let me know....I love casinos, and
go to Vegas a lot, and I plan to visit Mr.
Baer's casino....Don't want to go to the
wrong city....

Well, I did fumble. It's not Vegas, it's Reno. And the links in my original post verify this. (And Max's own site is working again...it's worth looking at).
Mr. Baer resides in Lake Tahoe. There he saw the Ponderosa Ranch which inspired his current idea.
And by the way, welcome to the site. Your knowledgeable posts are a valuable contribution.
