Can you remember and help me identify what episodes these long ago deleated lines belong to?

Cindy: "But Alice, you know that that's the sleeping bag that the zipper always sticks on? I think it's from "A Camping We Will Go" but not sure what it is referenced to.

And how bout this one:

Bobby and Cindy come downstaris wearing bathrobes and say they are going swimming in the neighbor's pool, Alice asks if Bobby is wearing his new swim trunks or the ones with the holes in them She peeks at the robe and says, "Your not wearing your bathing suit your wearing your birthday suit." They argue that they want to go skinnydipping and say something about vitamins being good for your skin. (I swear I remember this!) Alice than says, "You are not going to swim in an X-rated swimming pool without your parents permission." What episode was this in? It's bugging me to no end! LOL!

I honestly have seen all 117 episodes of the Brady Bunch. I do not ever recall this scene in any of the 117 episodes. Then again it could have been edited out.

I do remember that scene, although it's been a long, LONG time since I've seen it. I think it comes from the episode where Alice quits the Bradys because she thinks they don't want her anymore (as opposed to the episode where Alice quits because she thinks they don't need her anymore).

Whatever episode it's from, it's definitely been edited out, because I haven't seen this on the N@N or latest local syndication versions.

Okay, first of all, I think there is a good chance, you may be remembering the swimming scene from one of the Brady Bunch feature films, because I highly doubt that there would be an episode where someone would ever state the phrase "X-rated" in it. I have seen all 117 episodes at least 5 times in syndication and on Nick at Nite and the closest anyone ever got to mentioning something on that level was when Oliver stated the word "sex" in The Hair Brained Scheme. As for the zipper quote, I don't think it's from "A Camping We Will Go", but I will have to re-watch the full unedited version I have as soon as I get the chance.

Until I saw this post, I had forgotten about the dialog about the birthday suit and the line about the zipper. These lines are not from either movie but from the original Brady Bunch. It has been years since these scenes were included in the airings such as on Nick at Nite which carries edited versions. I am curious to see others respond to this topic now to find out what episode the "birthday suit" line is from.

Also, in recent years when airing the Brady Bunch on Nick at Nite, other scenes I have noticed edited are during the slumber party,prior to playing "Truth or Dare" game, the girls play the game "HA" where they each take turns laughing. It is edited out. Also in the episode where Peter likes Kerry, there is a brief scene where there is a discussion about Marica putting on the wig to portrey "the other woman" since Kerry has never met her. But this to has been edited out in recent years.

The episodes of "The Brady Bunch" each had one minute edited out when the show initially went into syndication in the 1970s, and have been further edited since then. The swimsuit scene is definitely from the series, and not the movies. It was there in the 1970s syndicated version, but I don't think it was included when the episodes were recut in the 80s. Alice definitely says "X-rated", but the whole scene is done very innocently in a Brady-like way.

It's wierd because with regard to editing of episodes. (Brady Bunch is the best example of this.) I think this series has had more "cuts" in it than many of the others. What is strange is that TBS showed Brady Bunch for years, leaving scenes intact that Nick at Nite took out. (Biggest is Myran the mouse getting lose in Carol's bedroom in "Impractical Joker") and Alice on Skis in the backyard in "Father of the Year." Yet, Nick at Nite has restored footage that TBS takes out. (Bobby getting stuck in the stockade in Ununderground Movie...which I'm glad was restored!) But, the question is, who decides what to edit/what not to edit? We know that obviously their are (at leaet) two seperate syndicated versions of Brady Bunch out there (Plus Brady Bunch according to http://www.bradyworld.com is shown in Australia and Canada) Too bad that some scenes are "gone forever"

You know the time has come, I believe, for the fans to have a network that shows uncut original shows from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's that Now miss lots of scenes (several minutes worth per show). Of course the millionaires that have the shows want to make $ off it so there lies the problem. Can somebody w/a lot of $ who loves TV shows care enough to show the programs uncut?

In response to Jack's question about who decides what to edit -- generally the production company that owns the show (in this case Paramount/Viacom) makes the edits and distributes the edited version to whomever has bought the rights.

What I'm guessing (and it's just a guess) happened is that N@N needed their episodes to be a slightly different length than the versions shown in local syndication/TBS, so Paramount recut them to fit N@N's needs. And I'm sure when they did this, rather than trying to add or delete scenes from the already edited versions, they started from scratch, with the full prints, and went from there.

The versions of "Three's Company" running on N@N are also different from the previously syndicated versions in much the same way. There are scenes that have been added back in, and others that have been deleted.

Personally I think N@N should "pull a TNN" by putting the bar at the bottom of the screen and displaying the names of sponsors in it, while the episodes are shown in their original entirety. (Of course, N@N can eliminate any controversial content--it puzzles me that they didn't take out the part of Episode #117, "The Hair-Brained Scheme" in which Oliver says the word "sex"!)

Seems that TVLand (which, I just inevitably recall, is a sister to Paramount thru Viacom) does this to GILLIGAN (UA, dist.now by WB) and (according to some) BATMAN (20th Century-Fox/DC-DC of course now owned by WB though Fox still owns the 1966-68 campy series) as well.

GILLIGAN's famous haunted house episode (Ep 65, THE FRIENDLY PHYSICIAN)-guest star Vito Scotti (Dr.Boris Balinkofff, who'd return in Episode 77, RING AROUND GILLIGAN) returning to the island to get Mary Ann and Ginger, the Professor and Howeels and Howell rotating out of the office of the mad Dr. (after he'd rotate in, via the stock "haunted house rotating wall" gimmick) being edited out, likewise in episode 57 (GILLIGAN'S LIVING DOLL) the robot who's the guest telling the Howells that it'll take years to build a bridge (even thouigh the bridge can be built from "ma-ter-i-al-found-right-here-on-the-is-land) also deleted,etc.

TBS just reran "The Great Earring Caper" last night, and I swear I heard a line I've never heard before. In the very first shot with Peter in his room with his detective kit, we usually see him with his disguise already on and looking through the maginfying glass. Last night I saw (for the first time ever!) Peter applying the disguise from the kit. He then asks Greg (who is reading a book) who he resembles, and Greg responds: "a candidate for a butterfly net!"

Of course they cut a lot of stuff out as always (including Cindy going into the boys' bedroom to advise Bobby that GREG is in the bathroom (only to have Greg enter the room from the hall), and Peter and Cindy taking Alice's mop so they could get her fingerprints).

speaking of editd lines: i can remember when i was younger and i watched the brady bunch, the one wehre jan has the wig, and she has the towel on her head, i seem to remember someone asking her if she washed her hair, and she said yes, then they said but didnt you wash it yhesterday? its a bit vague, but i remember little bits from the brady bunch like htat, and wen i watched it again it wasnt ther. lol i think i have been a true brady fan since birth ;)

I remember seeing the scene w/ Bobby & Cindy wearing nothing under their robes near the beginning of "Goodbye, Alice, Hello", where Alice stops them from going skinny-dipping. It was the first example of her "snitching" that got her in trouble w/ the kids. I've seen it in syndication, though TV Land edits that scene out.

The scene you're talking about is when Mrs. Brady is wanting to see if the alterations of Jan's party dress were ready. She's in the kitchen with Alice, and Jan appears with her head wrapped in the towel:

Jan: You wanted to see me, Mom?

Carol: Jan, I thought you washed your hair yesterday.

Jan: Oh I did, but... it needed it again!


I don't recall this scene (or portion) ever edited out... the things usually edited out are parts from Jan in the department store with sales lady Marcia Wallace and when Mike and Carol are watching the movie in the living room just before Jan returns home from the party.

That was in Our son the man getting alice out of the sleeping bag was one of the "tests" of Greg's manhood.
